If you use your phone to go to [some lefty website].com and leave a shitpost, they have your IP address and with that they can pay payfone or danalinc for your name, address, phone number, coordinates, etc.

Furthermore in this instance it isn't google/android collecting this information. The telecoms themselves, AT&T, Verizon, etc, are selling access to this data to companies like danalinc or payfone who then resell it to anybody who's willing to pay. It doesn't matter what software is running on your phone, you could be using an iphone, a microsoft phone, or some obscure FOSS nerd phone you got from a kickstarter… none of that will protect you because the phone software isn't what's betraying you. The telecom company has your billing information; that's the information being sold.
