So, whats the best game you played this year so far? Chances are it will be your GOTY, the ones coming out by the end of the year are looking pretty weak.

Pic related for me, havent played a good FPS this fast in a handful of years, its faster than a lot of overrated old games, even on the original Doom you dont die as fast if you stop moving.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I have a better idea: Let's talk about Dragon's Dogma.
DD2 when?

Toxikk genuinely impressed me when I first played it for 3 hours

wat? which UT you mean?
I played the alpha of the new one for a bit and there was only one fucking map with textures and everyone playing was fucking terrible.

I used to play 99, but hated 2004 and 3.

Devil Daggers is UNUSED POTENTIAL: THE GAME. Not wasted potential, but it'd be GOTY if it had an actual singleplayer campaign.

Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo is the best SHMUP in YEARS. The rank system tunes its difficulty to how hard you want it to be, and the low-fi visuals and music are pretty damn great.

nuDoom is pretty eh. Like playing Painkiller in Quake 3 maps, but with balance and focus all over the place. I'm writing a big-ass .txt on my thoughts over the game.

Rabi Ribi seems like a genuinely good game despite appearing like moeshit on first glance.

I like nuDoom. I think the graphics are great, the animations are great too, the gunplay is really nice even though some of the guns are mediocre, the art direction is fine I think, the pacing is better than most modern FPS, and the industrial music is definitely better than old Doom. The great animations and nice enemy feedback makes the gunplay more addicting than Painkiller and Serious Sam. I only dislike the completely linear map design.

Btw, why does it feel so satisfying to legitimately like a decent game that Holla Forums absolutely hates?

Because the glory kills, the OST, the demons in smaller numbers but with a sickass AI are all polarising.

I don't think anyone actually likes the arena segments. At most, people don't mind them or people hate them.

It has moved from there. And is by far better nu-shooters.
