I agree with you on that one, anything past Nanaimo is gorgeous. In my half decade i've been here i haven't gone past Port Alberni, and in my opinion would be a great place to settle down except for the glaring fact that you'd still be in BC getting screwed over.

It all depends on where you live however. Victoria is a cesspool, filled with price gouging sheeple that are only concerned about screwing over their fellow man by raising rent to astronomical levels. And i've got to say Victoria has some of the worst people living there that i've ever encountered. Anything past Nanaimo i'd say is fine but as the user above said the ferry is just a disguised highwayman and its the only way off the island besides flying or owning your own boat.
