Modding Games

Which games out there that allow extreme modding? Like, to the point where it is so much better than vanilla? Also post pics of your New Vegas mods.

Mods are a slap in the face to the creators of the game. Play the game the way it was meant to be played or don't play it at all.

...

Which mod?

Those have to be unrelated. None of the Bethesda Games(and FO:NV in this case) allow extreme modding. Those games are unstable as shit in their vanilla versions, you install more than 40 mods it crashes like every minute

I guess games like Minecraft, Soldat, Doom, Half-life 1-2 etc can count

Mods are like salt and pepper on a game, it's discretional to use but it can only flavor so much shit.

I can understand the instability of betheshit's engine. I can't get past the 120 mod limit with my game, but at least it's finally enjoyable.

I agree, but after the 5th vanilla play through, you're not stimulated anymore. Mods are the trap porn to vanilla's amateur porn.

this meme needs to die

It's been dead, user. We just like to revisit the grave once and awhile.

Vanillafags everyone. You could get a superior ice cream flavor like mint chocolate-chip, butter pecan or one of those flavors where they mix Reeses or other candy in, but these fags would rather have it vanilla every time.
Don't get me wrong, vanilla is good now and then but doing things strictly vanilla is fucking dull and mods greatly extend the life of vidya. Both for the game's relevance/sales and for the end user getting sometimes exponentially more time out of a game than they would have gotten without it. There's no downside to mods other than the violation of "Muh intended experience!"

Modding Fallout is currently the only way to see my fantasy of women in a post-nuclear setting getting captured and raped by thugs when they lose to them in battle. So I'll take what I can there.

Jesus christ, I hate this stupid board sometimes. just because something's got problems doesn't mean it automatically suck balls, it just means it has a couple issues. Shitting all over NV and 1 because it's cool and trendy makes you a cocksucker, and I don't care what the fuck anyone else says.

Hello EA, I didn't know you were here so late in the night.

What about games where the way they're meant to be played is to do whatever you want?

I prefer Oreo, there was this Choco-Chip from the stone age (Bing Icecream) that was litterally Vanilla with choco-chips.

I played NV unmodded and had fun.

NV being better than 3 and 4, doesn't make it good, it just makes it not as bad.

Play a good game instead of settling for "not as bad".

Maybe Star Wars Battlefront II, the hard part is finding the right mods, because IMO most of them are trash tier.

There was a great torrent on Kickass that had every good mod(at the time it was assembled) in it pre-installed.

I was trying to make a rebalance of the classes but when I posted a demo of a map on the forums nobody cared so I stopped doing it and focused on other stuff.

those types of devs are cucks, user.

Muh nigga.

Morrowind was meant to be modded and I'd argue that any game that releases with mod tools was also meant to be modded.

Also, why would I not have a mod for something that doesn't have mod tools like DSfix. Do you think playing at 30FPS 720p is better than 60/1080? Fuck the creators, I want to play the best game possible, and if I can make the game better with mods then I see no reason why I shouldn't use them.

If anyone's curious as to what I meant about Morrowind being meant to be modded, think about the part where Vivec asks you to choose your interpretation out of 3 different descriptions of a historical event. The point is that canon doesn't matter and anyone who has achieved CHIM can reshape the world as they please.

That doesn't make Mods canon.

C0DA makes mods canon. But they're still not canon.

And my dick is a slap to your face.
Tough shit, faglord.

...

It's funny because there's no mods that can make a bethesda game good

you mean Togusa?

post your mod list

I don't see why it wouldn't, a being that has achieved CHIM has complete control over the world around them and even the history of it, and even without C0DA you can definitely argue that the player has achieved CHIM since they know the world around them isn't real (it's a video game), and they can also change it at their will with mods.

i've been messing trying to mod mount and blade the last few days
it's a bit tricky since a lot of the tutorials and tools might be a little bit outdated (like 2005 or so)
the good thing is that everything can be done in notepad
the bad thing is that nearly everything has to be done that way
so far i managed to create a new faction, get swadia to declare war on it at the start of the game, give it a custom leader, and 2 custom troops with new armours
the only downside is that so far i haven't had luck changing the world map. the issue is that the only tool for that is thorgrim's map editor, but for some reason i can't see any text in it, so i can't export the new map i make, nor can i do anything with the towns in it
anyways, vid related

Unless they're playing on PS4.

Anyhow, CHIM is basically an invention of Bethesda to cover their ass when they can't be bothered to LORE properly. In a way I guess it could be argued for, but it wasn't the intent. C0DA is the actual open sourcing of the lore, for what little that means to most people, because Bethesda is still going to do their own thing.

And what makes you think Morrowind is on the PS4?

...

What's that weapon inspecting mod?

I dont care what you say either, cockglober. All Fallout games are fucking trash.

Mods are not the criterion for "achieving CHIM" though, because the PC users have been modding ES since before CHIM was even conceptualized - and console users (the vast majority of the ES playerbase) have never been able to use them until now - and even then, on a single game on a single platform. And they can't even make mods themselves, so it's not like they're reshaping the world as they see fit. They're just hanging on the Muatra of someone else who does have CHIM and begging them to make the changes to the world for them. They can't even access the dev console, the poor fucks.

But everyone can have their own headcanon - which includes things like mods and expansions and different character doing different quests in differing sequences of events. That's why C0DA is more player oriented, while CHIM is more of a Bethesda tool for Zero-Summing the Lore whenever it's inconvenient.

Thanks doc.

same, i found fist weapons very satisfying

congratulations for the number of replies

I have 142 mods installed on top of all the manual changes i did myself in the GECK.

It's a Gunetwork mod. You need to register to their shitty site to view it and download it.

Armstrong is weak compared to that guy if that guy can punch his fist while Armstrong has a knuckle duster on.

Are there any other communities that don't share their mods on the Nexus?

Ive seen this meme a lot latetly, you're really dedicated to your craft

Not that I'm aware of. This is the only site that I've seen that has mods that aren't on the Kike Nexus.

Fug, sorry for the embeded kiketube. I'm in the process of webm'ing that and forgot I had that link in the embed when I posted that.

Bethesda games have the best modding aside from Quake 1 and 2 Lithium mod was the best. So simple. So impactful

Holy shit its still around

mediafire.com/download/vli6r5nxlfovk9o/Ammo & Condition Checking Beta 3.7z

Found the mod, if anyone is interested.

I discovered mods very late in my gaming life.I can't say it changed much.

There's only so much than can happen in 12 years.

I got an extremely stable game at 136 mods. It's when you go above 139, for some reason, things go insane.

I did have to fight some strange texture bugs and missing meshes in the past but that was just me being an idiot about Archive Invalidation.

FNV modded is at least 9/10 right now, though I still want more mods, quality new worldspaces and stories to make the world feel a lot bigger.

dude you better refill your nuts

Supposedly, Brazil and Frontier are just around the corner, thought they don't exactly slot into the main game.

The interesting part of modding FNV, I come to find, is that it feels like I'm cooperating with the developers, helping them tell their story with the input of others.

With Skyrim, specifically, it was trying to do a open heart transplant without the original heart nor a replacement heart to take its place. I just can't get that game to be any fun no matter how much I mod it with third party mods of even my own. It really feels like a singleplayer MMO in the worst ways.

I'm glad they're coming but basically I'm looking for mods that really try to expand either the actual worldspace or neatly line up with the existing one, for example North Vegas/Nevada, or the South, or exploring more of Colorado.

I noticed that too. The number of quality quest mods for FNV dwarfs the ones for Skyrim, and you basically have nothing equal to Brazil or the Frontier for it either. You could argue that Enderal is similar, but I view it as a completely new game that uses the Skyrim engine, rather than as an expansion to the core game.

On the other hand Skyrim gets a large number of interesting mods like Frostfall or OSA, on top of little slices or quality that don't really fit in with the gameworld or lore but still manage to beat whatever Bethesda ever did.

Good game>Good mods/Few Porn mods
Autism game>Autism/Porn mods

It really has to do with how the games are structured I think. NV is a non-linear RPG, you have places to explore, quests with multiple outcomes to complete, different factions to support and all manner of different epilogues to explore, on top of varying character builds that allow for different playstyle, both in and outside combat.

Skyrim has stuff like that too, I guess, but on a really basic level that doesn't engage the player or fire up the animation. You do have quests with multiple outcomes, but those are very basic, if they are offered at all, and boil down to a good/evil choice. You have factions, but, again, there's very little substance to them, certainly nothing remotely close to the NCR, House or the Legion, and you can play the game "differently", but that's really just a choice between melee and magic, with ranged weapons being a secondary. There is next to no possibility to role play or use skills to interact with the world in a meaningful way, and each playthrough is going to be very much similar to every other one.

One reason might be that Skyrims version of the engine is the most versatile on a purely technical level.
The introdution of papyrus scripting gave us more functionality and flexibility than ever before (and after, because FO4 introduced new restrictions and boundaries) and allowed things that were simply impossible in NV or Oblivion.

I'd day that's one reason for the amount of technical and mechanical overhauls in Skyrim compared to others - they were simply not possible before to that extend.

I wonder if the introduced restrictions and boundaries of FO4 will mean that the Remastered Edition of Skyrim has these limits, too.

If so, it'll be a strange tradeoff, hopefully x64 at last but having to give up functionality and flexibility.

Still, technical versatility itself isn't enough to make the actual game better, since there's a lack of quest and overall content mods that add to the existing core of the game's story and main quest.

...

I was thinking about doing a mod binge again. Last time I did I took Skyrim and modded it to hell and back. Spent more time searching for and installing mods than actually playing the game. Does fallout4 have a torrent out that is functional with mods? I heard fallout4 has a bit of fuckery with their modding scene in that the devs made mod support but tried to be jews or stop lewd mods or something and ended up stripping out some of the functionality of it (like custom animations I think).

Might want to give those rocks a piercing effect, like the guns have, but with lower damage to compensate for the piercing.

The cap is somewhat different for everybody, and is dependent on your hardware, drivers, mods, load order, etc. The "Hard Limit" is around 255, like Skyrim, but everyone has a "soft limit" depending on their setup which will cause the game to bug out, load the master files after plugins, and then shit itself in a mess of missing assets and fucked up textures.

My mod limit is somewhere around 177. Might be more now with the new AMD drivers, which gave me a substantial boost in performance, but I haven't booted it up in a few months. Get some flame decals for your case and blue LEDs to help it run cooler, and you might be able to pack in 10 to 20 extra mods.

My build has 8 GB RAM, Geforce 960 (Should've gone with a 380 or Polaris 10, oh well) and a i5 2500k at stock (summertime makes me careful not to OC, floor heating was a mistake).

A common problem was that people stopped talking entirely, stopped walking and when trying to change a cell, a short loading screen with moving purple blocks instead of the usual loading screen animation then leads to a full CTD.
This would also happen after a new game. Doc Mitchell's house and character creation would work fine, then after stepping outside, getting barraged by messages, eventually the above bug would get triggered, even if returning to the Doc's house.

Glad that I don't have that problem anymore for a few weeks and everything is set up well.

you don't deserve your fantasies

I posted this in one thread about mods I'll post it in this one.

Anybody have anything they're looking for with Oblivion lewd mods? 2 solid years of trying just about everything has made me pretty well versed in what's available. Even the beta shit that never got a solid release. Seriously just name it I can tell you if it exists or not within a reasonable parameter.

Also

I'm working on a Loin Tattoo of pic related to put on my character when her mind is broken. It's a shame I'm terrible with this sort of stuff because I can't think of an easier way to make this other than ripping as much of pic related as I can out, making it face forward with the perspective tool, and then polishing it up by hand. I'de probably be better off just googling transparent decals but nothing really grabbed my attention like this one. Anybody well versed in Gimp/Photoshop/Krita to know a simpler solution to ripping the image from pic 1 easier?

Also the source for pic 1 is "Taihai no Susume"

It's just faggots trying to be 'le cool an' edgy Holla Forums contrarian!'.

There's been a swarm of them lately, like we got another halfchan exodus or something. People trying really fucking hard to fit in.

Fallout 1 and New Vegas are very solid RPGs with problems that ultimately hamper but do not destroy the core experience. Most of the idiots claiming otherwise have no actual semblance of taste and are just trying to stir shit because it makes them feel cool and edgy.

Bethesda would lose like half of it's community and nearly all of it's extended sales if they stopped producing modding kits. People have more fun with their games playing modded content than anything else.

Maybe now, but it wasn't originall meant to be that way. It was a pre-baked explanation to work modding capabilities into the universe's wider narrative. Morrowind's creation kit was one of it's grandest draws at the time of release.

I think the biggest difference is that New Vegas' world and plot is something with much greater potential for actual storytelling. It's one of the game's bigger draws, and one of the things people appreciate it a lot for. Thus people who actually know what makes a good story and quests get more inspired to create.

Elder Scrolls, inversely, is set up more like a sandbox medieval life-sim. Nobody plays it for the nonexistent plot, so nobody is there to expand on it. So you see more content about making that 'living' experience more robust.

checked

im on a skyrim tip

I don't even know how you got online given that it requires modifying a signal from its original "design" to a modulated sinc function for transmission. Shouldn't you have Polio, Measles, Mumps, or Rubella by now since vaccines in some cases are modified viruses. Go back to the hippy commune you pertinacious twat.

Yup, there's been an infulx of these lately.

I've noticed a bunch faggots complaining about old classics and calling them shit - especially RPG's

An endless source of frustration for me. Quest mods are my favorite kind. All the mechanical mods are kind of boring when I'm still playing the same old content. It's also frustrating because not only do I prefer fantasy settings, but Fallout's whole retro-future 1950s thing is something I actively dislike.

That problem could be solved with more Skyrim quest mods, but as we've seen, they're relatively rare and the ones that do exist aren't heavy on actual role-playing.

A quest mod for Skyrim wouldn't have to expand on what's already there. It could do its own story that doesn't tie into the existing content in any way. I actually think one of the hurdles to Skyrim quest modding is a perceived need to make quests fit into the existing world, as well as needing to make them fit into the convoluted metaphysics of TES lore. So, in a way, people actually don't treat Skyrim as a sandbox/toolkit as much as they should.

Bampu

Where have all the modders gone? Surely not FO4.

LE Holla Forums HATES LE BIDEO GAMES SPURDO

Enderal wipes the floor with Skyrim, OP. First genuine 'can't stop playing it until I beat it' in months.

Too bad the endings are a bit of a downer, though

Pretty much. That and Skyrim. It's even worse for me since I prefer Oblivion.
