Dragon Quest V

Does this game ever stop holding your hand and actually let you go out and explore on your own?

user pls

The game is about marriage? What the fuck, I thought I was going on an epic adventure to kill a Dragon Lord or Baramos or something awesome like that.

You're thinking of DQ1.

I'm thinking of all of the original trilogy yes, I just recently decided to give 4-6 a try (started with 5 just because). So you are telling me that DQ just changed to chapter based family building bullshit instead of fighting to save the land from monsters and evil? And people were okay with this?

You kill what is basically Satan in the end with your wife and kids

DQV is about being the father of the hero.

That's more interesting at least.

"the hero" Which game is that character in? Is it out of order like 1-3 or should I play the games sequentially?

Gonna give it too you straight, if you want to play Dragon Quest, replay 3 on the snes or play 8. The rest are mediocre at best. Have a nice day.

You are misunderstanding him, your son is the legendary hero in DQ V.

In the same game. There are three generations. At first, you are a little kid adventuring with your badass dad. Then he dies, and there is a time skip, and you are a young man who marries one of two or three girls (depending on the version) and have children. Then there is another time skip, and your kids are grown and you all fuck the villain up as a family.

Most unfortunate hero in the series, probably the most unfortunate in any generic RPG so far.

This villain is still one of the biggest cunts in video game history. Luca Blight from Sukoden 2 doesn't make it personal unlike this asshole who really goes out of his way to fuck your life up and many others.

I have a real hard time getting into RPGs that break the game into episodic chunks headed by different characters. Kind of makes any character building seem pointless.

I've started this some time ago, but I seem to have lost interest as soon as I reached the dark world, all I have to do is kill the final boss (or so I think), and yet I don't feel motivated to play and finish it for some reason. The game is nice, but I liked 3 way more, I'm playing the snes version since I couldn't play the other versions.

I didn't know the subtitle.

The only game that does that is DQIV.

The fact about III not holding your hand during your adventure is a huge plus, there's so much to do that is not related to main quest.

The worst part is you didn't got any any relief after defeating him for good, after that the hero and his family just gave his final farewell to his mother before going to the afterlife.

Yes, once you become an adult.

Wait, can you marry a dragon?

No, you can only marry humans. You can capture dragons and turn them into party members, though.

First JRPG? They're all like that.

...

Wow, that is super autistic.

no, that would be too confusing for weebfags

I want to be this autistic.

dayuuuuuumm

yea fam idk which version u playin, but i'm play da ds v 1 n shit seem pretty hand holdy. in da part w/ da monster party now n it cool n all but dam deez nyckas triflin son.

is dat western art from dq ii?

3 on gbc has a bit mo end game content if u into that tho but yea snes is higher quality all around.

4 was disappointing, i didn't like all da different chapters n shit when da meat of da game wasn't all dat long tbh monica.

You didn't even get to the marriage part man you're barely into the game

It just like this in this one game 4 is a pretty straight forward adventure with good and exploration

with the propensity of DQ heroes who dimension hop it's not entirely out of the question that everyone is somehow related to the bloodline of Ortega
in 5's case your hero is not of the heroic bloodline. Your wife is. Your son will be the incarnation of the legendary hero and wield the hero equipment

The first 3 Dragon Quest games do not hold your hand.

Fuck you nigga this game is great. And also Bianca and her Daughter are the cutest lolis in vidya

I wholeheartedly disagree, breaking it into chapters gives each character a chance in the limelight, rather than just being one-off additions. And it gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with their strengths and abilities. DQIV is actually my favorite for that reason, with DQV second.

Quite literally, once you make it to the first timeskip. And if you want to really exploit the game and try out all three waifus, go to the casino before picking one and play until you get some crazy good equipment, see if you can recruit a Metal Slime (I don't remember if you can yet), save, and then copy your file and pick a waifu. Then go back and pick a different one if you don't like her, or if you finish the game and want to do it again, et cetera, because your casino equipment will make it a breeze.

Also remember to use party chat. Spam that shit.
