They fixed the hitboxes a long time ago. Hanzo´s arrows are way smaller now, and hitscan weapon hitboxes almost match exactly the ingame character model. This vid in particular is outdated since months.

It's a real shame that Ana POTGs are so rare. since she was added to the game I've seen two Ana POTGs. One was me putting a charging Rein to sleep and killing him, saving a teammate in process and then ulting a reaper who went to get a triple. The second one was pretty much along the same lines by someone else.

Also they need to fix Mercy POTGs already. I'm so fucking sick of seeing a Mercy hide in a corner or behind a wall and get a three man res and then die instantly while I get quad kills and the game doesn't give a shit.

Really symmetra needs something to her kit. The turrets are nice, but when they take too long to 'refil' and can be wiped out by accidental bullets it's a pain. Just ramp up the refresh rate, and/or make her 'pocket' able to hold all six at once. Not a big change but it'd be enough.

Holding all 6 turrets as Sym would make her so much better to play especially since you have to rush point asap in order to get 5 of your turrets planted before the game starts. I'd honestly like to see her shield changed up, so it starts strong and eventually decays over a few minutes, so you have to keep track of allies shields.

You don´t have to change the existing abilites and the ult of Mercy. She just needs more survivability like any other healer. Ana has her sleeping darts and high damage output. Lucio has his speed amp and his bump. Mercy also needs a second ability that let´s her compete against the survivability of other support characters. Her guardian angel is not too weak, but compared to the other healers you´re completely dependent on your teammates if you want to save your ass.

I play lucio because it's the most mobile class. Between his wallriding, and his knockback he can keep people off the point for a while.

I have been thinking on how could CtF work in this game, if anything having the flag should either disable abilities or drop the flag when you use some high mobility stuff like blink, recall or rocket boost, the alternative would be 1FlagCtF where the goal is to get one flag on the enemy base instead of capturing each other's.

There should be a way to qualify Mercy's multirez in account of what the revived teammetes do right after coming back. I know the consequences of reviving half your team are not always immediate but it's the only way I can think of.

Hello Overwatch general, I'm interested in playing this game maybe probably eventually.
I don't like Team Fortress. I like having fun with friends, non-boring FPSs (rule of thumb, realism is boring), not being yelled at, working together to achieve a goal, cute things, silly things, exploitable game mechanics (e.g. MK in DD:DA), shiny things, and dogs.

There's generally more if you're playing one of the many characters with access to any mobility abilities.
The appeal is that you are playing against people who are actually trying, leading to more difficult and therefore more fun matches, than in quickplay where people are more likely to fuck around. Different people want different things out of their matches. Personally I don't play ranked, I like fucking around.
Can you link me to where people are falling through floors, I'm honestly curious since I haven't seen stuff like that since the beta. I used mostly fixed to describe Reaper teleporting where he shouldn't because that's one of those things that's hard to say if it's 100% fixed, a couple months down the line someone can find another spot, and it will most likely be fixed again.
This one actually bugs me. Abilities can be baited and if you just use them whenever they are off cooldown you're going to get your shit pushed in. Part of the reason I like abilities over weapons to differentiate characters is it leads to more mindgames and trying to bait out abilities from your opponent. Every ult can be countered, anyone saying they are free kills really needs to play the game more.
You can get all of them from playing the game without paying a dime.

They're in the same spot as the Huntsman in TF2, if they matched the model 100% there would be no reason to pick Hanzo over a hitscan character. I honestly don't think a bow and arrow based sniper has a place in these kinds of games because of this, but since he's in as long as he's balanced I'm fine.
I'm sure someone here has the webm from the beta where a player clips through the corner of a room and shoots people. Shit like that is fixed. What's mostly being fixed in maps is to stop a character with a teleportation ability from going into odd places (I can't be more specific, I never looked up how to do it myself).

For the record, this is the only blizzard game I've bought and whenever someone comes into the thread asking if it's worth money I say no, not because of any of these complaints but because the map and gamemode selection is really limited and can get stale.

If you can convince people to play with you, it'd be great. Some heroes have amazing synergy like Rein/Ana or Pharah/Mercy/Zarya. Basically you can pull off crazy shit if you have voice enabled.
It's pretty fun but fun's subjective. Mechanically wise Tracer, Roadhog, Junkrat and Ana are probably the most fun but it's usually up to personal preference.
I've had people rage at me but in text chat once or twice in the 30+ hours I've played, it's fairly rare and people keep the chat on constructive teamwork, especially in comp.
Essential, especially at higher ranks
You get cute character sprays for getting character unique achievements like freezing 4+ people with Mei's ult or rezing a large number of people with Mercy. Good luck getting that Lucio achievement of killing 3 people while wall running unless you push them off.
You're probably too late for the silly character stacking that just works, but you never know.
Not really exploitable but every character's gameplay style varies significantly. For example Lucio and Dva can push people off of ledges while mobile characters like Genji and Hanzo can access areas inaccessible to most heroes..
You can buy gold weapons for characters with points you get by winning competitive games and you get a bunch at the end of a season depending on how high of a rank you've achieved.

Anyways, the game probably has a max level, right? Either that or the levels get harder and harder to get.

If there's a max level I haven't seen it. When you get to 100 you reset to 1 and get a star under your portrait. The exp needed to level caps at around level 30 something too, and I usually get one or two per day without even trying.

He's good when you need to stall, or when squishies need to die, so on offense when you need to kill supports or genji is being annoying.

Every fucking Hanzo player ends up being a Hanzo "main", and they never fucking switch out.

Just today I had a Hanzo on my team, we're losing the point but rather than switch to something useful he fucking rushes the point alone trying to take out a reaper with his fucking slow shit arrows.

I've never met a Hanzo that wasn't glorified ult feed who misses 9/10 shots until they can do that dumb dragon shit.

It's by far his best tool, and Hanzo at his most useful.

The POTG algorith is absolute dogshit.

I think Hanzo has some pretty glaring faults in his core design but is more or less balanced so they'll probably never redesign him to fix any of them. His bow is clearly intended to be a mid range weapon but for mid range precision shots you're better off with the reliability of McCree or Soldier because even with the projectile speed buff hitscan is still infinitely more accurate, and when you get to ranges past where McCree and Soldier are good Widow and Ana surpass him instead. His scatter arrow is way too heavily influenced by RNG and should be made more predictable and consistent in how it bounces but then you'd also have to nerf its damage and he would end up basically just a Junkrat tied to a cooldown. His ult and his sonic arrow are better designed but have no real counterplay, as far as I can tell there's no way for the enemy team to know if and where his sonar is deployed and avoiding the ult can often come down to being a guessing game if he's point blanking it at you through walls.

It's because playing Hanzo teaches people shitty habits - people end up learning to aim for areas on the map, not actual enemies.

Once a Hanzo player realizes "if I aim at that piece of map geometry from this position, it'll headshot whoever walks around that corner" they'll do literally nothing but that.

It becomes painfully obvious if you rush them with someone like D.Va - you're this giant pink monstrosity with a mile-wide hitbox who's inches from their face but, despite this, they'll still somehow manage to miss 80% of their shots.

Blizzard is having a fucking giggle at my expense, I swear to Christ, I don't think that season high is anything but what I got after my initial placements. I play a lot of Rein, and it's rare that I come up against one and think "Wow this guys good." a lot of them really think their role is to do damage.

I played a QG on Eichenwalde last night, I'm sitting at the overpass/bridge as Rein giving my team some cover whilst they fuck up the enemy.

Opposing Reinhardt comes around the corner, charges into me and my team. I'm immediately healed by our Zen, and then team just murders the opposing Reinhardt.

This just kept happening on loop until they lost the game.

Don't even get me started on Mercy's who'll push alone with their dinky little pistol. How the fuck are they expecting that to work?

I tested the fucking hitboxes in a custom match. The head hitbox is maybe 2% bigger than the actual ingame model. But everything else matches nearly perfectly. If you think otherwise you should probably post evidence.

A lot of people think that having ult charge at all is a reason not to switch. They don't realise that switching to an appropriate hero at the right time will likely charge an ult quicker than the charge they lost (assuming it wasn't like 90%+, in which case just fucking use that shit and switch out).

I should point out too, in what you're saying you're basically implying that blizzard somehow intended torb to be out there shooting people down like a fucking mcree, which makes them retarded.

What Torb is supposed to do is complement his turret. There's hardly ever a time when repairing (ie babysitting) a turret is the right call. Just like Bastion it's better to relocate it. Meanwhile Torb himself is supposed to be out there taking advantage of the distraction the turret gives him or creating a distraction for his turret, and collecting scrap in the process. That's kind of why they invented the scrap mechanic in the first place, in order to trick players into using him correctly, or at least more correctly.

His level 2 turret does even less damage than Winston's gun while his rivet gun does 70 damage per shot at minimum. If you're babysitting a turret that does less damage than you when you can just shit out another one any time the enemy stops pressuring you, you're playing him wrong.

What's retarded about that? Torbjorn with some setup can put out a lot more damage than McCree and is better at taking care of flankers. McCree's worse at holding down positions but he's a lot better at pushing the enemy back because he needs no setup to deal damage.

The only thing i see, is that the overlap between head hitbox and body hitbox is a bit unclear for Lucio and Winston. That´s all. And that´s probably because they have the most awkward body stance in the whole game for maybe except Roadhog with his constant moving head. I´m interested to see the other heroes as well. I guess he picked those two heroes on purpose.

Also he can attack enemies from two angles on top of that.

torbs is never meant to be babysitting his turret, that thing is not worth your time when there are people to shoot and armor to collect.
i feel like hes in a messy place though. his turret and gun work well together but the armor collection is just a relic of his old design where he was essentailly a 1-1 copy of the tf2 engineer (except without the luxury of dispensers or ammo spawns).

i dont like symmetra either, but at least you know what youre getting in to with her. torb is meant to be a fortress because hes an extremely straightforward character while others in his defense category have some tricks up their sleeves. but torb doesnt exactly outshine them at what he does while having none of their utility or trickiness.

when my team is horrible and our only shot of making any progress is me doing some fancy flanking and knocking out the squishies, there is often a torbjorn to make life difficult. he will absolutely slow me down.

Just imagine if you needed widowmaker like accuracy only to heal your allies. The one problem i have with this aim assist is, that full health heroes often block shots for people who actually need health. But otherwise it´s fine.

if you want to use her to her full potential you arent sitting way in the back at sniper range. you wont be hitting many tranqs or heal bombs from that far away and youll be able to get better angles for healing people that need it.

well there are always exceptions, if they have a zarya on their team and she hasnt ulted for a while hang back further than usual, theres very little you can do about a dyke hole.

the ultimate goal is to keep people alive. occasionally that means shooting bad guys but youll have to make that call yourself. you want to keep your teammates in tip top shape, especially the squishies because they tend to dart around and make it difficult while youre the best in the game for keeping a fatty tank alive. you might not get a second chance to heal that tracer whos only missing 30 health later on, so do it now, be the granny.

sleep is your best tool, get good with it. it's basically like a one shot kill on anything for 5 seconds. solo Ana is suffering most of the time because it's one of the heroes that requires coordination. in solo you shouldn't waste your dart on the hero that's being shot currently, instead try to hit it on something that people aren't focusing. this is something a lot of anas seem to not think about. especially if you're not calling your shots the sleep will be totally wasted because most people aren't good enough to react to it fast at least not in diamond. scope is hitscan, noscope is projectile. focus on low health, back row, targets like supports/mcree if you're not healing which is your number one priority. ana is pretty much a direct counter to roadhog as well with the grenade. also no matter what the game says you're not a sniper even if you have a scope on your gun so don't play like one.

to be honest it's sometimes pretty fucking hard to hit allies on mid range when they're already jumping around trying to dodge enemies dodging your shots in the process. especially if you're too close to scope in and use the hitscan or there are other targets around. doesn't also help that the grenade arc is just fucking ridiculous. what really grinds my gears are allies in no danger asking to be healed but they fidget around strafing behind a wall or something. why the fuck would you not just stop and take the heals. much quicker that way.

i really hate how the need healing button is seen as rude. whenever im playing a healbot and someone is behind me asking for heals i appreciate them overcoming that horrendous social interaction and asking for a fucking heal.

as for the tank situation i can only really speak from my own point of view as im guilty of that sometimes. i think its a bad habit people pick up from lower level games when they cant rely on the damage dealers to back them up or take advantage of the havoc their presence is causing. they may be afraid of dying without getting anything accomplished.

As a healslut myself I can attest to this. I generally don't mind people reminding me if they take the time to say thank you.

Of course it's a different thing when there are idiots who decided to charge alone on the entire enemy team in an attempt to get their epic POTG ult multikill and getting their shit fucked up because of their lack of planning, then getting angry at their healers.

I keep an eye on the chat. There's an automated "thank you" when you start healing someone (or give him shields) but if it actually shows up on the chat, the player manually chose that option instead. Was the same thing back in TF2.

It's true that gratification feels fucking great when you get it. Someone actually bothering to face you and say "thanks" shows he actually cares about your character
I also keep this in mind when playing with other people and make sure to thank all healers and support characters, as well as commend good plays on everyone in both teams.
You can easily get yourself a dedicated pocket medic if you show him you'll protect him and say thanks.
I know because I do the same to those that help me
It keeps me alive for longer, letting me help more people, it's a purely strategic engagement

For real, I had a Tracer stand behind me today and melee me a few times before I noticed they wanted a heal.

Well you could try getting really good with Roadhog, Zarya or Zenyatta, they're all able to handle themselves and make an impact in most situations while also providing some support to teammates.

In my experience you can climb easily with a group of 3, make sure you have mics and try to use the pugs as your cannon fodder OR make them learn on the fly, is easier than going full 6v6 and risk playing against boosted accounts.

Other than that use a damage dealer or Symmetra when the map requires it, her damage output is insane and earns you an insane amount of rank.

I pretty much relegated myself to only playing Ana during this season due to that shit you mentioned, at the very least I can semi-consistently sleep some fucking cunt and turn the fight into a proper 5v5 if nothing else. The abundance of tracers and D.Vas who apparently love running into sleep darts is also a plus. This shit is getting downright ridiculous however, fucking Reinhardt dropping his shield and charging in gung-ho nearly lost my team the last game and completely lost the enemy team the game because both retards seemed to have their heads screwed on backwards. The friendly Rein even fucking commented that he's doing what he's doing because, and I loosely quote, "Soldier and Reaper don't do damage,if you think they do you're wrong, nobody else does damage here."

This in a team composition that featured fucking Ana and Mercy so we could just snowball the fuck out of them but nope, gotta fucking charge in off the cliff. All I want from life is to find someone to duo-q with at this point.
