I never got why this guy was made a writer. He was originally hired on as a concept artist, and a lot of his early art is actually really fucking good, and then for some reason he got promoted to being lead writer on pretty much all of their projects.

Seems like a cool dude, but goddamn he can't write for shit. Everything he does is a cliche filled mess, with his favorites being "good guy gets corrupted by evil goop, turns evil" and "previously savage and violent people are actually noble".

For example, if you can't take an existing idea and corrupt it, it's hard for Metzen to relate!

Problem with that train of thought in regards to Warhammer Fantasy is there was nothing really wrong with it before they decided to flip the table, and after they flipped it they brought in a small hideous ottoman to try and replace it. It wasn't as popular as 40k and wasn't moving the same numbers of minis but the rules were more or less okay and perfectly fine an edition or two back and the lore was all great. Pure greed drove them to try and make one last big event to sell a ton of shit in quick succession with fuckloads of rule supplements and fancy unique characters and units and then replace all of it with something they thought might make 40k numbers by virtue of being almost identical to 40k.
