I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make, OP. Do you mean to criticize people that exclusively play certain games with mods, to criticize the games themselves, or something else?

Anyways I'm in the camp of people that mod most everything that gets a community for it and will enjoy a shit game if it becomes decent with mods. Occasionally I'll even make my own mods but only if I play a ton of it (Dragon's Dogma) or have a fun idea that is easy to make (Making the charged version of the tesla rifle in Fallout 4 do 10x more damage and gib enemies but consume fusion cores on shots instead of cells. Yes I know the game is still mostly shit with mods but I am desperate for any game with a gun like the alien lightning gun in District 9.)

People will defend games purely on the basis of the fact they've modded it exactly to their tastes. And therefore they'll respond to any criticism of the base game as wrong because others don't have the mods they do.

Also I think its causing the playerbase in many communities of gamer enthusiasts to expect trash or unfinished games and have modders fix it later.

The way I see it, mods just let developers get lazy and the fanbase has to pick up the slack (the Elder Scrolls series is a good example, the base games are always so fucking bland and buggy). So yeah, when I see one of the main 'features' of a game being mod support I start to actually lose interest (that and I generally consider mods 'non-canon', and most modders are absolute cunts from what I've seen anyway, just look at all the hacks that jumped onto the paid mod bandwagon back when that shit was going on).

That being said there are also games out there which are already good where mod support only makes them better, but they are few and far between.

I've only played through the game once and never played the dlc even though I have it, but every time I reinstall I get trapped in a loop of modding until the install is nearly broken and uninstalling after 10 minutes of remembering that Skyrim is a shitty action game that mistakes damage sponges for progression. Honestly even if I played vanilla I think I'd still quit after an hour the gameplay is just that bland. I wish SHOTN would hurry up, presumably a bunch of the team is too focused on TR to make any real progress. MWO is currently discussing whether or not to try and support MWSE or to implement an integrated scripting system that isn't so kitbash, I'm really hoping they go with the latter.

That's why i haven't deinstalled Skyrim in over 4 years. Anytime i get the itch i just update the mods, check for new stuff, check the loadorder and play for the couple of hours until i'm bored again.

That's because there is no depth of mechanics. The entirety of combat is summed up in a single button.
There's no dodging mechanic, no significant armour mechanics, weapons are all very samey. Coming off the back of Dark Souls, this game is a standard case of sacrificing depth to have great breadth.

There's games like Skyrim, where the only reason to play them is for the porn mods, because they have no redeeming qualities as an actual game.
Then there's games like Dragon's Dogma, where mods can make a few QoL tweaks, but aren't at all necessary, and the optimum experience can be enjoyed purely vanilla.
There's a whole spectrum between these two extremes - like StarSector, which is pretty damn good on its own, but has a slew of fantastic mods that greatly enhance and even sidegrade the game with mechanics changes - or STALKER, which is a good (if buggy) franchise on its own, and has so many great mods that you require a map to make sense of them all, ranging from simply bugfix cleanup mods to total conversions and even Call of Chernobyl which combines the entire trilogy into a single fantastic motherfucker of a game.

Mods can "fix" anything, even what ain't broke. It's more a matter of how much, if anything, needs fixing, versus what certain players want to fix to suit their own desires.

I hold the same opinion on Oblivion. Without any mods it's pure garbage. Otherwise the engine with Wrye Bash allows you to completely overhaul the game tailored to your tastes which you can't do in Skyrim. Shit I reinstall Oblivion once a year just for Joburgs because wandering around Cyrodill not knowing when someone could push you over and rape you is an exciting experience.

Mods can definitely greatly improve a game, and if you enjoy some game heavily modded to your tastes, great. I'm glad you're having fun. There are certainly games I've enjoyed all modded up but wouldn't like nearly as much vanilla.

But, the important distinction is that a game that's good with mods is not, itself, a good game. A truly good game is good in its default state.

If a game isn't good without mods, it isn't a good game. Mods should not be considered a part of the game, and their quality and appeal should be judged independently even if they require the game to operate. Mainly, Bethesda needs to stop getting away with shoving out a mod framework with a tech demo-tier "game" and waiting for modders to make it worth the purchase price by volunteering their time.

Had a ton of mods for Fallout 4, originally. They were mostly fixes, with some tame content thrown in like damage rebalances for pipe weapons and sniper rifles, radio stations, backpacks, scrapping garbage piles, etc.. Stopped playing for a while so all the DLC could release and updates could stop breaking the mods.

Now I'm playing it fresh, with no mods at all, and it's just fine. I'm only looking to add in more music and bug fixes, now. Having fun.

I agree, it's a VERY slippery slope between installing porn mods and needing to make your own because none of them are exactly how you want them. I went most of my life without every installing a porn mod, but just a few days between installing one and making tweaks of my own.

But I've never done anything major because while I absolutely know my way around making both 2d and 3d content, I'm not really that good at the technical implementation end of things. So editing what's already there, usually not so hard at all. But adding new stuff entirely, replacing skeletons, and generally deeper stuff is beyond my skill level. I can make character models from scratch no problem, I can rig and animate a skeleton no problem, but figuring out exactly how to get them working in a specific game, not so much. When that stuff happens, it's because I have other people to tell me what exactly to do to get stuff in the game. Here's the exporter, here's the formatting, here's everything clearly and specifically. That's not the case when you're just at home modding stuff. Then it's a confusing slog with little to no good technical explanation.

I played the base game once, with a few bug-fix mods of course so my shit wouldn't crash/freeze every hour. I had fun with it. It wasn't deep or engrossing, but it was enjoyable. My shittop can't really handle a bunch of mods though. I'd like to try some of the total conversion ones that are out there though.

I got the SVII clothing pack. Never unpacked it (you're supposed to put those files in the Wizzard) so I wouldn't know how big it really is. I did get the Reiedit and HEXA Override thing but those aren't terribly huge. I think.

The Wizzard unpacks the files anyways, although maybe it wasn't actually 30 GB since it jams everything in a temp folder, applies the files to the main game, and THEN wipes temp for some reason.

You only need the HF patches for the main experience, and iirc those aren't more than a gig. If you want to go full with this you'll need at least 30 gb of space for the clothing, accessory and hair mods

Wasn't that not recommended early on? Like I said, only stuff I got are the SVII Clothing, HEXA Hair, and HEXA Override packs. Oh, forgot to mention 3D rooms. Those are the biggest ones. Not sure if UI mods like the Persona 4 skin count.

Speaking of mods, the HEXA Override preview pics feature nipples that look radically different from what the vanilla game offers. How do I get those? HEXA Override and ReiEdit only seem to give you extra faces.

I like modding my games, except when it came to Skyrim, that game broke me since it's impossible to fix. Hundreds of hours wasted ingame and in the Creation Kit, both adding mods of others, fixing them so they're compatible and finally making my own mods. It didn't help, immersion was permanently broken despite some pretty great ideas added by mods.

That was about two years ago, I finally started it again but in Fallout New Vegas. After some crazy glitches were resolved with properly handling Archive Invalidation, aside from purple faces, the game runs amazingly well and is far, far far superior to its original product.

tl;dr: Modding is great when a game actually has a 'heart' to mod around. Skyrim has no center, or 'heart'. Probably because the Nerevarine killed Lorkhan's Heart. Two hundred and five years later, these consequences have taken full root.

Before you start, you need a couple of things.

the framework: Sexlab, which most mods need to integrate animations, and download all the shit it requires, like other frameworks and Sky UI.

a body replacer mod for both males and females if you don't want them to literally pound pelvises in their underwear, and you have a mod that does that for you. for these, download SOS and CBBE, which replace both male and female models with naked ones, and SOS allows dick customization of both males and females if you're into that. there are also bodysliders that allow you to change body shape.

Next, you need an animation pack, one recommended is ZaZ and you can add more.

Lastly you need a mod that activates sexual animations through context, and there's a couple options. Defeat is rape and allows you to prostitute NPCs, and Eager NPCs is chatting up NPCs and basically saying "wanna fuck?", and they can deny you. Eager NPCs also accounts for those spells that endear NPCs to you, like Calm, as the talking system is based around NPCs' relationship with you, so if you've done a lot of shit, killed dragons and all that, people are more likely to hit you up for sex when you ask. You can even customize the difficulty of doing so, and set your own ugliness factor to make it harder.

This is the most basic setup. There's a lot more out there. You can find all this shit on loverslab. there's also combined animation and model packs that allow you to fuck dogs or whatever else in the game.

There's also a small mod that allows you to drain people's life force through sex called Deadly Drain, so it is literally possible to fuck your way through the entire goddamned game, screw Alduin to death, rape Ulfric when he asks you to kill him nobly for the folk songs to write about, etc.

Basically a 3d version of Sengoku Rance at this point.

This is the only way to actually have fun with Skyrim.

A level pack made for a mod, modded with a different mod made as a mod to the original mod.

Oblivion mod manager is all I use for loading mods. I then use BOSS or wyre bash if I need to make a merged patch or fix load orders.

I've not been able to really sink time into the game, but Mount and Blade is fun vanilla

I have yet to find anything that lets me be a demon lord fighting the forces of light to conquer the land, taking control of cities and forcing them to pay tributes, capturing people and corrupting them into champions in my army, draining them to increase my power, modifying them for fluid milking or prostitution to fund my empire, and ultimately plunge the world into sex-driven madness. Additionally could try to retain your purity, become the champion of the light, and try to defeat the source of the growing darkness.
I want something that is like Overlord, Corruption of Champions, and Free Cities, all combined into one decent sex/civ management sim.
Another thing is living clothes/armor that isn't just some item, but is actually a disease that can be spread, tries to get you to have sex, and gains new abilities and power the more you fuck. The more you resist it, the more power it has over you, but will trust you if you fuck a lot on your own and eventually stop trying to force you.

One of Skyrim's biggest issues is that it is derivative, boring, casualized garbage. Giving it a whole new aesthetic, gameplay, goals, weapons, mechanics, music, and generally making it feel like something love was poured into rather than bland trash makes a huge difference.

I've also experienced the pain of playing on Ps3, by the way. There's nothing in there that nukes saves though so you should be fine.

If you plan on making a repack I do have three things to say though:
1: I forgot to add the mod that lets you choose where to spawn the first time to the list. I may have forgotten one or two others as well but I'm fairly confident that for the most part this is accurate. Also I used a lot of graphics downgrade mods at the time which may have made the game weirder looking.
2: I had the music set up very specifically if you plan to repack the OFF soundtrack. I could just download the mod and send you off the folders with the songs properly named and placed if you'd like. I had it set up so most of the more sombre music (such as the five variants of 13 residents) played in cities and the world whereas the more weird music played in combat and in caves.
3: I still need to test out the mods working in tandem myself. This is due to the fact that it has been about three months since I could play like this (Shipping in Canada takes a fucking long time). But as I did say before this is, from memory, my set up. If there is anything I could personally help with for the repack feel free to ask.

Adding onto this some songs play incredibly quietly and have to adjusted in an external editor. I had to do this with a fuckton of the soundtrack and it took me about two days of on/off modding. But, if you guys want, I can try and make that part so you fucks don't have to suffer through it.

Yes they did, they let you stop mission timers from ticking down while you're concealed, which is that games only flaw.

FO4 can't be fixed, that much is true.
Skyrim, on the other hand, becomes very enjoyable once you replace quick-travel with real carriages and re-balance everything else to your liking.
Graphics mods are a given, and unless you're some raging autist that needs camera effects applied to eyesight, you'll actually end up with reduced requirements and increased stability thanks to the community patches.

That just means you didn't find the ones you'd enjoy(or can't enjoy Minecraft at all, which honestly is by no means a flaw of character).

You don't play sexmods on Oblivion and Skyrim specifically for the animation. You play it to use the full freedom the original game had with the added effect of porn. Everything you do is static in terms of how the porn progresses. You're not playing it because you want to focus entirely on animation, you're playing because you have complete freedom on what happens next unlike almost all ero games. The animation ranges from bad to good depending on who you ask. To me the animations serve their purpose well enough.

The advantage of TES games is that they are relatively easy to change. If they released it with the devtools and simple mechanics you can add or remove we'd have a pretty neat Western RPG maker.

About a year ago I thought I`l see if I can play it on PC to use resurrection as my in game wife died after getting caught in the Mages portal spell`s blast and the highest level thraw spelling wasn't working.

I'd sure love it if Skyrim had some horror elements. Something you can't defeat unless you have the right tools for it.

For example: Oblivion's modded trolls lived under bridges and regenerated extremely fast unless you used fire (or a torch) against them. Vampires would only be damaged by silver and so on.

Skyrim's combat was never and can never be fixed, only worked around. And even then everything else about the game - performance, story, RPG aspects - is still a shit twinkie.

Minecraft is the odd man out in a sense because there are quite a few good mods for it but the modding community is absolutely autistic and horrible. Moreso than other modding communities. And the major mods all fail to capture the spirit of the original alpha and beta versions of Minecraft.

No they didn't. Have they fixed all the technical bugs and the shit amount of optimization because I just launched the game and it still runs like absolute ass.

Grenadiers need to be removed from the game or heavily modified so they don't have so much utility or firepower as well as all the changes that fag you replied to made. Even then you're better off playing UFO: Defense or Long War.
