I would say "skinhead subculture" wasn't coopted insomuch as different factions formed overtime which led to some choosing Nationalism and others choosing Socialism; quite an organic progression, actually. By the time the '80s rolled around, Nationalist parties actively canvassed and catered to skinheads, so that's when far-right skinheads became identifiable.

While experienced and knowledgeable fans didn't bother with Ludwig's shit, the younger entry-level fans got mislead big time. It was basically a non-internet gamergate 20 years before gamergate. She eventually was shitcanned but had staffed the magazine with enough fellow travelers to keep her agenda going a few more years before they went out of business.
The story does have a happy ending though. Ludwig died a horrible agonizing death from cancer a couple years ago and was financially destitute when she died.
If you can find scans or PDFs of issues during her tenure, read them and see how much her writing tone matches that of the Zoe Quinns and Sarkeesians of today.
