I usually play Senran Kagura Estival Versus for my share of fan service and dress up. But I am a fan of DOA5:LR. It doesn't get taken seriously because it completely embraced being a fanservice game. However it's one of the better 3D fighters out there and it's very enjoyable once you learn how to play properly. It's not on the level of Virtua Fighter 5 but it's better than Tekken imo.

It has a paper rock scissors aspect to it where punishing with the right tools causes more damage. Holds > strikes > throws > holds. Baiting people into doing things you want them to do in this game matters more than footsies. Tina, a grappler, has powerful strike combos and throws but shit holds. You'll poke people and not combo to make them block or hold. Then you throw them for big damage. If you can't then you use powerful strike combos to make them regret not holding. However her strikes are slow so you need to mix in throws often to avoid being countered.

Striking someone from behind, juggling, and putting them in critical stun robs them the ability to hold mid combo. There are moves made just so you turn around people or get behind them. There's also the power strike, super launcher, and your super move (which Tekken just added and works nearly the same way) you get access to at half health. There's also a weight system which changes the way you juggle people.

It's actually a good fighter. Biggest problem I've heard from people are the questionable hitboxes you'll run into every once in a while. However since the game barely has any sort of spacing and footsies (which Tekken and Virtual Fighter 5 do a better job at) this isn't much of a problem.

Don't know if this'll work but it's what high level play looks like. Combos aren't long and it's all about punishing and baiting.
