I really want to make an American conspiracy/cryptid lore jRPG. Like the last Shadow Hearts but more gumshoey.

I felt that way when they introduced flying ship in BW2

nah. They wouldn't waste a qt monster design on a single game and not reuse it in some fashion, it doesn't seem rational. Besides, this is the first of a few of a class of Mon known as Ultra BEASTS, emphasis on the S, and it's name is offically UB-1, which implies more.

Either the entire thing is an elaborate setup where everyone is disguising as these things as part of the plot, or it's a new class of mon with it's own type or gimmick, or a new legendary class to up the ante.

It might have a completely "unique" moveset that sets it apart from other mons, or it might not follow conventional rules. Might just be a boss, I don't know.

There is one thing that's off, it's that the info specifically said that it looks and moves like a young girl.

Shin Megami Tensei introduced the Septentriones ayyliums, which don't really follow mythology like usual in their games. I think this is going to be the most experimental pokemon game yet, which isn't really saying much in the grand scheme of things.

Calling it now, the ultra beast thing is directly linked to the totem pokemon mechanic. The franchise has been around for a million years now and only now are they introducing something other than gym leaders that resembles a proper rpg boss. Instead of fighting what is essentially just another trainer with slightly better pokemon, you can fight totem pokemon which are wild pokemon that get stat buffs and some special gimmicks attached, like summoning lower level pokemon to assist. What the ultra beasts are going to be are essentially totem pokemon that aren't pokemon you can actually catch, letting them do interesting things with them without worrying about fucking over game balance. I also expect legendary pokemon to be post game super bosses using the same mechanics.

The quality of digimon games varies due to the fact that they attempt new things and try to change stuff up. i think they hit a good zone with World 1 but haven't replicated the whole "single partner who you gotta take care of as you travel through a strange world".

All of them had flaws (some where nothing BUT flaws) but they kept trying things.

If nintendo got their hands on it, they would tank it in some manner. the gameplay would function, but then we'd lose the very enjoyable digimon like pics related.

Dude, they don't know. They honestly thought that Dragon type was so broken that it needed a new counter type. Dragon Type is not broke, it is underwheelming. Individual Dragons on the other hand are what is strong. Look at all the shitty types: Bug, Grass, Psychic, Ice, do think they will get buffed? Fat chance.

Frisk is pretty useless, I mean, regular exeggcutor gets Chlorophyl and Harvest, those are both a thousand times better than frisk.

Psychic used to be really strong until they introduced dark.

Grass is actually pretty ok, but Bug, Psychic, Ice and Rock are shit types of the worst caliber.

I honestly think fairy was made to counter the Dark/Ghost combination.

Oh, yeah, I agree, Frisk is inferior to those Chlorophyl/Rain Dance are solid 9/10 Abilities only surpassed by Speed Boost. Havest can work and it is fun, it would be better if it always activated or had a really high chance(70% outside the Sun).

Yungoose and Gumshooz are clearly Normal-type, though if they are supposed to be toning down the Alolan-Raticate population they might have fighting type moves.

To top it off, psychic's supposed counter, ghost, was stuck on a dual-typed ghost/poison mon, and as you know, poison is weak to psychic.

That means psychic's supposed counter was also weak to psychic. Ghost was under-appreciated until they added a bunch of pures in gen 3.

Fairy is ending dragon types the same way dark ended psychics. Fairy is the reason why poison types are suddenly relevant again.

Poison moves are, maybe, but poison mons aren't.

Gengar is relevant due Ghost type. If anything, the buff to poison made a good pokemon better.

if youre talking about salandit, its ability allows it to ignore immunity to the status condition poison (and toxic). we dont know if it ignores type immunity as well

And that mon has a 4x weakness to ground(most steel types get EQ, earth power or even bulldoze)
It'll do jackshit against steel types, when people see it they'll just switch out.
