One can only guess what their background is. In NYC I haven't had a single white Uber / Lyft driver and subsequently stopped using the service, as I didn't want to ride with assorted 3rd world scum.

I never understood the point of services like Lyft and Uber other than to break up the current corrupt Taxi model and being only slightly cheaper.

You order an Uber with your phone and there's no transaction with the driver it automatically bills to the card you've setup.
You get a time estimate of when the car will arrive including a GPS driven display showing where it is.
If there are any difficulties coordinating the pickup you just click a button on the display and call the driver.
No tip required. When the ride is over just get out of the car and walk away.
You can immediately rate and review the driver. If they do not maintain a near 5 star rating they lose their job.

I've never tried lyft but Uber is several orders of magnitude better for the consumer. It's not even really cheaper in most instances.
You obviously haven't been in a cab in the past half century. Every official taxi I have ridden in the past 15 years was driven by a light bulb head nigger who can't speak english and can't work a simple GPS driving a 15 year old crown vic. If some shit goes wrong do you think it matters who these niggers answer to? Uber has gone downhill but at least in the first few years the drivers were almost exclusively white and driving new or almost new cars. As of late though I've noticed a shit ton more shitskins and immigrants driving for uber.

The current model exists for a reason.
If taxi numbers in urban areas were allowed to match demand then traffic would be at a constant standstill. More so than it already is.
You have to limit taxi quantities to get people to use mass transit that results in road access being available for goods vehicles.
I don't think Uber caters to the demand so much as the supply: as in there are so many unemployed/underemployed Americans forced into a service industry just to own/maintain a car. same reason every female—EVERY FEMALE—is now at least an unofficial camwhore…including minors.
