My faith and hope for Berseria is rapidly dropping day by day. I don't know what I'll feel if it ends up being a complete turd like Zestiria.

Battle wise it's a lot better than Zesty. First of all there's no more link/fuse bullshit. Everyone is capable enough for solo work.
Movement is Graces style, but with free run as the default movetype.
There's also Xillia1-style inbattle character switching, but it requires one consumable point (can't do it free) and unlike Xillia's, this one does not interrupt flow - in fact it can be used to follow up on combos.

The way I see it, first, it's the same designer for both characters (Mutsumi Inomata; starting with the Xillia games they've used the artists more in conjunction with each other on the same projects, so she does designs for some, Fujishima does designs for some, and occasionally they get Okamura doing designs for major characters like Ludger). Second, same animation studio of Ufotable for openings/cutscenes.

That said, I don't have a PS4 so I can't give Berseria a go anytime soon, so I can't say for certain.

The hair is the only thing that's even close to being the same.

It is disappointing. I pirated the PS3 version, just reached the final level and it's a good Tales game for the most part. Still not sure how I'd rank it against the older games in the series, I won't be able to really say for a few months, this is still the honeymoon period after all. Better than Zestiria, that's for damn sure.

Speaking of Zestiria, I'm a masochist and want to go through the PC version of the game. I downloaded a DLC pack that has everything but the Evangelion costumes. Anyone have any links to those? I can't find them anywhere.

Really? I'd say the exact opposite, it's a shit game, basically all the problems from Zestria return in one way or another.
The camera's a bit better and they removed the god awful armatization system. Those are the only positives I can give to it.

it's a 4/10 game. Zestria was a 2/10 game, and they still have only gone backwards ever since they keep trying to fuck up the battle system.

I'm still in the honeymoon period, no telling how I'll think of it in a few months. By the way,

Anyway, I liked the characters, I really liked the girls. Glad in-game costumes are more numerous than in recent years. Some people hate the "every attack is an arte" thing, but I like it fine. Like the default free run, that's really nice. Battles can feel a bit button mashy at times, but maybe that's my fault.

Dungeons aren't great. Aside from good dungeons in general, I miss good final dungeons. Music isn't bad, but it's not great.

No shitty camera, a decent amount of in-game costumes, a great protagonist, a somewhat better fast travel system (at least you won't sink as much money into buying bottles as you would teleporting in Zestiria. I only spend maybe a couple thousand gald on them over the course of the game, if that), you can use whoever you want in your party instead of having two characters forced in, no Kamui… It didn't fix all of Zestiria's problems, but I think it fixed a fair few, and is definitely a better game over all. When I played Zestiria I kept thinking "I'd rather be playing Tales of Symphonia or any other good game in the series", but when I played Berseria, I wanted to play Berseria.
