First for best ship

Anyone made guides for playing that nip only gundam game?

Gonna have to narrow it down user

This is a space thread not a Power Ranger one

nah

Eclipse has that enormous hook jewnose on the front. It's kind of disgusting.
I prefer the simple, sleek design of Executor.

That would be a Megazord user not a gundam

You mean the one that look like jar Jar's head?

What's the difference, engineering-wise, between a "zord" and a "mech"?
Are the lions from Voltron zords or mechs? For that matter, if one of the old Transformers had room for a pilot to take manual control, would it be a mech or a zord, or would that depend on whether it was a traditional transformer or a Beast Wars transformer?

The next obvious question is: what's the difference between a mech and a gundam?
I'd personally say that a gundam is a subset of mechs that are agile enough to dance space ballet.

Hell if I know all the names and types but it remains a human made out of boxes or something that sometimes flies in space and sometimes doesnt

OP said mobile suits mang.

There's more than one?

Are the lions from Voltron zords or mechs? For that matter, if one of the old Transformers had room for a pilot to take manual control, would it be a mech or a zord, or would that depend on whether it was a traditional transformer or a Beast Wars transformer?

Other than some use magic and some use tech nothing at all

Nothing it's just the name of an Advanced Mobile suit

Because mechs are cool

Your forced memes will always be dreams and will never stop me from seeing the beauty and love of the Venator

Plenty, lots of gundam games never came outside of Japan even when Gundam was booming in the west.

How do Borg-cubes move? I mean, they don't seem to have any engines

Always thought of transformers as belonging to mecha despite the lack of pilots, up until headmasters anyways.

So when talking about Gundams, and the only one I really know is Wing Zero because Gundam Wing is the only Gundam show I've ever seen when I was a kid, as compared to slower mobile weapons platform style mechs as seen in mechwarrior or early Armored Core games, is there no clear distinction from a technical standpoint?

The fast ones that can zip around through the sky like a faerie on acid are just "advanced" and the ones that lumber around at more realistic speeds while carrying planet-cracker level ordinance are "basic" models?

...

Their whole technomeme is based around distributed technology. There's probably hundreds or thousands of tiny impulse thrusters across every single surface of each cube, along with hundreds of shield generators and deflectors and so on. That's why shooting them mindlessly has no effect until you accidentally hit a critical system much deeper inside the core of the cube, and also why they typically spin as they move in a straight line.

thanks

Gravity manipulation bullshit? Or this

I'm thinking of one thats been going around recently thats a purely online team pvp deal with the noble rebels fighting evil feds.

...

A Mech without a pilot is a robot user. That's why they are called a robot in disguise.

No there is a far different technology standpoint, It's just that Mech is the catch all term for a giant pilot able robot, And in Gundam a Gundam is a Mobile suit of it's own league usually made with advanced tech ahead of the others.

You mean Mobile suit gundam online?

Oh, I get it. For some reason I thought that "mecha" was the catch-all term, and terms like "mech" and "gundam" described specific types of "mecha".
Thanks, user.

Well they are all mechs is just that each show has it's own idea of how a mech operates so you weren't wrong about it being a catch all term but would be wrong in calling all mechs gundam

"Gundam" is name of first Mobile Suit Prototype of Corrupt Federation. Name for "mech" in setting - MS, mobile suit.
They have bunch of intresting techs in original that set them apart from Battletech mechs.

Guess so.

Also which game is this?

Gundam extreme vs series.

Looks like gundam extreme but I could be wrong

Like a heavy reliance on giant mechanical hands on a mech for holding the weapons like an infantryman would a rifle, right down to pulling an over sized trigger with one of the robot suits hands.
All of which is idiotic of course. Its not hard to figure out why a modern tank doesn't have arms for holding a comically oversized gun. With comically oversized magazines that have to be manually switched by the robot hands.
Instead modern tanks rely on internal magazines kept protected under the armour and use a gun thats build into the tank, allowing the tank to much more accurately aim and fire the weapon, and with far less effort too. Instead of designing a giant hand, with giant dexterous fingers for pulling a trigger on a giant firing mechanism that sits exposed on the weapon, just to fire the cannon.
And hands give a far worse grip on the weapon than building it into the machine does, forcing the giant robot to reposition its hands on the weapon regularly and leading to the previously discussed drop in accuracy.

You can't throw your weapon for acceleration in space, if it's integrated. It's weapon for space. Giant oversized hands are for cool look and AMBAC system (Active Mass Balance Auto-Control).

It's called a Guntank user

All you said is true, Gundam is powered by stupid, but MS were originally developed for space combat only. The thinking was that they could very easily use their limbs to quickly rotate on their axes without expending propellant to do so.

They only became a vehicle for ground warfare after Zeon failed to mass drop the Federation into submission.

It's still dumb. A tank survives by clinging as low to the ground as it can. Armor is secondary, and quickly becoming a tertiary (after camouflage, IR and laser spoofing and active defense systems) means of survival.

Mecha is just short for "mechanical".
Transformers are in fact mecha.

But it's lower then Zaku. And more artillery unit than something else. And dead end in MS design's evolution.

A tank can't compete with a mobile suit (at least the later designs)

Do you know what a tank is?

This game sure is pretty, wish there were better third person camera controls.

It's still close to 15 meters tall. It's just begging to be shot at from a tank in hull down position.

I understand rule of cool, I really do, but if MS can be fucked over by a 120mm gun then there is very little Zeon could have done if the Federation had just kept spamming tanks at them.

The problem with Gundam is that it wants the cake and to eat it too.

Are we really having this argument?

Sure, in universe mobile suits beat tanks performance wise every time, but that still doesn't mean that they aren't a moronic concept. I'm not even so against them in general as I am at their size in particular. Something like VOTOMS mecha makes a lot more sense.

If armor was so effective why do you think armies today are scrambling to implement active defense systems? Turns out AT weapons have far outpaced the protection armor can provide on its own.

Even earlier, you had smoke dispensers and reactive armor.

To be fair, there's no tank in existence that can stand up to even a single strike from tank-buster artillery. Tanks are mostly useful against unarmored ground-based infantry or militia, and even then they can be destroyed by sustained RPG attacks.

If we're talking tanks versus higher forms of artillery, be they planes or mechs or what have you, then armor is the least of their concerns. Camouflage, countermeasures and mobility should be much higher on the priority list.

Well, that's pretty good explanation for sci-fi. Not perfect, but better than 90%.

Best engine sounds reporting in.

I was looking at a FDL, but no matter what documentations or stats I read on it, I couldn't figure out what the hell the ship was supposed to be good at.

It's not a fighter, because its primary weapon overtaxes its undersized power plant.
It's not a trader, because it has fuckall storage capacity.
It's not an explorer because it has one of the worst jump ranges in the galaxy.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's an artillery support escort corvette, designed to hang back in a convoy and lob plasma or cannon fire at incoming larger ships while protected by a screen of vipers.

So what is it, exactly? Is there any way that the FDL outperforms, say, a Vulture or a Python?
I really dig its aesthetic design, but its engineering confounds me.

are there actually people who think this game can be considered a sim?

The ships in ED have sound simulation systems
And taking user's control problems into account, the third person seems to be more for looking at stuff rather than actually playing the game

On one level I agree with you, but it's also worth mentioning that "sim" doesn't necessarily mean simulation of reality. It can mean "simulation of science fiction" in which case anything goes - it just tries to make it as immersive and in-depth as possible within the rules of that specific fiction.

Hmmm still not an Excelsior

Simulation is the imitation of a real world operation. You can't bend straws and say it an imitate fiction otherwise the word holds no meaning. There's no noise in space period. The only explanation would be if the thrusters somehow disrupted the vacuum from where the thrusters are to where the 3rd person camera is at, which I doubt is the case.

Even then the fact that thrusters make noise is a detriment towards the game. Though to be fair I don't know how the game sold itself. If it never held the condition that it was a space sim then it's not really guilty of anything. Either way you would definitely not call this game a sim in any regard.

Even in hard vacuum you'd be able to hear your own engine, weapons and most other equipment on the ship, since sound travels very well through metal. Its like someone in your apartment building several flats over hitting a radiator. The entire building is going to hear that.
Your engines do the same thing inside the ship. And the guns. Really, a spaceship should be an incredibly noisy place to be.

Star Trek ships are retarded.
They may look alright but the designs are beyond stupid.

I'm talking 3rd person noise. First person is normal.

It's a fighter. The best fighter in the game.

To the user who said Star Trek Beyond Shit was a decent fall asleep during/boring action film
You really understated how boring it really was
Also, what's up with all the "muh starfleet isn't a military organization" that infests those films

Unless you expect 3rd person view to be from a guy literally hanging behind the ship in space, instead of someone on the ship enjoying a point of view from a camera drone or looking at VR generated from the ships sensor data to help him navigate the ship, that would make sense…

...

Why live?

I prefer "The Little Starship That Could".

You kind of answered that yourself. Gundam is pure super robots, as far as their ability to move is concerned.
If you imposed newtonian physics with silly nonsense like having to accelerate every time they change direction the robots would not move in like they do in the show. The G forces in half those turns to kill their pilots.
But that's what you get for liking a show about "real robots" that somehow always end up doing most of their fighting with laser swords…

I wouldn't call it a space sim, I'd call it a spaceship sim. Seeing as human piloted combat spaceships are basically impossible as far as the laws of physics and thermodynamics go, there should be no such thing as a "space sim" beyond something like Orbiter, Moonbase Alpha or Take On Mars.

The mediocre crap that only a feeble fleshbag could come up with, not proper superior Tholian craftsman ship for sexiest carrier in the game…

Carriers are fun.

Anyone else here remembers Holla Forumslancer? the mod Holla Forums made years ago for freelancer?

I remember it was a reddit-tier cancerous ball of memes, but I only saw the trailers people slapped together back in the halfchan days.

Leave it to a seedfag to get everything wrong. UC uses plasma swords contained in magnetic fields.

That's what all of halfchan was during those years.

Ain't that the truth.

there are more jp gundam games then there are stars in the universe

Seems you missed the point, let me be more blunt.
If you build a thousand ton, high tech engine of death, why would you design it to work only in meele range? This is W40K levels is stupid design.
It doesn't matter if the sword is a laser, plasma beam or some super unobtanium alloy with bullshitium vibrations, it shouldn't be the main weapon of any warmachine from the 21st century onward.
The fundamental problem with gundam style robots, is that they aren't designed as warmachines, they're build at giant people, so they can swing giant katana's and wear giant samurai armor because in the gundam universe military tactics peaked in the Sengoku Jidai and have never evolved since. Its a notion so utterly retarded that only Japanese TV could come up with it and only a complete weeaboo would ever defend it.

Is there any game sort of like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in SPACE?

...

That's because of Minovsky Particles fucking up everything long range if I remember correctly. IMO that's a good enough explanation though sometimes I still wonder WHY did they develop Minovsky partcles and fucked up long range warfare for everyone since spreading them on the battlefield kills long range warfare for both sides.

Melee gear would probably be cheaper than guns/bombs/etc. in the long run.

that second one isnt a transformer, its a character from accel world

That's what Destiny should have been
They even have the right thematic setting for it

The Precursors. Also made by slavs.

Seems interesting user. What's wrong with it?

Because that's the best way that mechs work as an idea, especially in space where the legs are fairly useless except as a place to mount thrusters, being able to use fully articulated arms and hands is the only thing they have going for them, that can be exploited
It's also fucking awesome

I didn't say there's anything wrong with it. But since you asked, when I played it the translation wasn't finished, so a bunch of story stuff wasn't available. It was still great though because the game felt like it was more about exploring and getting cash, with the story just there as justification. From what I've heard, the translation might have been finished since then, but it's great either way.

Honestly I'm hoping Elite Dangerous gets fleshed out to be more like The Precursors. So far The Precursors is the best game out there that combines space gameplay and ground gameplay. Even has a cozy ship interior you can walk around, though not much to do in it.

Problem with giant hands, is that any gun you can make as a giant rifle, will work better if its build as a dedicated part of the robots arm.
Better control, since it can be wired directly into the robots controls, more accurate, since a gun in a proper mount, rather than hands, is going to be far easier to point at a specific point, ammo can be moved into the robot, under its armour, making it better protected, there's less maintenance since you no longer have a robot hand with dozens of joints in it that needs to constantly be fine tuned so the machine doesn't break a rifle when it picks it up, and all the weight you saved on making the gun part of the machines arm instead of separate with its own mechanism and ammo supply, all of which has to be armored, you can probably scale the whole thing up to give your robot more firepower than it would have as a rifle.
There is only 1 thing a mech with a giant rifle can do that you couldn't do better with a build in gun, and thats drop it to scavenge an enemy weapon in its place. This of course opens up all kinds of other problems, so there's a lot of reasons why you do not want this kind of ability on your own giant robot guns.

Well, one really good reason for a robot to have hands is so it can jerk off. Didn't think of that, did you Mr. Smarty Pants?

There's no law that says you can't have hands and weapon mounts

...

SIEG ZEON

When a mobile suit grabs a gun they actually plug into it and use the camera built into the gun to aim. Also some weapons used the suits on board generator to power the weapon because they couldn't store the energy in the weapon itself.

Is that why so many of their giant robot guns also come with giant robot scopes?

It's r63 TFP soundwave as far as I'm concerned.

This kind of upsets me, there's always learning moonrunes but I got my plate full of other shit I'm already having a tough time with not putting off.

Not him, but I only ever had wing growing up. Where to go?

One of the easier to nitpick issues with using robot hands to hold robot-sized weapons that contain their own stabilizers and/or targeting technology goes back to complexity - the more moving parts something has, the more things that can and will go wrong.

If you have a hand with five fingers that grip a gun with a trigger that has a plug that connects to your suit's sensors and displays that targeting info for pilot verification on a monitor in the cockpit, that's a whole lot of parts that can malfunction:
Any one of these things malfunctioning could cause your shot to miss or worse.

Having an arm that is itself a cannon doesn't remove the possibility of malfunction, but it reduces the complexity by 30-50%, which has a direct correlation to failure chance.

I think humanoid robots are sweet as hell, but just sayin'.

But how else will you have scenes where the giant robot extends it's hand so a small person can step onto it like a platform and get ferried around on the world's most impractical giant robot taxi?

I concede that those scenes are super important and should not be sacrificed for the sake of mere sanity.

Star Ruler 2 is actually a really fun game if you pretend it isn't a sequel.

the impractical hubris giant mechs is half the appeal tbqh

You can't play in 3rd person. It's a "debug camera". Also, sound simulators.

When I was an RPing fagtard and took over as an Supreme Commander in the New Republic, I make the Lusankya my flagship. Pulling it out of my ass that I found it. Later I stole the Guardian from Kraut Drive Yards as I remember. This was when Fleet Junkies retcon'd the Executor-class to 19km and introduced what they said were Super-class for the one that looks like the Executor but is 7km.

After we destroyed the Lusankya taking down a super weapon I made pic related my sexy ass flagship

The hand doesn't HAVE to hold precision weapons. This would reduce the need for constant fine tuning of the hand, since you no longer need to aim an artillery piece that will have its aim thrown off by even a fraction of a millimetre, landing its rounds miles from its target.

Touché. You win this round…

Why are black holes so scary, Holla Forums?
I don't usually get motion sickness and going near this small one nearly made me hurl

I've always thought the Covenant Assault Carrier was sexy.

Tholians have been using the same damn designs since Enterprise Era. In Enterprise Era they were kickass but their technology never progressed far after that.

That's not a Viper!

it purrs

Gundam Extreme

you're thinking MSGO

Recently Taiwan got their own server, but they got rid of fed vs zeek, the game is team A vs Team B, good news it's back to a primarily grunt slug fest with very few gundam types on the field

JP version is a power creep cluster fuck

The (((Kelvin Timeline))) movies were written as generic sci-fi action films where the main characters occasionally dressed up like Nazis then some dumbass decided to worm in magic blood nonsense and spend a chunk of the movies constantly moralizing to the viewer how Starfleet should be about peace and exploration while everyone spends the entire movies being screaming retards that shoot anything and everything they see.

Now what warship would you use to stomp the cucks in Starfleet?

The black holes in Elite are fucking superb in the lensing effect. They just need accretion disks now (which are supposedly in the making).

I've been to bigger ones and holy shit do things start to get scary. I've won't even get close to the exclusion zone freaks me out too much. Something in my head is telling me "TURN BACK YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKER"

One thing to do is to get really close and then drop outta warp. Then do 180 degrees and Supercruise directly away from it. Shit gets trippy.

Drop down to it and hear the sounds
Some people think the odd sounds are Thargoid engine's and ships and the fuckers will appear and stream out of black holes

Yes. Because those are cameras. In 8th MS team one of the main characters Ground Gundams gets its head punched off and she has to use the camera on her gun to navigate.

Yeah I understand. And the only ones with the five fingers are the GM and Zaku lines. And the Feddies based their GMs off of the Zaku and I guess they stuck with it. Zeon went off to make a bunch of crazy shit that kept looking less human.

But then again Earth didn't really need to experiment with different designs when they can keep pumping out cheep and reliant GMs.

I just want to be a zaku II, is it easy enough to sneak into MSGO?

How can you improve perfection?
Even as a puny old T5-U it can still outperform most feddie ships.

Tholians and everyone else are about on par in 2410

...

...

Opps. Didn't mean to post that last image twice. Meant to post this.

Venatorfags please leave.

I was honestly expecting that one to be bigger than it was, but I have now decided that I have little desire to experience the big ones.
Fucking lensing. Makes me ill and scares the shit out of me.

Way 2 spooky dude

His zaku is clearly red, why is his RG figure pink?

Poor taste.

JP requires a VPN (mudfish is cheap and effective, 3 bucks last a year)

TW version has a bit more latency than the JP version, but it works without a VPN

Still better than Venators either way

I recall seeing a recolor version of Char's Zaku that is suppose to be more red than pink, but I can't seem to find a picture of a completed kit.

Grabbing the TW version because I can't be bothered with a VPN, anything I should know or is googling a guide enough?

Besides those god damn VicStar 1s had massive payloads of missiles.

Currently making a 91 jump all the way to Sothis since I hear there's good trading and money to be done there. A good idea or should I just to leve and set my home base there?

Move aside faggots, best non-Gundam coming through

Fair point Ever used them in Thrawns Revenge Mod for Empire at War?

Left is the regular HG and coloring, right is the origin remake, both unpainted.

Nice. I still got to slog through the titanium finish Sinanju and the Sazabi ver kas.

Nah. I used to make custom TIE Fighter campaigns and I loved using them.

Why doesn't it have a two pronged hat with bells on the ends?

Also those look much better than regular gundams.

I just finished putting the regular RG one together today, I quite like the RG zaku II design overall.

I was referring to the RG one which is even more pink.

GMs will always look better then filthy Zeon-shit

:^)

it's a bitch

go here:
msol.goone.tw/

register here:
go.goone.tw/?act=game-msol-web2-qRegisterV2

first page also has a link to the client

the first grey fields are for the gmae's site itself

the bottom pink fields are for the game

also apply to NoZaku, it's the guild I set up

Yeah the RG is very pink, wonder why char likes salmon so much?

would char go for a cougar?

You are incorrect user but that is okay.

Good taste bro. Need air support?

...

Dom looks worse then the Zaku

Sure do bro, I already got Artillery covered

This kit has a lot of promise, but you need to spend a lot of time and effort to make it look good since its just an HG.

reminder a /m/an did that animation

Right now in MSGO, at least the JP version, they have the Psycho Zaku and FA Gundam (TB) available for the respective factions, it's a cluster fuck, but not as bad as the O

Now now user.

I should have ordered that kit when I had the chance but my budget could only handle so many kits. I'm considering going back and prettying up my HG's.

Is the TW version behind the JP version? Or are they on divergent paths? I quite liked my psycho zaku.

I've seriously never understood why people like the Dom so much Zaku and Gouf look so much better.

I dunno, the Chink version that was released before the TW version has a similar system but the units released are different (Chinks got doven wolf recently)

right now TW is mainly UC OYW

Dom's turn the shins up to 11, but over all I prefer zakus and doms.

They are all part of the mono-eye family to me though.

This is Zaku abuse, take all those guns off of him right now. He's going to have spinal problems.

He's not even fully loaded, I left a few off.

You haven't watched Gundam Thunderbolt have you user?

ahahahaha

Oh lord that is something. The one clip I've seen also featured those shields accomplishing fuck all too.

I AM CALLING THE POLICE

Series is worth a watch. Certainly better than Reconguista in G and Iron Blooded Orphans.

So, is there like a Holla Forums aproved list of 4x games or what? Everything made after 2000 looks like hot garbage

Man that's fucking great.

Full series never ever

...

...

"You are cleared for automated docking…"

Not counting Janeway Borg Cubes, otherwise any dedicated warship.

TACTICAL FUSION CUBE

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE, YOU WILL BE DESTROYED

You know, I've always just through the whole Yamoto in space thing was just a novel idea…but damn if the Arizona and Ark Royal don't look spiffy as fuck.

Zeon did nothing wrong.

They gassed their own people

...

They gassed Feddie lovers. Nothing of value was lost.

Better to be a tyrant to some than a slave to earthnoids.

Better to be neither.

MUH 10 MILLION AUSTRALIANS

You can't ignore those options. Either be a slave to Earth or be evil.

Nothing of value was lost. Aussie shitposting was a dangerous weapon that needed to be subdued.

Possibly retconned but aren't most starfleet vessels capable of wiping out solar systems by self detonation? They just refuse to do it because reasons.

ANTI-AUSMITIC!!!!

Hol up space man, They tricked the soldiers who gassed the colonies that it was knock out gas then afterward pinned the blame on them.

It needed to be done. The rebellion was subdued.

Never heard this before? I wouldn't even know how to search for this on Memory Beta.

well they use antimatter cores that massively explode on breach. I'd imagine they could manufacture larger ones with exponentially higher yields

Shitty cam but it's all we have for right now.

It was only a few minutes after they declared war on the Feds and the reason they did that was so they could take the colonies as weapons.

Love those, always reminds me of MW.

Why the weird shit and antagonizing their own troops though? Seems like just some weak politicking to hold off war for a few more days.

Old ST shit about detonating their warp cores or some shit.

Spaceship construction gets me hard

I thought you were talking about the uprising against Zeon on side 3. Who gives a shit about feddie lovers from side 1.

I wonder why they're building this one in space, instead of the middle of an Iowan field like its predecessor.

Because Justin Lin realized building something that BIG in gravity was stupid?

They gassed side 3 as well? wew laddie and you call the feds tyrants zeeks would already have won the war if they busy backstabbing each other all the time

It needed to be done so they could end the war as fast as they can. They were going to drop them onto Jaburo and cripple the Feddies and force Earth into giving the colonies independence. Zeon couldn't fight a long drown out war because they didn't have nearly enough resources to go toe to toe with Earth.

*Weren't busy

Yeah because the Feddies never gasses a colony for something as little as a protest or anything

: ^ )

I'll give you the backstabbing part at least, but Zeon should have won, They had everything goingfor them in the beginning.

I'm not too sure how they subdued the rebellion on side 3. I just assumed they used gas.

T-that never happened!

The Titans were a peace keeping core that was separate from the E.F.F and made to combat zeek terrorists from dropping colonies on the earth and using nuclear weapons.

...

SEPARATE FROM THE E.F.F

TITANS DID NOTHING WRONG

Whatever you say Earth cuck.

Oh yeah, whatever you say.

Lets not forget that they are made completely out of hand picked feddy soldiers.

AUTONOMOUS PEACE KEEPING CORE

Can someone vocaroo this shit? I don't know how it sounds.

Yes. Let's create a military organization with handpicked soldiers of a particular mindset and outfit it with state of the art tech and give them a carte blanche to deal with any 'threat.' Furthermore, lets make them separate from the normal military force so they can do their work from behind the scenes without any sort of accountability.

Whoever thinks this is a good idea, in reality or in fiction, needs a swift kick in the balls.

I got that model recently actually, I needed something for my family of zakus to bully.

Also that headset is dorky.

On an unrelated note, I have a Gyan but have never actually seen one in any gundam clips, where the hell did they come from?

not to mention everyone in the titans was essentially a rank or so above their equivalent in the EFF or EFSF

The headset is literally a vulcan gunpod, the Mk II has no built in head vulcans

Do you mean Corps?

No bully that's it's vulcan pod and it looks neat

The Gyan was made by some faggy zeek so he could show how much of a homosexual he was

Yes thank you

actually M"quve didn't design it, Zimmad created it to compete with the Gelgoog

I appreciate the Titan colors

Next thing your gonna tell me is the Federation didn't blow up colonies 80 years before the One Year War.

Also Char ruined everything. Kycillia would have been a great leader.

Gihren would have been the best.

Any of you guys used a HOTAS?
I thought I was doing alright, mapping most functions to the stick, but this guy is really clever so I will definitely use his instead. I can't see anything I'd want to do that isn't mapped.

If I had the money sure. Right I'm I'm stuck using my 360 controller and VoiceAttack

I'm planning on buying a hotas and the thrustmaster x is really on the top of my list. ands this looks perfect

That was pretty fucking awful.

I love HOTAS sticks, I've got an X-52 from before Saitek were bought/sold out.
I used it for Mechwarrior, Descent, Freespace, just about anything that can use a stick. It's nice being able to handle most of your functions without using a keyboard.
Only issue I have with HOTAS is desk space…

Got fucking damn, I forgot how fun this game could be when playing from square one.

What game?

What game?

Distant Worlds: Universe

As far as HOTASs go it's not that expensive. I picked it up for £28 GBP from a local catalogue retailer, which is probably less than $50. It's pretty solid sure, has a decent amount of buttons and I really like it, but it's not one of those super heavy duty ones, I'm no flight autist.
One of my favourite things to do is to attach the bases together (they attach with an allen key which I was surprised to see one is included in a little stylus-like slot under the base) and then I just lean back in my chair with it on my lap and get super comfy. Not possible with a traditional KB&M setup.

That one looks more heavy duty than the Thrustmaster, but also pretty sleek. Desk space isn't an issue when I put it on my lap so I appreciate the attaching feature. Can that one not attach?

noice, I torrented that a while ago and never got around to playing it, probably will today.

Question, does increasing the requirements on that stuff also slow production down? A chief problem I had with games like civilization is that if you set things to take longer, it makes everything across the board take longer.

Production is unaffected as far as I can tell. Certain resources might bottleneck you from time to time, but you can trade for those or pay pirates to smuggle you shit if you run out, and don't mind dealing with pirate scum.

I have, but KBM is generally better (as usual). For sure, the HOTAS does better at making you feel like you're flying a starship. But if you want to wreck people with fixed weapons and beat interdictions, KBM is still king, and I believe it's the control of choice for most of the top pilots (anecdotal mind you).

Not that both TPB and KA are gone and I haven't actually bothered torrenting anything in ages I'm kind of lost for where to go. Lord knows I'm not spending 70 snowsheckels for it.

Sounds good, I remember setting game length to long in civ only to find EVERYTHING was proportionally lengthened so it'd take forever to shit out even a single group of barbarians. I wanted to spend more time in each era and have meaningful battles in them with units of the time.

Thanks lad

There are a bunch of KAT mirrors up last I heard.

Ill put the ISO on mediafire, give me a bit.

Zeon got its revenge for Solomon at least.

Don't expect a link to it for a few hours.

Much appreciated user, and don't worry, I still have to wait 5 hours for MSGO to finish its download.

Have some zaku for your trouble.

FREELANCER ALPHA ONE DASH ONE
I'M SCANNING YOUR CARGO FOR CONTRABAND

I'm not sure what you mean, it comes with attachable suction cups for the bases of the stick and throttle. As for robustness, mine feels very solid, my dad got one years later, after Saitek was bought/sold out, and there was a huge difference in the materials on the inside of the stick. Dad's x52 is lighter and feels almost like you could break it by squeezing it but it worked just fine.

I mean the bases of both parts attach to each other to create one unit with both the throttle and stick on it, pic related. I hold this on my lap when I relax and play.

...

Hey I have one of those too, it's pretty nice.

Adder is a qt

Oh no, it doesn't do that.

Got some interior shots? Everyone says it has a great cockpit.

I'll take some when I get home, it's the only ship I think with cupholders.

Also what the hell do you even do with an Adder?

...

Exploration, fighting and light cargo running.

It's also super comfy.

It's almost as if they tried to give half a fuck, and then fucked up the rest of the movie

Not sure what the complaints about the film are.
It felt more like an episode of the show than the previous reboot films did (a good thing). The villain was a bit weak and could have had more focus and there was the mandatory injection of current year poz with faggot Sulu halfway through but other than that it was pretty solid.

Jew Jew Abrahams

as the years go by, maybe there's truth to the flat earth meme

at least we have space vidya at least,
looking forward to the stellaris expansion coming out soon I hope

So I just managed to get accepted on my college as a genetics student and I was thinking of it.

You know how humans are ingeneering retarded and sci-fi tier advanced on genetic engineering?
I mean we're literally designing DNA strands to make ourselves immune to every single disease in existance, including but not limited to cancer (CRISPR). And even now we're eating food we created specificly to be superior to everything, injecting compounds that in ancient times we had to harvest from animals and now we're simply creating on labs.

And I was thinking, you know how in every Sci-Fi scenario there is always that one bug-like species that has their entire society made of genetically engineered bio-structures; with a fuckton of physical mutations between each member of the same species? It's more than likely that in a long future that species will be us.
I mean, mutating and altering humans into ab-humans that can survive in different environments for galactic colonization is way easier and cheaper than just creating different machines that would let a regular human survive in the same environment.

The future is looking grim bright.

Because Minovsky particles make any advanced sensors and targeting computers useless.

Even without bioengineering humans raised on different planets will be genetically different.

Any child raised on Mars would probably be incapable of walking on Earth as their bones would grow for Martians lower gravity.

the plot of Suisei no Gargantia had that idea as well,
except that the humans with the perfect bodies for space regressed in terms of intellect since they after all don't need technology to survive in space

there is no strive to invent spaceships, mecha, faster computers etc… since you are already a perfect biological entity

enjoy the video

Are there any space games that let me go from controlling a massive ship to a single mobile suit?

Mobile Suits shouldn't be so cute.

Distant Worlds:Universe link for anyone who wants it. mediafire.com/download/a8t93dwxw9qjlmv/sr-distantworldsuniverse.iso

nice, thanks

What is this? Robo-San Fran?

Make way for best ships bitches
bet your shit ships cant even land in water

I wonder how robot will progress through time. I think in 25 years we will have fully sentient robots and neuronic-to-digital preservation.

Why only long-range?

If minowsky particles scramble sensors, wouldn't ALL sensors and communication be affected? On everytihng? Including the gundams?

What a shit plot

The worst trope in mecha shows - the pilot acting like he's getting hit/hurt when his mecha is hit, despite the cockpit being undamaged.

At least EVA and Escaflowne had a direct mental connection between pilot and "thing". Or in Escaflownes case, direct physical connection (damage to mech =damage to your body).

Doing the Emperors work, an0n

...

Because the franchise needs giant robot Samurais dammit.

...

It's like losing your virginity. As if any of us know what that's like

incredibly short lived, embarrassing, and awkward.

And there's that smell. The porno's never mentioned that scent.

Proud owner of a Hotas Warthog, but man the documentation for the special script language bs sucks.
Bonus points for not needing a nightlamp anymore since my desk is now lit in "military green"

This reminds me.

Anyone want to play Boot Windom?

did you lay a cheese smelling hambeast or something?

Thanks again user.

don't forget the giant space mexicans

There was an episode where the Klingons shot at a star making it unstable and explode, wiping out the Cardassian and Dominion forces in that system. Starfleet is on par with Klingon technology, maybe a little bit more advanced so they have the same ability.

Dominion tried to do the same think to the Bajor system but failed.

Weren't they intercepted? I'm surprised this wasn't a tactic more widely used.

I bet your ship can't even land on land without crashing and who knows they might be able to float because aacclamators could

By all accounts he's a better Producer then a Director…kinda like that other guy…the one who did Star Wars!

Large star ships aren't meant to land planetside. they are there for space only.

Temuera is a Maori with Anglo-saxon blood you filthy faggot.

It's been amusing over the years seeing just how many different races and ethnicities people have mistaken him for, as though some people think the only races there are, are whites, blacks and hispanics.

There was way too much action. There's a point where a solid 30 minutes of the movie is just loud music, running and yelling.
Star Trek movie about moral issues and diplomatic talks when?

Always nice to see that. And checked

Actually from what people say about the movie and not what those godawful trailers show it looks like it might actually be good for an attempt to salvage the two last garbage movies. But I couldn't stomach another (((Kelvin))) Trek with their godawful writing and unlikable characters hypocritically shouting their anime-tier morals and that's before we get into Chinese Sulu being a gay. Maybe if someone handed me a DVD I might give it a look but I'm not going out of my way to watch it.

Insurrection and Voyage Home. To a lesser extent, Final Frontier and Undiscovered Country

Voyage Home was the one where they went back in time to save the whales? Because if so, then that's by far the best Star Trek movie I ever watched.
Insurrection was okay, but it had so many glaring plot holes that I couldn't take it seriously. Voyage Home at least started out saying "shit's gonna be ridiculous so buckle up" and delivered on its mission statement.

Its the same reason stuff like star trek has them take a hit, have the shields absorb the hit, but the lights flash and the ship shakes anyway. Its dramatic tension building stuff, but there are better ways of doing it.

I actually ended up liking Voyage Home more than I should even though it's all San Francisco and muh whales. I just included Insurrection just because it had a moral dilemma, not because it made sense or the idea that "fuck technology let's all be Luddite hippies and doom the entire quadrant to die because we're selfish pricks!" should never exist in sci-fi especially for the reasons they gave in that movie

...

...

Part of my annoyance with Insurrection is that it's a similar dilemma to Journey's End, where a small population has to be displaced for the greater good.
Except Picard does literally the exact opposite of what he did then, despite Insurrection's transplant being substantially more justified.
Colony needs to move because the treaty gave the planet to Cardassia? No problem.
Colony needs to move so we can literally cure aging? Time for rebellion.

Difference was that the people who didn't want to leave, just because the Cardassians where taking over where Federation citizens.
Those primitive savages who happened to live on a planet that can cure cancer for the entire Federation are not. Thus its not a matter of "is moving these fuckers justified" but simply yet another reason why the prime directive is some universally fucked up shit.
And it was still so stupid that even the execs where asking why the fuck these dirt farming peasants deserved to stay.

I assume you meant to reply to my post.
In my opinion, ignoring all other problems of the Prime Directive, it should not apply to warp-capable species, which the Son'a/Ba'ku were. But yeah, it's an astonishingly poorly thought out principle.

And the further I look, the more justified the Federation was in trying to move them. Last time I watched the movie I hadn't seen DS9, but now I realize that at the time the UFP was still fighting the Dominion War. So over and above the peacetime benefits of massive regenerative abilities, they've also got to consider that they're taking casualties in extraordinary numbers, up to and including attacks on Earth itself, and they need any advantage they can get simply to ensure their survival.
And then there's the deleted scenes that point out the Son'a are sterile, and thus without the radiation they face certain extinction…

Good old space Mexico.

It's easier to accept that the film version of Captain Picard is straight up evil. I never watched TNG, but the impression of TV Picard I got was that he's some kind of leftist intellectual who collects artifacts and at least gives some of a shit for his crew's wellbeing. Film Picard is a petty, short tempered psychopath who repeatedly sends his crew to their deaths and got one of Starfleet's flagships destroyed (well that was mostly his First Officer's fault, btw that fat fucker also gets his own ship in the EU despite that) and nearly destroys the new one no less than 3 times, one of which was due to him blatantly violating the orders of a superior officer at the scene. Of course, since this is the Starfleet that let Janeway become an Admiral after everything she's done, it's no surprise Picard faced no comeuppance for his antics.

TV picard and movie picard are two different characters entirely. It's bizarre. Also isn't it redundant to acll him leftist when the federation seems to be wholly some sort of leftist future paradise? It's the default setting.

Wasn't Insurrection directed by the same actor of said First Officer?

BTW here's some footage of the TW version of MSGO some Minor UI changes, also the mountable stationary turrets aren't usable it seems

Federation is a total surveillance militarist/fascist society being at war with its neighbors.
Only with leftist rose-tinted glasses it looks like a paradise.

That's why most of the admirals were dicks that wanted to turn Starfleet into a professional military when a majority of its members are a bunch of pajama clad hippies who cry at the possibility of fighting a war against people who want you dead with no exceptions

It is if you're a nigger on Earth where everything is provided for you until you end up somewhere out in space and you have to ask your Jew friend for money without working for it.

Just shut up.

What if the hand is holding a thermal detonator?

Game finally installed and fumbling my way around the moonrunes.

Only 8 characters for your callsign is some bullshit.

What if the hand is holding a hand?

Mobile suits have self detonation devices installed in them

What the hell user.

The pilot list its giving me is tiny, surely there is more than 7 gooks who play this.

thems the breaks

you'll start basically playing with other shitters who jsut started and do bot matches, no way aorund it, ALSO I suggest doing the tutorials because they reward you with items and easy GP

if you need any help message "Ginga" I'll give run downs

Alright, though when I looked up shit on youtube, I saw the tutorial putting you in a zaku.

This one is cramming me into a fed GM despite me clicking on everything zeon related. Is this because of the weird shit with the TW version?

Why live?

the basic tutorial, the first one you do jams you in whatever (for me it put me in an ECOAS Jesta) there are OTHER tutorials that teach you the importance of point capping, base attacks, how to use the commander screen, etc

basically each one is a separate lesson, should take less than 20 minutes to do everything but like I siad you get rewards

Also they're doing a newbie gasha thing ,basically it's all up to 8th MS team OYW suits no real gold BPs, but some good ones to get you going

...

actually that's jsut wing you retard

most suits explode because a critical failure in the auto-scram

user if you don't know anything you should just shut your whore mouth Watch the video and skip to 15:00 and most suits do explode because their reactor was destroyed yes I never said that they don't.

MAX COMFY

you siad they are installed with self detonation devices, which they aren't

typically a massive explosion occurs when the auto scram feature in the minovsky nuclear reactor fails

While technically not a self detonation device, suits reactors CAN be made to go critical

...

So do we have a group or something for ED?

We could register a player group of some kind, don't think we have enough dedicated players though.

Doesn't really live up to the moniker of "most dangerous ship" as it did in previous games. I'd prefer a Python, although the Python glory days were back when Shield Recharge Spam was a thing.

It's more of a "galaxy simulator with spaceships", sort of like if the Ruskie making Space Engine took the old v0.95 release and added Elite ships, guns and an economy to it.

What are you doing.

Same reason the xenomorph was scary in the first Alien film. You can't see black holes, and if they don't spin it's a good job even detecting them, even though they really aren't any worse than super-compressed stars that just happen to warp space-time. Personally I can't stand the damn things though

I landed on a planet not too far from a black hole a while back. You can "hear" it from AU away just looking at it.

Just realized that Enterprise ships have had real bad luck against BOPs.

IIRC from the Enterprise-D tech manual Okuda wrote, Starfleet vessels have two self destruct modes:
A) "Explosive package" self destruct that carefully detonates high-explosives at strategic parts of the ships in series. Scuttles the ship safely; happened to OG Enterprise in the third Star Trek film.

B) Matter/Anti-Matter (M/AM) self destruct via optimal destabilization of the warp core. OG Enterprise threatened to do this to V'Ger in the first Star Trek film, and even that ship's comparatively small power plant (relative to Enterprise-D) was way more than enough to completely destroy V'Ger and it's warship.

I'm up for it. I'm only "well off" but I could stand with something organized to do in there.

well you can claim a station by sending an email with the new factions name to frontier, I'd do some searching first I'm not sure what the exact process is but someone out there has probably listed it.

Most player groups atm are very role-play driven, so it would be important I think to find a role for the group too.

lol what

Or a Steam group or Discord server or something. Some means of finding when and where fellow Holla Forumsirgins are playing.

Well when Powerplay first came out there was a lot of support for the current Emperor at the time. Although now that that situation's played out, maybe having a "Thargoid + Alien Friends Extermination Force" might not be a bad idea given upcoming content.

Basically the INRA from the earlier games but with PCs instead of non-existent NPCs.

How much antimatter do the different classes carry, anyway?

Apparently there's a bug in Freelancer that doesn't allow you to progress the story in mission 9. Time for another game I guess.

mega.nz/#!wUM21RKY
Hey fams who wants to play star ruler?

Well Enterprise-D, which is probably the most documented ship in ST from a technical perspective, uses deuterium and anti-deuterium for it's M/AM reaction (the materials meet and annihilate at the dilithium crystal; plasma is also generated there).

These two atoms producing 100% efficient energy would result in a production of 0.0000006028 joules per annihilation. Doesn't sound like a lot, but keep in mid this is per atom. A compressed stream of all this material is being fed into this chamber all the time. A warp core produces an extremely high amount of power and heat (remember Starfleet ships use plasma for power distribution; think of the heat this reaction generates as well).

In the event of a warp core failure, it's quite conceivable while an uncontrolled M/AM event is possible, it's also quite likely to create a runaway thermal event and turn the containment vessel and the ship with said vessel into slag before all the matter and antimatter interact with each other.

Of course, if self-destruct is enabled and a controlled M/AM detonation is generated intentionally…

I'll make the new space thread when this one hit's page 12
