California is a magnet for homeless because of the weather, and they stay because the Democratic super-majority has warm fuzzy feelings towards homeless. Depends on where you are really. Homelessness isnt just crazy people but I wont say you are wrong about a lot of them being like that. There are a decent amount that are down on their luck when they lose their jobs to outsourcing, women being pieces of shit or other circumstances. There are two problems with homelessness when it comes to that. First off we dont have any "Back on your feet" programs to help those who would just be temp homeless. Second is that we allow these working people to become homeless in the first place. Shelters do jack shit all. There are only a few church programs that I have seen do fuck all. There is one where I live that selects people to have a house and if they work a job they need to pay 50% of it to the group (Sounds fair because most min wage jobbers end up giving that much up for rent and other expense per month.). We dont have anything that helps people self sustain anymore. We just have places that gives life support to the homeless problem.

We wouldn't have such a massive homeless population in LA if we didn't have a massive swarm of illegals.

San Diego has a republican mayor and consistently votes red because we have like 5 military bases in or around the city.

Anaheim city council has just decided to do something about that specific homeless population. They are actually going to get the police to enforce existing anti-camping laws and remove them from that trail.
