The only bright side I can see with SF0 is that if Nintendo want to make a new SF, they either have to make a new game or remake either the original SNES game or SF:Assault with an HD release (with Namco assist). They emptied the SF64 "well" anymore with SF0 and SF64 3D and they won't remaster SF:A due to Rare developing it. Or just fucking make the cancelled Starfox 2 into a proper grahically modern game, now that would have to get some interest.

If they were truly desperate they could've make Fed Force a Starfox game with the team using Arwing like mecha suits/small Landmasters/or an original vehicle. Heck, Starfox Guard was a pretty entertaining title.

I didn't even realize this came out until 2 weeks later. It was never on the new release shelf at Target (where I work) and never got any promotional signing in the video game department. Fan games and passion projects far surpassing the modern industry and comparable to oldies are the only kinds of video games I look forward to now. It's the best way to go in my opinion. I don't care about them taking forever-and-a-half to release. I don't care about most of them never releasing in the first place and myself probably having a library of no more than ten of them. In my mind it's the only way to quietly lay down the fact that the industry as a whole has become total garbage, it can still get worse, and it's probably time to pick up new interests.

If they continue to screw up financially like they did with the WiiU (i.e. it the NX fails), then they may take to distributing their licensed software.

If they are smart, this will mean selling official content: remakes, new games, etc. on other platforms.

Because Zelda and Mario are Nintendo's top franchises it doesn't matter if they do poorly on spin off sales because there's going to be a "mainline" game coming out no matter what. Metroid is a side franchise that hasn't had a game since other m which was met with poor reviews. They're going to look at it and say yeah, we knew this wasn't going to go over well. Nintendo is so fucking out of touch with everything. The NX is gonna flop just like the Wii U did and the industry is going to burn within the next year-and-a-half or so.

We've been saying this for a long time, but all the writing is on the wall, and 2016 has already become one of the worst years for gaming in a while.

It really is sad to see video games get to this point, I honestly don't know how it could recover at this point to where actual enthusiasts have something to care about, instead of the idiotic lowest common denominator. I guess I'll look back on the pre-2007 generation of video games with fond nostalgia, but that's pretty much it.
