There are no more Silent Hill games

Bump, don't have anything to say now but I'll be posting in this thread like in 3 hours

1>2=3>4

Having played a bit of DP, I can easily say Shattered surpasses it in every way, especially in the technical aspects. Plus at least it felt like it respected the series somewhat. DP wanted the franchise branded on it.

Also fuck DP's combat, its so horrible.

This is the objective truth. Anything else is wrong.

3>1>2>4>shattered memories>Implying I played anything else

2>1>4>3.

2 is the most solid in story, atmosphere and puzzles. 1 is close behind. 4 had a very interesting game concept because you were trapped in your apartment and saw your only safe spot in the game gradually turn unsafe, the ghosts were a different kind of horror, causing anxiety and panic instead of a slowly creeping dread. I didn't like 3 as much, since the game felt awfully short and lacking in content when compared to 2.

Daily reminder that Tom Hulett loves SH more than you.

I hope he goes there someday.

...

So much so he made his anime game from high school into Book of Memories.

What is easier to emulate, SH 2 or 3?

Why emulate? PC versions are good.

They're both in the same engine so they're both equally demanding, no difference. SH3 has the better PC version.

2>3>1>4
2 had the best story, atmosphere, and music. 3 slightly less so, though it's personally the scariest to me. 1 and 4 are good, though the mandatory escort and retracking hurt it.

The others are mediocre at best. Origins bored me pretty early on, but otherwise seems okay in comparison. Homecoming is shit, and relies too hard on the movies. SM is an interesting take on the original, but isn't a Silent Hill game (personal favorite otherwise). I wanted to like Downpour, had some interesting concepts here and there, but was ruined by shitty QC and writing. Having the entire game determined by pointless moral choices and multiple endings, some that retroactively remove parts of the story wasn't great, and the only interesting part of the story (being the officer's side of the story) was cut in favor of a simple comic.

BoM doesn't exist.

*The backtracking and escort hurt 4, I mean

I was going to ask a question similiar to that

I'm the guy that created the previous thread, I finished the first game, wanted to continue so downloaded the both versions of the second game. Was wondering which version should I play

I'm new to emulation, actually this is the first game I'm emulating, I fucked around with plugins, options etc. And this was the best result I got. Runs fast without any problem. Also cutscenes are fucked but you can just F9 during them to fix them so not a big problem

For PC version, I installed Modern Compatibility Fix, Widescreen fix and 60 FPS fix. This version too works very smooth and looks much better imo. But I read people saying SH2's PC port was shit and emulation was a better choice, why was that? Are there game breaking bugs or something? If so I'd rather just start the emulation one

Also is main character retarded? Why doesn't he close the door of his car after getting the map? Assuming that is his car

He's got nothing to lose at that point.

3>2=4>1>SM>Origins>Downpour=Homecoming

We don't talk about Book of Memories

Silent Hill is more interesting as a cool concept for a game, than the shitty games. Shame we'll never see an actual good game using the series ideas and aesthetics.

1 Is creepy as fuck because of all it's limitations. Going in blind was really a treat because some of the scares are memorable.
2 is more of a human story, one that fucks you up when the implications start setting in long after you've finished playing.
3 is shorter than 2, reuses some areas, but then blows it out of the park with the sheer atmosphere. It's not implications like in 2, it's implications hidden behind explicit material in plain sight.
4 is……. a thing. Had some good ideas, but can't stack up to the originals.
No other silent hill games exist.

I can see straight away that the PC version is lacking the screen filter(film grain effect) and the lighting on the textures are too bright.

I don't know about this game, but ports in general tend to be worse than the originals in some regards, even if the platform is better. Usually laziness, or outsourced people who are amateurs. The old PC RE4 port is a great example, it uses the (worse) PS2 version of the game as a base, but on top of that, it looks worse since there's no fucking lighting.

2>3>1>4

He just has it turned off, the noise effect is still there, although it does look different than the console noise effect.

3 is the most polished with a grotesque curiosity approach to horrow. It has very annoying enemy design though with enemies having i frames all over the place an tedious shit like pendulums and slurpers
2 is more of a depressing game than a sad one it's mechanics are less refined and aged worse than 3. This however makes it easier to steamroll the game as you just need to knock an enemy down then stamp and it's dead.
1 has aged like milk though it's OST might unnerve you a little. It's combat is basically the same as 2 only with even more stiff awkward controls
4 is garbage a really shit story with obnoxious mechanics and bullshit enemy design. Things like enemies only being killable with a stamp and bullshit hit detection. You wouldn't be the first person to give up on the game after experiencing the subway escalator. The second half of the game is literally the first half only while escorting someone.
Homecoming is hilariously bad, a buggy mess which is laughable in it's execution. I unironically enjoyed Homecoming more than 4. It has a so bad it's good appeal.
The rest I haven't played.

I'm someone who played both PC and PS2 (greatest hits version, apparently it's the definitive console version). Please don't take my statements as anything other than the blurry memories of someone who played these games while intoxicated. But from what I remember, the PC version has way better lighting and shadows, while the emulated PS2 GH version had better fog(?) and sound. This is taking into consideration the CPU 0 fix on PC.

No need to even do that, just go into:
Emulation settings>Gamefixes and turn on 'Switch to GSdx software rendering when an FMV plays'

Additional information; the lighting and shadows in the Greatest Hits version (Restless Dreams) is better than the original PS2 version(I pretty much confirmed this some days ago).

SH3 > SH1 > SH2 >>> SH4

Is homecoming like Deadly Premonition-tier levels of bad?

Look who I just met! Also this woman is cute

That screen filter was the main reason I downloaded PC version. I first emulated on PCSX2 but I really disliked that effect and couldn't find a way to remove it. That brightness was probably because in those emulated pics I had brightness in 2 but in those pc version pics I had forgot to drop it to 2 so it was 3. I set it to 2 on PC version too

Also I have a few questions about first Silent Hill. This thread seems dead but whatever, I'll ask the ones I can remember
-First, where should I go to look for actual information on things I don't understand? I went to its wiki but most of it was speculation

-I can understand solving puzzles but why the hell were there tips for them? Was someone helping Harry? Does someone want him to succeed or whatever? Also there were a few times where doors got "unlocked" without me using any key or anything, are those things related?

-What the hell was Harry's job? From the first moment he never got scared, just carried on and the dude was pretty good with a gun.

-I didn't exactly understand Lisa. Was she ever real? We only met her in those Scarecrow's nightmare like world, and when she turns/dies we find a diary of her so I assume she actually died long ago? I didn't quite understand it. I really didn't understand that other world very well.

-Who was Alessa/Cheryl's father? Do they not have a father and are results of some kind of magical case? Also I didn't understand the ending well, who the hell is that baby Harry and Cybil are raising now? And how is Baphomet related to those people?

You wanna fucking fight, buddy?

Unfortunately you can't turn the filter off until you complete the game once.

Not the wiki, Book of Lost Memories is also an unofficial non-canon source. Watch the "making of" documentaries and try to find interviews with the team published around the time of release, or if you can stomach a lot of faggotry (in terms of presentation) watch TRSHE.

He was a writer.
You don't separate a man and his daughter

When the attempt to birth the cult's god failed, part of Alessa's soul was trapped in her own nightmare being tortured by the god for the next seven years. When Cheryl (the other fragment of Alessa's soul) returned to Silent Hill, that nightmare was physically projected across the entire town both through Alessa's psychic powers and the spiritual energy surrounding Toluca Lake. The term "other world" is sort of a misnomer since Harry initially believes he is being transported to some other world, until the revelation towards the end that the town is truly becoming the nightmare.

Cheryl had no father, I don't think they ever explained who Alessa's father was.
You'll find out in Silent Hill 3, although Cybil doesn't return.
Baphomet/Samael is a deity in their religion. You'll later learn in SH3 that it isn't actually the one who the Christians call Baphomet, but that the puritan settlers of the town renamed a lot of the figures in the local mythology in the 16th century.

What the fuck were they doing?

Yeah, from what he did in same cutscene I assume he also wants to die

How does this work? Did I miss something in the game explaining it?
That's sad

Also what exactly are fog world, other world, nowhere etc? Are they all part of the nightmare you're talking about? I learned about them while looking through wiki and they all had different pages so I assume they're different?

Silent Hill games all take place in the town called Silent Hill, right? This should be cool if I can find references to older games, places being the same etc. Though so far I couldn't find SH1's place in this map

Every thread until its accepted fact.

2>3>1>4
Shattered Memories is the only good outsourced game, everything else is complete dogshit.

Maaaagic
The scenes in Nowhere with Dahlia and the other cult members strongly imply it, but I don't think it's outright stated until SH3.

Yeah, she's probably my second favorite character in the series after James, it was a shame.

Just the town covered by the mist of Toluca Lake, which is strongly implied to be the source of the town's spiritual energy.
The town covered by the projection of the nightmare, at least in SH1. In SH2 that spiritual energy has been forever corrupted by the events of SH1, which is why regular non-psychic people like James and Angela can manifest things also.
In Nowhere you are actually inside of Alessa's nightmare, which is why the geometry makes no sense.

SH1 and SH2 do, SH3 and SH4 start in other places.
SH1 takes place north of the lake, SH2 takes place south of the lake

Who else would fuck the nurses

Why would you post this filth

I don't really know anything about Deadly Premonition so I can't say.

What I can say however is after replaying 1-3 recently their gameplay is pretty bad.

Silent Hill 2 is extremely overrated.

By bad you mean your completely average person isn't a complete badass? You aren't meant to wade through the enemies. Combat isn't even encouraged in the originals and this was done on purpose.

Which SH monster would you fuck?

You are a complete tool.

First of all "overrated" isn't a legitimate criticism. But more to the point the absurd idea that survival horror games have shit combat because muh immersion is fallacious. That was just how they played and devs failed to innovate.

Also, there is more to gameplay than the combat cretin and running around corridors searching for the one door which can be opened to get a key for another door is not quality gameplay.

Team Silent very deliberately styled the games after classic survival horror in the twilight years of the genre when everyone else was transitioning into action horror, while also refining the mechanics in a lot of different ways. Saying the games are the way they are because "that was just how they played and devs failed to innovate" is ridiculous.

There's more to the gameplay than running around corridors searching for key items.

Nah, Homecoming isn't that bad. Downpour is definitely worse.

It's hard to pick favorites with such variety, but if I had to be honest, this.

First of all, that they have "shit combat" is entirely your retarded opinion. The combat is designed perfectly to hamper the player and create tension. Not so you can be a badass wading through enemies and making a joke of the whole situation like every resident evil barring the REmake, and especially like every Resident Evil from 4 onward.

Silent Hill games are supposed to be scary. They are not supposed to be gleefully running around gunning down enemies and executing sick maneuvers.

As for SH2 being overrated, it quite simply is. It has a psychological twist that armchair psychologists think is deep. The story is paper thin and it muddied up the already established canon. SH1 and SH3 are clearly superior to SH2. The only reason to disagree is because of that faux "depth" you retards are so focused on.

So what happened with them giving you a chainsaw in SH2 and a katana and a submachine gun in SH3?

There's also no reason to be this embarrassed that you didn't understand SH2
If you think it muddles up the canon you clearly did not

You're right that the combat is designed the way it is intentionally to make the game scary. However the other user is also right that they should have innovated and found a way to make the combat satisfying but still make the game scary. Like by instead of the goal of combat to be to kill a monster it is to get away from a monster.

You can also get a lightsaber in 3, I guess they have a shitty force power system since they didn't implement one by your logic.

Heather in 3 isn't good with any of the weapons really. She is clumsy on purpose. As were all the main characters of the original trilogy. This was by design. It wasn't a necessity because of any limitation you want to pretend existed. It was designed that way because that is the type of game it is supposed to be.

Go play a shooter if you want to be rambo, faggot.

If 2 isn't your favorite I get that I'm more of an SH3 guy myself, I don't really see how it messes with the canon though.

There's similarly no reason to be so upset that you confuse who you're even disagreeing with, I really hope you calm down soon.

She is not clumsy, and she is definitely not intentionally clumsy, there is nothing wrong with the controls. The idea that survival horror games have clunky gameplay to make you feel less empowered is simply something put forward by people who don't like survival horror games but think they do.

I don't even think it's deep, but based on your comment you clearly weren't paying attention or didn't understand it.

The otherworld and the town's effects were tied directly to Alessa and the cult. Having the town practically its own entity that calls twisted people to it completely changed that.

I guess SH3 "muddles" with the canon too by expounding on the creation myth of the cult, and that the cult pre-dates European settlement in North America, since the creators of the canon adding new information to the canon is "muddling".

No that specific otherworld is tied to Alessa the town has it's own spiritual power. Which also was corrupted by Alessa and the cult's god. So SH2 just takes place sometime after the events of SH1 doesn't really screw with anything.

Implying that I am upset isn't going to help your argument.

Look how retarded you are. She is intentionally clumsy when firing or using any of the available weapons. Try using different ones and notice how she handles them. If you think that's like someone who is trained or good at combat then you are simply retarded. This was intentional, same for how often Harry missed with guns in the first game. It was intentionally coded in because they are not trained professionals and are never meant to handle like them. They tire when they run, they don't run especially fast, they don't turn on a dime, they don't backstep quickly. They are clumsy average people when it comes to combat.

You don't know this and yet you think you can lecture me on not "getting" SH2's story?

Nothing SH3 added conflicts with the original. SH2's addition conflicts with it by completely leaving out the only reasons established for any of it occurring.

There was no "specific otherworld". You are taking ridiculous retcons and pretending they don't muddy up the original mythos when they directly change it.

SH2 fanboys, is objectivity possible with you?

I wasn't implying it.

She can beat monstrosities to death and there's hardly any feedback to imply that she's "clumsy" other than what you're intentionally ascribing to the game. And, again, I never claimed that she was supposed to be trained or good at combat, you on the other hand are moving in the opposite end of the spectrum by trying to say that she is supposed to be "clumsy" and "average".

I think that's a statement on how often you missed with guns in the first game, I have literally never had this problem.

Press R1+L1

I will say for the third time, you weren't paying attention or you didn't understand it.

Also how fucking upset do you have to be to call someone who explicitly said that SH3 was his favorite a SH2 fanboy, holy shit

I think you're confusing "fucking with the canon" with "expanding on the story in a way you don't like". If you don't like SH2 at all just because it is most people's favorite is fine. it doesn't mean you have to go all inverse-Huellet and say everything that isn't 2 is amazing and everything about 2 is terrible.

SH2 > SH1 = SH3 > SH4

Outsourced: Only played Origins, which was okay. The rest will never played, and fuck Tom Hulett.

Yes you were, and directly claiming it. The two are not mutually exclusive. You are wrong in either case.

How can you be this retarded?

She is. Get the fuck over it. Did you think she was like all the other generic video game characters that are all decent or good regardless of what type of character they are? SH1-3 treated the main characters realistically in their abilities. A 17 year old girl isn't going to run around swinging a heavy weapon like a pro nor is she going to shoot like one, and she doesn't in that fucking game. This was intentional. As was sticking to the tank controls, having slow movement, having to turn your light off unless you want to alert monsters, etc. etc. Your combat is effectively hampered on purpose, this isn't "shit combat", this is good cohesive and planned game design.

Uh, huh, sure. I'm sure you being as retarded as you are just didn't notice the shots that didn't actually do any damage, either that or you fire at point blank range. Regardless this is a silly counter argument for you to make. You get BTFO on every other point, but this one you can claim you magically got perfect shots off all the time or that my aim must just be shit. I'm impressed you didn't break out >git gud on me, that would have destroyed my argument :^)

I wonder what next you will nitpick while utterly failing to prove any point what so ever.

You can keep repeating it. I don't mind you being wrong more.

Wow, that totally proves me wrong user. That totally undoes the retconning of the otherworld or its connection specifically to the cult and Alessa. I mean it has the mark of samael! That completely ties up all the loose knots and smoothes over the blatant retcons. Thanks for pointing my to the true path, user.

KYS

Yeah, you aren't a fanboy. Guess I was mistaken.

I think I already answered that shit excuse. Expanding on the story is fine, retconning to "expand on the story" is not and is in fact muddying up the original canon.

Here! Right here is the crux of any "X is overrated" argument shitfest. Fanboys automatically assuming user hates X because they said it was overrated.

Silent Hill 2 is a good game. Being overrated doesn't mean it is bad. It is overrated AMONG good games.

I wasn't, I was just saying it, you are upset.
Level-headed, calm people don't make posts this long.

She isn't, maybe you're just not very good at these games.

Is it not a little sad having to toot your own horn? "Oh man I totally blew you the fuck out right there"

It does, though, background details about the cult and imagery from Alessa's nightmare are all over the place, that's just one example.
No problem.

Phew boy, wait a little bit before you backpedal.

SH: 9/10
SH2: 10/10
SH3: 9.5/10
SH4: 8.5/10

Shattered Memories: 6/10
Origins: 6/10
Homecoming: 5.5/10
Downpour: 7/10

Clearly a man of fine taste.

Are you getting it yet? This is just one example of your retarded pedantry.

What? Too cowardly to put >git gud? Any other weak non-arguments to throw at me?

It isn't tooting my own horn, it is a statement of fact. I don't rely on getting anyone else to acknowledge this since SH2 is the favorite of nearly every SH "fan" thanks entirely to it being memed as such. "Whoa, but it like has this great twist at the end, and its deep and you just don't get it, you didn't understand, but I'm not like a fanboy or anything."

Regardless the fact stands whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

No it doesn't. It doesn't change the retconning and it doesn't even explain how the cult is involved or why the otherworld would manifest for complete unimportant strangers. That wasn't how it worked in the original. SH2 retcons this and you go "yup, it works because the retcon says it does" which is just side stepping the entire point. As for this mark of samael being seen it would be like you saying that any inconsistencies in TFA compared to the original Trilogy are okay because there are X-Wings seen in some parts of the movie. In other words a complete shit argument.

You are such a faggot.

I can't rank them because I've only played 2. Please no bully.
I find it interesting that so many here think highly of 3, I seem to remember passing on it when it was first released because most fans of the first two seemed disappointed in it, but I might not have been paying close enough attention. Or maybe they were all faggots.

What's the best version of 3?

No, back in the day most SH2 newfags didn't like how it wasn't like SH2, so they hated SH3 which was directly connected to SH1 with no relation to 2 outside of some revisited areas.

This is how SH2 being "the best" got started.

Reading sure is hard when you're upset.

Have I not made it clear at this point that I think you are just bad at these games and need to get good? I'm almost certain I've said it a few times now.

It explains both as long as you understand it, which is apparently something I'm incapable of helping you with, maybe a special teacher is needed for that job. Of course, when SH3 expands on the background of the cult and how the nightmare manifests it's just innocently adding to the original canon, but when SH2 does the same it's muh retcons.

The story is paper thin, the only merit of the game is its twist, it muddles up the canon, people only like it because they think it's deep, but oh it's still a good game? You like the game, but anyone who disagrees with you about it is a retarded fanboy who is incapable of objectivity? You are retreating behind this "b-but it's still good, you just like it too much" I guess because you realize things aren't exactly going your way, and I'm honestly surprised you have enough self-awareness to start backpedaling instead of doubling down like the frothing-at-the-mouth retard you are.

Ask Team Silent what they think the best game is and they'll tell you SH2.
Ask Yamaoka the best soundtrack he ever did and he'll tell you SH2.
Ask their technical team which game they're most proud of and they'll tell you the one they made a whole new engine for, SH2.
Ask Owaku which game had the best writing and he'll tell you SH2.
Ask Ito which game had his favorite monster designs and he'll tell you SH2.

It feels good to be on top

The PC version isn't capped at 30fps if you care about that kind of thing

Just because they made the engine for SH2 doesn't mean it was best implemented in SH2. The CG cutsenes are jarring and frankly ugly. They also play randomly, sometimes in the middle of in-engine cutscenes, like Eddie in the prison. SH3 thankfully stopped that bullshit.
SH2 had like 5 enemy types. They look cool and do cool things, but putting nurses in the street is grasping at straws. They ran out of shit to put there. Interesting that 2 was the only one without dogs. Not many other enemy types can act as a remote threat when you're sprinting down roads the size of Wrigley Field, the dogs were one of the few things nipping at your ankles and trying to sabotage you on sharp corners.
Yamaoka has no opinion on Silent Hill, he writes amazing music for the games, but he knows jack shit about them. Even in his production role he had no idea what the fuck was going on.
It's weak to affirm your own opinions by stating the devs favorite is your favorite. Like a typical SH2 fan hoping to be spoonfed the right opinion by the gatekeepers of the Silent Hill lore.

It "stopped" nothing, Sato left the team.

Probably why their visual designer likes them best.

If the argument is, quote, "This is how SH2 being 'the best' got started", and multiple members of the team across multiple interviews have said they think that SH2 is the best, there's nothing weak about it.

2=3=1>4>0rigins=Shattered Memories>needles being inserted into my eyes>Homecoming=Downpour>Book of Memories

Thing is though the Silent Hill games were infinitely better combat wise combat to the RE games. You couldn't even move while aiming or knifing in the older REs. Hell the puzzles werent even as good in the RE games.

Saying the combat is supposed to be bad doesn't make any sense. Unless you're one of those people that agreed with Tomm Hulett that the combat needed to be intentionally shit and borderline unplayable.

My opinion is that Silent Hill's combat was fine and doesn't need to "evolve" to some completely different system. I deny the idea that there is anything wrong with the combat. It is as it was designed to be, and it works that way.

I don't give a shit which one they prefer. I guarantee you they wouldn't have said that shit when SH3 was just coming out, nor would it make sense for them to at the time think "this is inferior to our previous game" unless they sought to do so, which they obviously didn't since the quality of 3 is indeed higher than 2.

The only reason they give lip service to SH2 being the best is because it already had become the favorite and was memed to be a masterpiece.

SH2 is the pleb response for "best Silent Hill". The majority of the people claiming it is the best don't even know why, they are just parroting the meme that it is the best.

Besides it being intentionally clumsy, obviously.

The interview I was thinking about was after the release of SH4, if you want me to find it. I feel a little better about my argument now that the response is "they can't think that this game is better, because I think this game is better".

Do I get to say that SH1 is the hipster response for "best Silent Hill"?
Guess you have something in common with them then

Yep, here, halfway down. I can find more if when that doesn't satisfy you.
archive.is/DgSe

How is SH's combat "intentionally clunky"? Maybe because of the 3D tank controls, but one thing to remember is SH1 came out around the time of the PS1, and even SH2 came out early on in the PS2 generation where developers were still getting used to 3D and camera controls.

Unless you're talking about the later SH games which took the traditional survival horror combat which some people had a problem with to a terrible system in Downpour that everyone has a problem with.

I'm not the one saying it is

Sorry, lost track of the comment chain and who said what.

Their faces remind me of what I imagined a 9 would look like if it came to life
I want to fuck one too still.

And a bonus, the scenario co-writer for SH1 explaining that SH2 gave him an opportunity to explain a lot of the plot holes he left in the first game.
archive.is/sqcad

Was checking through screenshots I took when I found this, is it written "James Sunderland" on that grave? You learn the name of the protag pretty late so I didn't notice it before. I went there in emulated version because I had a save state pretty close to there. Is it "James, Silent Hill"? I guess it's just unrelated some grave
Also Eddie is the most disgusting thing in the game so far

AFAIK for 3 PC is the definitive choice there. When I finish SH2 I can download both of them and show you the difference if you want

How did you access that map in the game or is it fan made? I swear it wouldn't let me see the northern map. Just checked it now and when I press up it just shows the southern part for some reason

Yeah it's fan made

That's not necessary, everyone seems to agree. I mostly just wanted to make sure SH3 wasn't one of those abomination ports before I gave it a shot.
Thanks for the offer, though.

Continuing playing now, just got Maria. Frustrating thing is she's slower than me so every now and then I have to stop and wait for her, I hate when developers make other NPCs different speed than PC, it's doesn't serve any purpose, it's just fucking annoying

Kind of related. I was looking through Homecoming's page in Silent Hill wiki to see what was so bad about game. It seems mostly technical issues but whatever, that's not the thing. After that I was reading through its trivia section and saw that if you shine light on nurses, you can see a fetus in their womb. I don't know if is this related to the something in the game or not but looked interesting to me.

What part of "I don't care about their opinion" didn't you get? Also, your "fixing plotholes" claim is a load of bullshit not in that article.

Reading is hard, I understand.

...

Maybe you'll find some time of the day where you can have the last word and I won't bully you, but this is not that time of day.

The SH2 novel is fucking depressing

You don't have to wait for Maria. She'll follow you through doors no matter how far away she is, unlike SH4.

There's also really no pretense that you have to make an effort to protect Maria and keep her alive, unlike SH4, the monsters are too lethargic to do any real damage.

...

Yeah…too bad the town is more interesting than Alessa or the cult.

that's good.
post link.

Does anyone know if they ever released a physical full map of Silent Hill like that? I'd love to have one framed on my wall.

Nothing official as far as I'm aware, no. That picture has a pretty decent resolution though, it wouldn't be too much trouble to take it to a print shop.

This nigger here knows what's up.
Everything past The Room isn't even worth rating.

Funny you guys would say that, because yesterday I stopped playing when we were running away from Pyramid head and Maria got killed and I got a game over. Will try today again, with more protecting her this time though I have no idea how

Also I have a few questions like why James couldn't open a fucking refrigerator alone but they could open it together with Maria, etc but I assume these things will be answered in the game so I'll hold on to them for a while

Should I stop bumping?

user She dies no matter what in the elevator scene, you can't save her there, it's a metaphorical moment to mirror the actual time where his wife died of some illness which was made worse by his disgust for and negligence of her.

I just finished the game

That wasn't what I was talking about. She can die before you reach elevator and if that happens you get a game over. Pissed me off when I learned that she dies anyway when you reach the elevator to be honest.

This game felt completely different than the first game, like except for the name there was no relation at all. Did I miss something about cults and shit?

Also was right about the sounds, weapon sounds and a few other sounds were bugged for me, I assume because of 60 fps patch but not sure. Except for boss fights, I never used ranged weapons anyway so it wasn't a problem for me.

I have lots of questions but I'll search them on the internet first before flooding here, but I do have an important one. Before even James remembered what he did, everyone accused him of being a murderer. Like we find clues about other people, in newspapers etc, do they find shit like that about us? I'm also pretty sure when you first met them they don't remember what they did and remember it as the game goes, like James

I wanted to say yes to her, I really did. Not going to lie, after this scene I alt tabbed and looked for a way to be with her and see if I screwed something up. Whatever, James is with Mary now

Also should I play that extra scenario? I learned that it was about Maria and I hate Maria honestly, I'd rather go straight to SH3 if there isn't anything important

Supposedly. Just as likely that Laura told them. Eddie and Angela don't have amnesia either, they're just in denial.

It honestly doesn't add a whole lot, play it if you have an hour spare and want a little more. May as well go to SH3 if you're eager to.

SH2 looks better than many Ps3 games, is there anywhere where I can read up on the SH2-3-4 engine?

Silent Hill sux

I like Heather

I also have shitload of questions about SH2, I'll ask them after a while, sh wikia doesn't really help much. Also I was disappointed that there weren't bloopers for SH2 but I can understand why, after the sad ending that would be too absurd. Still I liked SH1's

They went with joke endings instead

SH2>SH3>SH1>SH4>Origins>Shattered Memories>Homecoming>Downpour>Arcade/Mobile Games>>HD Collection>>>>Book of Memories

I watched Silent Hill 2's extra scenario's lets play yesterday, didn't feel like playing it and apparently it was very short anyway. But there I saw that you play as Maria and she doesn't even know James at the start. I thought Maria wasn't real and something like James' tulpa or manifestation or something, but that can't be true since she doesn't even know James.
Also apparently there's a Maria ending where she comes with you. And this is one of the endings that you can get in the first try so not a non-canon/joke ending like UFOs or anything so she has to be real. But she dies like 3 fucking times in main game, how does this work exactly? There's a Maria, who's real person, James meets her and because she reminds her too much of her wife she starts seeing her die? Should I assume that she was born as a tulpa or something like that, but because of magical powers of Silent Hill she became real somehow? To get the ending she's with you you pretty much have to obsess over her, does James' emotions or whatever make her real or something? Wouldn't surprise me in Silent Hill
There's also that Ernest guy who I didn't understand about but I don't care about him honestly. That extra scenario wasn't good imo and if that guy isn't important in main game in anyway I don't care about him

I can understand people in Silent Hill seeing things based on their crimes, etc etc because of fucking up town in SH1 or whatever, but why does that place call people now? Neither Angela, James or Eddie and assume Laura were from there but something "called" them. Why is that?

I also have like more than ten more questions but I know if I wrote a wall of text you guys won't read it and the thread's already as dead as it is, I'll ask them later if it's still alive

Yeah, I saw this while looking through Silent Hill's wikia. They say the game is shit but I liked this joke ending honestly, even Mary is in it. It starts in like 1:19 of the video

fine taste.
why did you rate Homecoming higher than Downpour though.

Maria was never a tulpa, the Town creates her to torture James but she's real through all of it.
