As a kid the animation creeped me out. Everyone I knew thought all the characters were annoying and awkward stereotypes, but the show had an alarming magnetism for some reason. There was something snarky and unwholesome about it that made it seem like forbidden fruit, like your parents didn't really like it but were never able to articulate why exactly.
