COTM best

Been playing lords of shadows because ive played through the rest.
The first los is mediocre at the beginning, but it gets good after carmillas castle. Mirror of fate is meh…
My favourite 3d castlevania is still legacy of darkness, followed by pandora's tower. I know it's not legit but it's only missing the name. Also fuck lament of innocence

From the 2d, i have a bonerang for supes 4, followed by rondo, order of ecclesia, chronicles and CotM.

Also aria is better than symphony

Film noir castlevania feels better than usual

Except the ps2 era and mercury steam shit I liked all the rest of the games. As much as I love rondo and the first one, I'd hardly call myself a classicfag. Iga's games major failing was the lack of difficulty, which OoE solved succesfully on exchange of map complexity, a shame because if they had actual level design for that game instead of empty corridors it would have been GOAT.

Stella a best.

Classicfag here, I like the sensation of finally mastering a stage after so many failures, plus finding secrets without going too far out of the way and nailing enemies despite your limited means of offense. Can't understate my disappointment when Bloodstained turned out to be a Metroidvania (not that I dislike the genre, I just think it's oversaturated).

Why

Certainly had the best non-Dracula primary antagonist.

Yup, CotM is better than anything IGA ever shat out.

Also, best grill- Shanoa.
Because she can actually turn herself into a succubus, and you don't need fanart/fanfiction to imagine it!

Would Castlevania III have been better if it had been a proto-metroidvania like Simon's Quest? What about if it had been a more linear game like the first Castlevania?

Mostly classicfag since I love the general non-serious horror movie vibe of the old Classicvanias that started to fuck off with Rondo. Metroidvanias are fun but all but one of them takes the focus entirely away from the Belmont as the player-character to focus on OCs and even Juste was pretty faggoty and starred in a bad game.

Favorite classicvania's a tie between CV3 and Rondo, favorite metroidvania's Aria of Sorrow or SOTN while playing as Richter. Julius kinda stunk in his playable appearances (which is a fucking shame because he's hands-down my favorite Belmont) but I attribute that mainly to how subweapons were handled for Belmonts in the metroidvanias past SOTN, Grand Cross being a fucking subweapon of its own instead of being an item crash (and item crashes in general being neutered out) takes away a shit-ton of what makes Belmonts unique compared to the metroidvania OCs in terms of playability, and if it's like SOTN or Portrait of Ruin where the OC also has access to subweapons then item crashes give you a reason to play as the NG+ Belmont over the OC.

Classicfag, I haven't even played a Metroidvania, oddly enough. Which one should I play? Symphony of the Night seems to be everyone's favourite.

Castlevania 3 was fine as it is. If it didn't have branching paths, then it wouldn't have had as much replayability. If it followed 2's formula, then it would've been a mess.

Anymore like this? You should post this in the nes thread before it dies.

Because its fricking horrible, the most memorable scene is pg 13 and it lasts like 2 hours. Legacy of darkness is better. Hell, even curse of darkness is a meatier game even if is IGA shit. Also adventure rebirth anyone? Really?

And a catgrill

I would lick Carmilla's perfect legs like the little bitch i am

I like pretty much every type. My overall favorite, and just favorite game in general is Symphony of the Night. Its weird, it's the only PS game I actually liked too.

It's a severely flawed game but it's so close to my heart. The music is astounding, the atmosphere is amazing, I love that it has all these enemies from Rondo, the gameplay is fluid and exploring the castle just feels amazing. I'll never forget the first time I came to the giant stairs and that absolutely haunting but beautiful music comes in. It just kicks so much ass. Everything about the kind of atmosphere i like in a game is here. Its biggest flaw is that it's just too easy.

All that said though, the best Castlevania from a design and gameplay overview is, imo, a tie between Castlevania 4 and Dracula X. And no, I don't mean Rondo. Unpopular opinion here, but I found X's challenge and scaling to be much much more satisfying than Rondo. Dracula is a pushover in Rondo, but he's among the hardest iterations in X, especially if you don't use the axes in which case he's the hardest.

Honorable mentions Castlevania 3. Hardest game ever made that isn't unfair in its difficulty.

Best girl comin through.
Why is there no good porn of her?

You saying you didn't like Rebirth? Cause I thought it was good.

I've been on a IGAvania binge lately, so far my opinion is

AoS > CotM > SotN > DoS > HoD

Just started PoR, and I can indeed conclude that Charlotte is best girl. Shanoa has to wait.
