This is partially accurate, however americans do keep in the same area generally. From my area, i'd say 80/90% of people i went to high school with stayed in the same state, same town. It's why we have regional accents. People like to stay close to their mother/father/ family as they grow up. I beleive that the US should either balkanize or return to its original format of a bunch of mini-countries wih a small federal government pretty much solely consisting of a national army, and the states can be redrawn based off of ethnicity and historical events, after kicking out all nonwhites of course.
Then newer ethnicities can be formed put of older european ones, i.e southerners that are mostly french and anglo with a tad of irish or midwesterners who are largely germanic will mix over time with these regions, and make permanent movement between these regions difficult (limit of like 5,000 a year imigrants or something)

Look where that name is or was the most active/existing in Europe and you'll be able to find a general area of where your family comes from. If you can't find anything, it's possible your last name has changed in the US due to immigration, so look up last names that are similar to yours or have different typo, like for example smith might be german schmidt and so on. Also, looks. If the looks of people from years ago through photographs or portraits have the same name and they look similar to you or someone in your family, you can be near sure that's someone from your family line and check out his past and where he comes from. While researching my last name, i accidently came across a portrait of some dude from 200 years ago with my last name and he looks exactly like my brother.

With all the older records being digitized and transcribed and with upcoming OCR software, even cursive will be transcribed and then connected to an ever growing database. Insurance companies will eventually know what your grandparents died of and your families socioeconomic history, along with your racial admixtures without a dna test. Your family tree will be connected to your health records, financial records, telephone records, criminal records, along with your academic records, etc….

Burger here, this thread brings up a lot of interesting points that I have been contemplating. My family has traced a great deal of my ancestry, well into Europe. We have been here for hundreds of years. My patrilineal grandfather fought in the Revolution. My people made the active decision to politically separate from the Old World powers. We actually do have an identity, it's called being American, with emphasis on what State you're from. Different states and regions have different laws, cultures, and dialects.

Unfortunately, all kinds of immigration has distorted the American identity. Not just the brown immigration since 1965, but also European immigration outside of the Colonial stock.

What is Colonial stock? In order of cultural and genetic importance:
(1) English, (2) Scottish, (3) German, (4) Dutch, (5) Irish, (6) French

The vast majority of colonial stock (17th Century or earlier) is Anglo, including the Scots and Irish, America is a British creation. Had we not fought a war for independence, we'd likely be in the Commonwealth, maintaining strong political and cultural ties with Britain.

Over time, each of these ethnic groups established itself very well in America and, for the most part, adopted the view that they were American. Affinity toward country of origin is inversely correspondent to time since arrival in America.

In my view, if the vast majority of your family wasn't here by the Revolution, your case for being American is slim. If you at least come from one or some of the ethnic stocks from which America originated, and your family has been here long enough to shed its affinity toward the old nation, and solely identifies as American, then you can become accepted into the fold. In other words, the Krauts and Irish that flooded the country in the 19th Century can become honorary Americans, despite not sharing our history in total.

Now let's turn to first pic related. When we examine the core stock on a map we find a major point of commonality: possess a coastline on the North Sea. At this point, an analysis of this region should be conducted in terms of genetics and culture. What we find in terms of Y-Haplogroup (patrilineal genetics) is that there is a large R1b base population, with a I1 sub-population that provides the cultural foundation. This is where I am not quite certain about the populations of origin. Nonetheless, I1 seems to be the Nordic gene, which is the root for the Germanic cultures, including German and Anglo. Nords (Vikings) were notorious conquerors, and conquered Britain a number of times from a number of areas around the North Sea: Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans, etc. What I find interesting is despite the apparently relatively low levels of Nordic (I1) haplogroups, their (Nordic/Germanic) cultures came to dominate the R1b populations which were, as far as I can tell, culturally (and genetically?) Celtic. Somehow this blend of R1b/I1 populations seems to have a high capacity for power and conquering, both militarily and culturally. The English culture (in great part due to its American proxy) has come to predominate on the global level, as evidenced by the foreign populations speaking English as a first/second language.

Broadly speaking, while the national cultures and languages have diverged, I think the North Sea nations are more or less one people. They are highly individualistic, tend to not allow great inequality in their own populations (less tolerant of tyrants) (third pic related). This is a pretty rare set of traits as far as I can tell. It seems that those who became American were selected for traits like high individualism, which plays into our authentic culture (which has not been made manifest since the 1950s), which is self-reliance and equal opportunity (for authentic Americans). North Sea people are also the major creators of the world, as evidenced by the fourth pic related.

Authentic Americans from the beginning are those of what we might call "North Sea stock". In other words, we are largely Nordic/Germanic, with some Celtic influences. There is at least one burger who recognizes differences between and among Eurofags. I see them in the differences between what I have here called authentic Americans, and the newcomers… like Italians, Slavs, and Greeks. They are fine people with great cultures, but they are not my people as such. There is a caveat, however, which is that Germanics tend to rule wherever they go. North Italy, for example, is largely Germanic. I imagine I would fit in much better with Northern Italians than Southern. Just as I would fit in with Germanic Spaniards over those tainted with mudslime saracen blood.

Unfortunately, immigration kiked America and it fucked up the identity my people have spent hundreds of years cultivating. A new European ethnic group we were creating, and we can still do it. We are still part of the North Sea tribe(s). These groups which have been migrating around, invading, and conquering each other for millennia.

One last comment and I will end my blogpost. Could it be that North Sea people are the carriers of civilization and empires? America and Britain were clearly related; who were the early Romans? Northern Indians (Aryans) are R1a, did the real Aryans (creators of the Vedic/Hindu religion) eventually abandon India and settle Iran (Aryan), the Mediterranean, and finally Europe? Not sure. Either way, the more I research it, the more I think we North Sea nations (including USA) need to stick together on the global political scale, without infringing upon national sovereignty. North Sea Confederation when?
