Find and Replace (sed/tr/awk) is your friend
Uploaders: 1. When in doubt, upload. Ask questions later. 2. Upload to many alternative sources (5+) and keep a local copy if space permits. 3. Use a URL shorterner (spaced or split) and/or paste relinks (zerobin.net/) on file links to confuse bots 4. Encrypt your uploads now with a password, key, or generator. Rename the files something random, even their checksums.Maybe even pad files to the nearest GB or so, to confuse bots. 5. If you have a stable computer connection, it is extremely advisable to self host the file, using anonymity tools like Freenet, I2P, Gnunet, distributed NNTP or MixMinion/Mixmaster.
Volafile edition: 1. Before you upload a batch of miscellaneous files, like images and music, be sure they are unique enough to stand on their own, and that you ask for the majority's the consensus whether to upload the files individually. 2. Vola room owner edit- Upload 5 files and then zip the rest if the dump is larger then 6-7 files. Music Albums exceeding 5 files are to be zipped. When uploading a raw torrent which includes skidrow, codex, etc files either add them to the a zip of the game or just don’t upload those misc files. Properly label files so that they can be identified without asking someone else. For lewd stuff with filenames like RJ74765 either add a .txt file linking to the contents on a website or just add the title to the file "BIG BOOTY WOMEN SIT ON SHOTA FACE (RJ34734)" 3. You can filter files by file type (.txt, .rar, etc) or search the file list with the bar hidden by the filter files button. a. When in doubt, archive as a single [or split file if too large], then upload.

Yesterday morning I woke up and sat down to a threat. I saw something about and it made me remember: I used MEGA Sync to speed up the process of uploading everything. My IP was logged in the 'recent activity' in MEGA opposed to a proxy when I uploaded from my browser. It may have been just panic but I decided to delete the things I uploaded.

I just checked IGG-games and the mega account IGG-games uses was taken out. However the other dozen links to use are still possible. user who wants Wizardry 8 is clearly an idiot for not trying all of them since sities taking out accounts and links for sites like IGG-games is to be expected. As a side note as a rough esitmate how long I can assume that ipfs repo stat –human will take, given that the max datastore size is set to 10GiB? In addition is there another way (that is in the –help) to list what is in the local store? Hopefully ipfs ls $peer_id will do what I want before the sun explodes.

Currently all repo operations like that usually take a long time if the repo is large, I remember seeing them discussing it on github, there was talk of improving performance. I forget if it had to do with some caching layer they're going to implement or if they're going to modify how stats specifically are kept/accessed.
Until the performance improvements it's probably better to use your OS to check the size of the .ipfs directory.
Also remember that 10GiB limit (or whatever you set in your config file) is only respected if you start the daemon with the `–enable-gc` flag. ipfs daemon --enable-gc gc's are a repo operation, I typically do mine manually. There's also a new option, you can do ipfs block rm *hash* to remove specific hashes instead of doing a full gc.
I hope the new router works out for you, I remember you having connection issues a few threads ago.
I used ipfs add to add some other files and then promptly closed the terminal session. Also it is anoying that I couldn't open the datastore/access the logs in a text editor. Hopefully by the time I check back those commands are completed. Also why would it take so long when all I want from it is the links and nothing else? If I asked for an intergerty check of every single block ever added then yes I can totally see that being the case.

What is it you're trying to do exactly, get links for a hash? That's this command ipfs ls *hash* I think that's an alias for ipfs object links *hash* That should return instantly as long as you can access that hash, very quick.
`repo stat` is for getting the total size of your local repository, it's slow because it has to traverse the whole datastore to calculate how big it is. I think in the future they're going to just keep and store the size and then recompute that stat on demand/fsck instead of calculating it every time.

The probelm is that I don't remeber the final wrapper hash that was created. Hopefully ipfs ls *hash* will work the peer id. By logI mean the two files located in .ipfs/datastore/, LOG and LOG.old which are for the deamon. When I run run the command to access the logs, it doesn't output what I was expecting (nothing to do with the output of ipfs add) or likely it has been over writtern with all the connections related to the deamon. ipfs repo stat --humanNumObjects 195046RepoSize (MiB) 46508 running ipfs pin ls didn't output anything of use for me.

Oh, there's 2 things you can do for that. The easiest is just to re-add the content with the same flags but also `-n`, this will hash it only and avoid copying so you can get the hash of anything very quickly. Even without -n though it's a fast operation if it's already been added.
If I added a directory with -r and -w I'd do this to retrieve its hash.ipfs add -w -r -n *directory*
Try the recursive flag ipfs pin ls --type=recursive that lists out top level stuff only, so if you added a directory, `ls` will list out the hashes for everything in it, when using "recursive" it would only list out the directory itself, unfortunately they're not ordered in any way if I remember correctly. I think there are plans to optionally store metadata alongside pins eventually so you can know which is which.
I don't think doing `ls` on your peerid will do anything, I'm not actually sure though.
It's intended to be a replacement for http, a p2p content addressed and decentralized system for distributing data. I've seen people say "it's like bittorrent for website" which is a pretty good way to put it. It's handy for share threads because it's self hosted so nobody can take your content down, and you don't need ipfs yourself to get content from it because there are ipfs gateways that just work with anything that knows http. So you can add some file, post the hash and people can access it.
There are plans to have i2p integration as well which will be really nice because then it will have the convenience for those who don't care about privacy but also the option for anonimity via i2p if you need it. When message passing gets implemented people can optionally act as relays too so you could fetch content via ipfs from i2p even if you don't use i2p yourself. I'm pretty excited about the whole thing if it's not obvious.

At the current state, it's a state system without a website. Recall a "web"site implies dynamic content. While the P2P is achievable for sourcing a file, like bittorrent, it's anything but a website.
Call me when someone decides to expand a standard in XML to tell clients to use IPFS instead for a resource.
