I see literally nothing wrong with this on any level.

Well they have (or had) an entire planet to themselves so they're probably pretty damn successful/well off. Think a Tortuga situation, and space is big enough to give them plenty of places to hide in between scores from cargo ships and such.

Seems to be a usual ragtag coalition with a majority of a particular race but Ridley and Kraid seem to be the muscle. (Mostly Ridley) Mother Brain is an ambiguous situation though MP3 implies she may have been created/stolen to be the boss/central intelligence of the pirates. The lizard body might have been made or re-appropriated later.
