I don't need to. It doesn't suck, it just isn't good. It's so generic and all the good stuff you can do in the game you will do in the first 2 or 3 hours, and then that's it. You've seen and done everything the game has to offer. At this point you can do the completionism thing, seek out the Vykeen and other dialect dictionaries and learn all about the mannerisms of those cultures, etc or you can say "I'm done" and stop playing. Most people are doing the latter, with the idea of waiting for this feature or that feature…

But when it boils down to it, the game provides the longevity of Minecraft without the amount of content that would come with it. You can't build anything, you can't destroy anything, all you can do is kill things and collect things.

The game is in desperate need of modding tools, to be honest. Everyone makes their own Minecraft game and none of them get that half of what keeps MC players playing is the most important part: the mod scene.

My game is by no means amazing, but my controls are perfect, I have 6DoF.

What the fuck are the controls in NMS? I don't even know. The asteroids spawn in literally 20 feet in front of you.. the performance is shit.. I can spawn thousands destructible asteroids and it runs smooth as butter.

I have no problem making my project available to anons, and user can compare it to NMS, and we can see what user prefers for space combat if you'd like.

Because there is literally fucking nothing to do. It's that simple. You land on a planet with red rocks, walk around, then go to the planet with green rocks. Rinse and repeat. The "gameplay" is a joke. The resource gathering serves almost no goal except helping you gather more resources. The procedural generation is horrible, many planets end up looking the same after ~5 hours of play and the creatures are godawful. This game is worse than Holla Forums ever imagined.

Spore was released in 2008 had significantly more content, with an equally large scale and even it was considered bland and uninteresting at best. Lets go even further Elite was released in 1984 and had more content and depth than No Mans Sky.

All marketing, no substance, no hope, no fun. No Mans Sky is an all too real indication that gaming in general is going further and further down an abyss of people willing to pay top dollar for an empty promise and over-inflated hype.

I'm using a Ruger 10/22. I've managed to kill a couple, but either only through luck or a headshot. Half the time I get them in the lower torso/limbs and they run off. At that point they're too fucking fast for me to hit.
Should I just keep trying to go for a shot to the head? Or maybe should I use different ammo? My current one is only 30 grain, but I'm afraid if I use a grain that's too high I'll end up exploding/heavily damaging the body.

Flying can be or not be a gameplay depending on how it is done.
In flight sims like VFX just taking off the ground, flying around a bit and landing is pretty tight shit, on par with technical action games like DMC4 or Bayo.
If you fly by default, like in say, Strike Suit or that one game that bombed, you know where jets had gerwalk mode, it's not really gameplay in itself.
