The central plot of this game still makes no fucking sense to me, especially after they did such a poor job establishing Augmentation as something people would reasonably do.
It's fucking weird seeing dozens of people walking around with a single robot leg hanging out, with their pants awkwardly cut off to show the whole leg.. Because it makes no fucking sense. Were these people in a war? No. Did they have cancer of the left leg? Of course not.

Yeah, the setting doesn't make any sense at all. They ditched the conspiracy theories for transhumanism yet Binary Domain and Invisible War did that shit much better.
One of the biggest mistakes they made is to not do anything with Adam turning into a toaster. If it was more up to the player to install augs and make the game react to that I think it would have been more interesting. But no, they turned him into a mech in the first few minutes of the first game and then never really explored that.
