Crysis

How has Crysis aged and is it still worth playing?

Also, is the multiplayer still alive by any chance?

Games don't age. And Crysis is great.

I'd like to know this as well.

The first four or so levels are still incredibly fun and I replay them all the time. Too bad about how shit it becomes and fast.

I played it one or two months ago, and it's still fairly neat.

Dunno about the multiplayer, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I should say I'm caught between either playing this or EYE next.

Tell that to Star Fox (nes), but that's good to hear.

Care to go into how it becomes shit?

Fuck the multiplayer. Crysis and especially Warhead still hold up really well and are very good open-ish shooters that really let you mess around with playstyles. Watch the NanosuitNinja videos, they're quite inspiring.

Crysis is a GOTYAY

Crysis Wars still had a few dudes playin it last time i checked(few years ago) which is a fucking crime because the mp of this game is fucking amazing

That faggot got triggered by the aliens

nice meme

It starts as a sandboxish "choose your approach and escape" commando game, and when it's just you against the regular tier wops, it's an amazingly fun game with loads of replayability and fucking around with your suit.

When the tank enemies become standard and soon after that the aliums arrive, it's just… shit. Can't really explain it better, you'll see for yourself.

It's for the SNES actually, and other than the framerate there isn't a single problem with it. If you overclock the Super FX on an emulator it's a solid on rails shooter with great boss fights and good music.

Nice no-response.

It's a damn shame I missed out then, it looks like you have to go out of your way to mod the multiplayer to play now which makes me think it's probably pretty ded now.

Gotcha, I'm downloading it now so we'll see what happens. Thanks for the heads up.

Huh, I may have to give that a shot. I tried playing it recently and the single digit framerate was giving me a bit of a headache.

Floating squid ayylien bullet sponges show up, they're annoying to fight and you can't mess with their AI the way you can with Koreans.

I just realized the game only takes about 6 gigs… It says a lot about the industry when an open world game from 2007 that looks about as good if not better than new AAA games manages to only take 6 gigs of space compared to the 20+ gig requirement that has become standard.

I didn't have a problem with the aliens. I don't understand the complaints.

It's because of developers being retarded and not compressing sound files or something.
Also doesn't Crysis 3 like render an entire map underneath the actual map to bloat system requirements?

Complete with NVIDIA™ Tessellation. The way it's meant to be played. ©

Reasonably well and yes very much so. Even the more boring part at the end with the aliens is tolerable. Anyone telling you it was just a benchmark is a bullshitter.

Still a generic futuristic fps whose only redeeming quality is its use for graphical bench-marking.

They were difficult just boring. Doubly so when you compare them to the dirty norks who were much more entertaining to fight. What that other user said about tanks being less interesting was accurate also. Strangely this was the same mistake FC1 and given how Crysis is essentially a 'spiritual' sequel to it you'd think they would have avoided it.

weren't difficult*

The Wingblows 10 exclusive scripted corridor shooter Queers of Whore 4 takes 80 FUCKING GIGABOOS.

It's fun until aylioums start coming in.

And fuck Piranha for being greedy jews and effectively killing Mechwarrior Living Legends. That was the most fun I had with vidya in years until pig murdered it.

...

Max Payne 3 takes like 50 gigabytes, it's not that long and still you can't skip the fucking cutscenes

...

The tanks confused me because I couldn't get them to be destroyed, since I kept missing the RPGs lying around. So, I instead jumped on top of the tank but nothing would happen, so I was just riding on it for a while. I was hoping to drop a grenade inside the tank, but I couldn't. There's no hole.

I've been playing it for the last few days. Its alright. Without the Nanosuit it would be a by the books military shooter like Delta Force or something with a larger budget but the Nano suit really changes the game.
The game gets really fun when you get to the ayy lmaos because without them the game simply does not have enough enemy variety and the retarded korean military can be entertaining only for so long.

It's good.
No.
/thread

Even with RPGs they were unsatisfying to fight.

This would at least have been fun. With strength mode it wouldn't have been unreasonable to rip a hatch off either.

Crysis 3 was AMD Radeon.
Crysis 2 was Nvidia.

huh

What the fuck happened? I couldn't bear more than few hours of Crysis 2, the beggining cutscene was a big redflag with new dramatic plot, but it wouldn't be so bad if the gameplay wasn't so tedious.
I didn't even bother with the third one. Is it third any good?

Also, who holds his gun like this if you want to shoot yourself?

No longer PC exclusive.

niggers.
Also yeah crysis 3 had something to do with arrows'n shieeet idk my dude, crysis 1 is best.

fucking niggers what happened to this series pisses me off

Consoles happened

Console niggers can't have big open environments.

Right, I forgot.

That cant be true. Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard for a game that barely looks better than Crysis 2.

It's definitely worth a playthrough or two. The only people that say that it's a mediocre game only praised for fancy gwafix are either consolefaggots or have toasters and are buttmad they can't play it.

The first half of it is genuinely fun and the game peaks right before the first tank mission. It's sort of "wide linear" where you can't go wherever you want on a big island, but your goal is to get to a specific place ahead of you and there's a lot of ways to do that. The soldiers you fight have decent AI and fucking with them is very fun. The game (first half) is pretty much predator vs prey, and you're the predator. My favorite part was sneaking up on a medium sized patrol and what I ended up doing was waiting until none of them were looking in the direction of one guy, using speed mode to run in and grab him by the throat and run out before I was noticed, then I'd kill him and he'd scream and scare everyone in the patrol then I'd repeat. From their perspective it was like every 30 seconds someone in their squad disappeared and was killed in the distance and all they had to go on was some rustling noises whenever it happened.

You can also do shit like bust into a compound by super punching a car through the wall, throw people around, go into maximum armor with a minigun and go head on, strap C4 to a car and drive it into a fortified position then jump out before detonating it, play a traditional stealth killer/ghost, or pretty much anything you can think of.

fuck it I'm booting it up again, gotta watch those sweet sweet rope bridges.

crysis hasn't really been outdone and it probably looks just fine even today. check out the warhead expansion if you finish the main game and want more.

Spoilers ahead, 0G crap with instakill enemies followed by crappy escort mission followed by two on rail missions back to back then 5 minutes of cutscene followed by mediocre finale with heavily scripted sequences everywhere.

Still mad about the wasted potential.

After warhead it got even worse somehow. I played the second one and it was terrible. Didn't even play the 3rd.

How did they fuck up so bad?

Console happened
Crysis 3 isn't any better but i'd prefer it over Crysis 2 10 times.

I'm hoping crytek gets their shit toghether and just fucking remake Crysis 1, it's clear nobody gave a shit about 2 and 3.

Honestly through, the game compleatly drops in quality after you fall into the alien place, the game is way more fun fighting against the koreans.

Same goes for Crysis Warhead.

I played them in reverse order because I got my first good gaming rig around the time Crysis 3 came out so I wanted to really push it. Playing it backwards is really weird because the games get longer and have more features as you progress. If you told me that 3 was the first game and that the first was the third one I would have believed you if not for the graphics and "story."
A shame, really. I guess consoles really are evil and destroy perfectly good franchises.

It was kind of linear in the way that it wasn't "open world" but there were a variety of ways to deal with each enemy encampment because of how big the maps were.

Absolutely, the aliens look cool but there's not really tactics or creativity to fighting them other than "shoot it until it dies"

More like predator.
