Good/Bad Purchases Due To Peer Pressure

How many good/bad vidya purchases (or pirated) did you make due to friends and family?

I've come to realize that purchasing games just to play with others is always a gamble. Now I only buy single player games besides fighting games to play with a friend. Other than that it's Overwatch which I only play with my family every blue moon. While I enjoyed it at first, the game doesn't have enough content or depth to keep me playing on my own time. I think that's the only game I've enjoyed that I've bought out of peer pressure out of many years. Then again, I haven't done it much.

no man sky

Every time

Shilling Floor 2

I just hoped that it would be at least close to it's predecessor.

friend of mines been trying to get me to buy battlefield hardline for 20 bucks.
you know who you are
Is it worth it? is it fun?

Otherwise yeah I was pressured into buying Saints Row 3 and I regret it every day.

Garry's mod.
And I still have some fun with it.

Warframe.

the maps and the players suck. it got better than kf1 when they added the LAR

We're not friends anymore.

I haven't played a vidya since Spore.

how was that game after all?it's out of alpha yet?

Smash Bros 4. I remember people hyping it to hell and back and I got it on 3DS, and then nobody mentioned it since. I at least got 20 hours from it but when I think about the time I spent with Melee and Brawl it felt a lot less great in retrospect.

yeah do it fam you can trust me because i talk like a fucking nigger

better graphics, terrible everything else.

microtransactions, early access, etc

kf1 had microtransactions you fucking idiot

It really does feel like a lesser Brawl with somehow even worse balance

None because my friends and family don't play video games. Some coworkers of mine encouraged me to play Overwatch but I told them I don't like FPSs.

GW 2, ESO Unsubbed before hte first month was over and worse.

God damn, OP, I live in normalfag city, capital of normalfagvania. I don't get recommendations from anywhere except Holla Forums.
On that note: you niggers are wrong about Dragon's Dogma. But you're right about Vanquish. So fuck you, and thanks.

kf1 had dlc you sad cunt.

mt=/=dlc

I could look past it because its on a handheld, but at the same time looking at the Wii U version it seems to still have less content compared to prior games. Like the Subspace mode on Brawl or all those cool challenges in Melee.

it's just an iron sight zombie shooter. you really can't do much to make that good.

After playing PM3.5 it just felt so boring. I bought it for Smash Run. Only to realize they put Smash Run on a system that couldn't handle it. Smash Run should have been on the WiiU with customization options (like adding more time), multiplayer where you can fuck with players on the map, and maybe have rounds. In between rounds you can purchase items to get a head start on the next round through the maze.

The only character I actually wanted in was Dark Samus. It became an assist trophy but maybe the gameplay would be great? It's just decent really. After PM, it just felt so boring to play. Items are too OP too. Many of them being "I grab this and you die" instead of being a slight advantage. And to make matters worse, the custom movesets were pretty lazy. Many not actually being new attacks but just altered versions of their normal attack.

I have a few friends into vidya but only 2 of them share my tastes. Everyone else just plays what's popular.

It's definitely not for everyone. It's one of my favorite games but I can definitely see why it would turn people away. Most of the game gets boring once you get a few levels and all enemies become trash besides the ogres and drakes. Also the way the game calculates damage is retarded.

Starbound was the only game I bought out of peer pressure. I spent like 2 and a half hours telling my 2 friends that it looked like a shit game and that I didn't want to play it, but they kept insisting until I finally bought it. I regret buying it.

I just want to kill giant incests with my friends ;~;

Duke Nukem Forever. I didn't really hate on it the way SJWs and meme gamers, but it still saddens me to see the Duke in that state.

I couldn't even get a friend to pirate it.

Its probably because EDF doesn't have wacky famous youtubers making wacky internet videos on it.

At this point wanting people to get into a game that isn't famous is a lost cause.

Xbox 360. Everyone I knew at the time had one. Bought it, then they were never online.

At least I got to play Lost Odyssey and Ace Combat 6 before the fucking thing RRODed.

I have the Wii U version and its definitely inferior to all the previous entries with the possible exception of the original and that's only because it doesn't hold up that well with its age.

None, I don't have any friends

That's because vidya is a social thing for them. Sure they can enjoy it alone but enjoying it with others or telling them stories about it is their biggest priority. If it's not advertised, then it might as well not exist. Hearing a game is not the same as seeing one.

I have at least one friend to play fighters with. That's all I need.

Well, at least now I can feel safe not buying or pirating it.

That's disappointing to say the least, EDF is a pretty fun game.

It definitely is. Even if vidya is their main hobby, they don't feel the need to dig into any niches because what mainsteam games have to offer is just what they want. Even if they wanted more, in which case some of them do, they have no idea where to start looking or what is even out there. You can get people to play some games they would have never touched to begin with if you just talk to them the right way. I got someone to play Dragon's Dogma despite them never touching Japanese games in general.

Anyway I'm in the mood for some EDF 4. If you have the PS4 version then I'll play if you're in the mood for it.

I agree, it feels too bouncy and slow. Something about it is definitely less optimized. It looks nicer, but they could have done so much better with a more diverse roster, moveset, music and stage selection, at least pac-man and the dog got in.

Such a shame the more popular edgy characters broke the game. Fucking cloud and bayo man.

SWTOR.
Everyone's a fucking jedi. If everyone's special, then nobody is.
Fuck my life.

I almost bought elder scrolls online to play with a friend I hadn't talked to in years

I've settled for just not having any friends

ayyyo muh nycka we here fo u tho fam

but yea good lookin not gettin dat ESO dawg dat shit b bad dawg dat shit b bad

i ain't neva bought nothin jus cause some nyckas pressured me into it tho.

Sorry brother, still too much of an indecisivefag to get a PS4 right now.

It's boring

>Bought DD:DA when it was on sale on Steam
My friends usually surprise me sometimes with some good games and I thank them for that.

None, im all alone

How do you fuck up so bad with a game series? Goddamn, Gearbox is really upping their incompetency these days.

Beat this

Believe it or not, I actually had more fun on this than I did on Burgerlands. Granted, my friend bought it for me as a gag when it was like 1 dollar. We just fucked around and hunted Brazilians.

I pre-ordered it and played once

...

Money well spent.

Isn't that every place? Where is there a land of anons anywhere?

I'm not 14.

and have a spine.

This.

My little brother listens to his friends too much

And more from this, last, and the ps2 gen

Worst €30 I ever spend.

None. I don't fall for peer pressure, by the virtue of "fuck that" trait.

World's too big and live's too short to give a shit about every little pile of garbage, only spend your time on what you immediately see as worthwhile.

All my bad purchases apart from godus are from friends wanting me to get a game so we can all multiplayer, but that's not to say I always give in.

Currently holding out against overwatch, and the new battlefield 1 will soon be rearing its ugly head.

>buy Undertale

I've wasted $10 on worse things and it still makes a dedicated few spergmos on Holla Forums upset that the game exists nearly a year later. It's hilarious.

Only I can think of would be Borderlands and that was because I wanted to play with a friend I moved away from. It was even boring coop.

Overwatch came out and I was completely uninterested in it, the only thing that I cared about was the porn but even then I wasn't that bothered. All my friends bought it on release and had fun playing it. I thought they would drop it in a couple of weeks but they just kept playing it, even friends I hadn't seen much in the last few years started buying it and playing together again.

In the end I caved and bought it so I could join them. I didn't expect much but i've actually been enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

Serves you right. ArmA is the way to go.

Good or bad?

Overwatch. Played it for about 6 hours before being reminded why I hate hit scan FPS. Never installed it again.
