Well it is true that certain jobs in the Navy give you very little chance to sleep. I never worked up on the bridge, I was in the engine room. Sometimes my workload was so crazy I would be working straight for over 30 hours. This is standing watches, doing drills, doing maintenance, and then my side jobs which included gauge calibration and handling hazmat.

I think it's sometimes you have to jump through hoops to get qualified to stand a watch and they don't make it easy. How it's supposed to go is you have a certain time limit to get trained to stand a watch. There's several you have to get trained for when you arrive on the ship depending on your job, and it's one after the other. You get qualified one, you start training on the next one. You're supposed to study for a written test. When you pass written test you start standing Under Instruct watches. Pretty much someone else is on watch and you're there doing the job while they watch you. After you do that a few times you schedual a board of chiefs that grill you with hypothetical scenarios and questions on certain systems. You answer all of them, congratulations. Start standing watch and train for you next one.

But they don't fucking push more people to get trained. So the same people are standing watch over and over again while another group of people are dicking off on the mess decks. Once they get the shits of people doing nothing, they ram a whole bunch of people through the training program giving them only the basics of what they need to do. Pretty much during a normal day how to stand there and take logs. I saw it in the engineroom. Usually you're just taking logs on equipment for hours, anyone can do that. But what if something leaks? What if something breaks or goes out of spec? What if there's a major bell change? What if there's a fire? An improperly trained person is going to be lost.

'Khibiny' System

Description: The Russian Air Force Khibiny is an advanced aircraft-mounted electronic warfare (EW) system capable of jamming state-of-the-art radar-based weapon systems. It consists of a small torpedo-shaped wingtip pod that covers the aircraft with radio-electronic protective hood once a missile attack has been detected. The protective hood prevents the missile from reaching the target and makes it deviate from the course. According to KRET corporation the Khibiny increases the aircraft's survivability by 25-30 times. This pod development is the result of the lessons learned during the conflict with Georgia in 2008 where all the aircraft lost were not fitted with an EW system which is the main cause of them being shot down. The Khibiny jamming system was tested successfully for some time on the ground in Buryatia, Russian Federation. The Russian Air Force plans call for the installation of the Khibiny jammer on all its advanced jets such as Su-30SM, Su-30M2, Su-34 and Su-35 (Khibiny-10V). The Khibiny-10V is a version installed internally instead of the wingtips.

When I was in we would be doing certain evolution (that's what they call a big task or an event or something) where it would require people to be in key areas on the ship and wearing sound-powered phones. Those are these headsets that you can jack into the wall and the sound of your voice carriers it throughout the ship to anyone else with a sound powered phone. You can even speak through the ear piece if the mic part is broken. There's different networks you can jack into, so everyone can be on the same page during an event that needs group communication. The only thing is, you can't tell who is talking, since it's basically a bunch of cups tied to strings, you can't trace where someone is talking from. So anyway, you could always tell it was some fucking nigger jacked in because they would pull out their cellphone and play rap music over the line. No one could hear what the fuck what was going on, no one could report what was going on. Faintly you could hear someone screaming over the line over the music to turn that shit off, keep it professional. I mean we're doing some important ass shit and people all across the ship need to report if anything goes wrong, and fucking Fireman Jackson is playing Lil' Wayne loud as fuck.

GPS is a really weak signal and is easy to jam - they need to go back to point-to-point navigation as the Navy has no failover if GPS gets jammed. So this nigger gets it in his head to do the most retarded thing I've ever seen in my life. He gets a pretty sizable length of plastic tubing, and puts one end over the spigot and cranks it on full. He starts walking around with the other end of the tube with his thumb on the end spraying shit down like he was watering plants in his garden. Just fucking spraying jet fuel around running equipment, puddles of it gathering on the deck plates. That's about the time the CO decided he wanted to come down and see how things were moving along and catches this dumb ass spraying JP-5 all over the place.
