Well, people would need to still be playing it in like they were a month ago.

The lack of meaningful feature updates and aggressive push to make the game less fun (lower encounters, lower capture rate, and higher flee rate, because Niantic is fucking retarded) is pushing more people into the "I'm just going to wait until they make the game playable" camp… and if no one is playing, then they aren't making money, which means the game will just fade into obscurity.

Even those shitty porny pay2win mobile games have more engaging gameplay than Pokemon Go, for fuck's sake.

A lot of this. I still play the game as a time waster at work, but it's lost a lot of the draw. The big thing that hurt it was when they killed the third party trackers.

I understand the logic of why they did and agree both that it puts too much strain on the servers and that being able to see where pokemon are anywhere at any time defeats the purpose of the game, but without any alternatives to track specific pokemon, it was necessary. Somehow they've actually managed to make the ingame tracker worse every fucking time they've touched it. Atleast back when Pokevision was a thing I could go out and have fun rushing for a good spawn whenever I noticed one nearby.

Other issues… The game balance is fucked in a lot of ways. The way they converted pokemon stats to their Go version made speed-based mons trash and made mons with well rounded physical and special attack/defense powerhouses and specialists who are strong in either physical or special but weak in the other lackluster, when it would be more logical for it to be the other way around. This also contributes to pokemon like Snorlax and Lapras having no real counters (since the Fighting types and Electric types all suck), though part of that is also just the limited Gen 1 pokemon list.

I like the game for what it is, and it's made me interested in picking up actual Pokemon again despite having not played in years, but Niantic continues to be a disappointment.

in third world countries like Chile and Mexico at least.

1. Farm gathering spots for consumables. They're static (like city landmarks) with 5 mins respawn.

2. Camp until the pokemen spawn. Premium items can be bought to speed up the process.

3. The capture itself is a minigame with a random chance to fail and waste your consumables. Enjoy losing 5 poketesticles on a bat.

4. You don't fight other people's dogs directly. When you think your pitbull is mean and fat enough, you visit a gym (among the gathering points) and fight an entry made by someone. It's another completely idiotic minigame.

I play the game with my kid, but for us it's merely treasure hunting. Fortunately we have a gathering point right in front of home, I can't even imagine how you can play the game if you need to drive somewhere to restock items every day.
