im enjoying the star sapphire hack right now. Being able to catch pokemon from all gens is what nintendo should be allowing but of course the kikes want you to spend money on catchin them all. Right now rocking togepi, blissey, ekans, marshtomp, darumaka, and inkay. Im enjoying the challenge provided by the hack. Normal pokemon battles with npcs can be tricky. got taken out by faggit who had a venonat, nincada, venipede and bellsprout earlier. But blissey and togepi are wrecking shit with all their stat chaning moves. Inkay combo of swagger and foul play is risky but rewarding.

The only insectoid thing about flygon is that the goggle things covering it's eyes look like compound eyes

I saw this interesting article in yesterday's Pokemon World Championship thread yesterday, and I found some very interesting connections to how modern Pokemon is played.

Not only is there clear influence on Stadium's rules, their early competitive rules included team preview that has been in the game since Gen 5. It's quite interesting to see how it all worked out, I just wish there were more than two articles.

Not sure I agree. Smogon has those clauses, but freezing was only really good in Gen 1 since YOU CAN'T UNFREEZE UNLESS HIT WITH A FIRE MOVE. Freeze is random so it's a bit unfair to enforce that rule (unless hardcoded into the game which I would mind less). Sleep is reliable though so I wouldn't mind if, say, only one sleep causing move were allowed on a team.

I guess freezing being nerfed makes it a dead status effect. Still, No sleep clause in a meta were dark void exists might be a bad thing

To be honest I've been wanting a reliable way of inflicting Freeze since Gen 3, it only makes it more bullshit when random freezing happens.

Freeze is a dead status effect because it's only applied by moves that have a 10% chance to freeze. Every other status has at least one move that does nothing but apply it.

I dunno, Transform Smeargle would probably still be around honestly.

Freeze is still ridiculously overpowered. It's an 80% chance of fuck you every turn until you finally roll a 5 on a d5. It's just incredibly uncommon because all the moves that cause freeze only have a 10% chance to do so or are tri attack and must share their chance with two other status'
It's truly RNG: the status. Big gamble to get it, big gambles when you have it.
That and there's no maximum #turns for freeze, you could literally just be forzen forever.

And yet in the Battle Tower I've had several "thaws immediately after freezing the opponent" moments. I guess it just goes to show that the Battle Tower cheats hard.

I'm going to say it again, the Battle Tower cheats hard. It is the RNG, and it abuses that fact. I imagine if you reach a high enough streak of wins, the RNG would never go your way and always go their way. Has anyone ever tested that? I'm sure you can fake the game into thinking you have a 1000 streak or something.

You're gonna hit a 5 eventually if you play long enough. That's how probability works. The longer you play, the more chances the RNG has to screw you over, so it's going to happen eventually.

Don't forget an evasion buff or accuracy debuff that causes your moves to go to like a decimal percent chance because FUCK YOU! that's why.

Also protect/toxic combo where the pokemon can use protect every fucking while you poison to death, quick claw activating 90% of the time (and no the pokemon do parameters for what the AI can never use a OHKO move on you; but FUCK that power trick Shuckle in the Battle Mansion), and I'm sure there's more because people have hacked the game to fine out…

It's been confirmed that the Battle ___ events do get more weighted in their favor as tiers progress.

Also the AI can read ahead in the RNG sequence, and determine optimal plays. It does do this.

I haven't even gotten to 56 in the level 50 Battle Tower in Emerald yet. I died in the last streak I needed for the ribbon because I switched something useful out for my ribbon master Claydol, and Claydol is not that great.

In XY, my first super singles was going well because I was using a bullshit team. Then like around 40 rounds (can't remember if higher or lower), two of my pokemon fainted so I couldn't set it up the bullshit and my Megaskhan and the foe's Gengar was left.

How I lost you may ask? Three of my moves had any no effects and Gengar was able to use Sucker Punched me to death because he was faster. So I lost to a Elemental Punch, Will-O-Wisp, Sucker Punch fucking Gengar. So I started carrying Crunch on my Kang ever since. The fucked up part, it didn't appear the second time I did the singles and won.

Losing to bullshit like that makes me mad, hell he won cuz Mega Mon can't touch ghosts. WoW fucks her good too

Any advice on what I should dump for Claydol when the time comes? And maybe sets to make Claydol sort of useful? I can't EV train since they're level 50, refuse to breed since they do fine as is, and can't hack since I'm on a real cart with no AR.

The general strategy is that Slaking slakes the first Pokemon with D-E or EQ and maybe damages the second if it seems like an easy target or is Chansey/Blissey. Metagross takes out one or two guys but is mostly there to explode. Milotic for out-stalling everything and Skarmory, or taking out late rock types when Slaking is choiced. I tried replacing Metagross last time, but I'm not sure how much he would have helped.

I hacked up a team for my future Masion run, that one popular AI abuse Triples set, so I think I'm good there, hopefully.

Like I said, this team was nearly good enough, just not quite. if it makes you feel better I made them chug some vitamins to help boost some of their mainly used stats.

No, at the Battle Masion in Gen 6 you fight a Chantilane at 50 in supers, 20 in normals. You're right on Emerald's though.

They've got some really nice bells and whistles, as well as opportunities to capture almost every legendary from gen 2 to 5. However they gutted the endgame severely so that it is identical to X and Y.
