Enderal

Any Anons play this? It's a total conversion mod for Skyrim. I gave it a try after someone recommended it.
Gameplay is mostly the same but the story is pretty engaging so far. I'm also impressed by the german voice acting, which is probably a first for me. I think the english dub got released but I'm not sure how it compares to it.

I'll pass.
Combat is so dull I find it hard to care.

Skills and combat work different. You'll notice that on the long run. These people also made Nehrim which also threw the level scaling bullshit into the trash.

I can only recommend you giving it a shot, it might feel a bit like Skyrim at times but it sure as hell aint exactly like it. It even runs better than Skyrim ever did for me.

Maybe I'll check it out.
If the world building is decent enough maybe I can look past the abysmal combat.

The world building is damn great, seriously blew me away a few times. Same goes for Nehrim.
These are the kind of people Bethesda should be afraid of, because they sure as fuck blew them out of the water.

I'm not worried if it's better than Skyrim, but is it better than Nehrim?

I'm gonna repost some old screenshots because I haven't looked at them or played Nehrim in ages.

Are porns mods compatible?

There is no way I'm going to try it if its only for muh story.

You thought modding would help ease the gameplay, but the gameplay never goes away.

If it's anything like Nehrim, you won't be able to use any other mods.

Should work.

Well only gameplay changing mods wouldnt work, I'm using camera and hud mods now and they work like they should.

That's a real shame, all I wanted out of Nehrim was a damage multiplier.

Well, the combat is a bit more interesting. You regenerate health outside of combat with food, but in combat you can only use potions which are more scarce, pricey and also have a side effect. They put some thought behind those changes. AI also seems to be a bit more relentless than I remember it from Skyrim, though I may be wrong.
Yells got replaced by active abilities you learn from skill trees and you can invest in several different paths. Nothing special for an ARPG but it's better than what Skyrim had.

Though I don't know which the most fun class combinations are. I've just been running around swinging the biggest sword I can get my hands on.

it's sad that almost nobody seems to have played Nehrim. it should be praised, yet it just faded away like it never happened.

Unfortunately, there's only so much you can do with Oblivion's system.

Does it convert skyrim into a good game?

So far, yes.

Wrong, you can't fix skyrim. Its shitiness is built in on a fundamental level.

You're in for a surprise.

I'm already surprised that bethestards and redditors are still clinging to the false belief that there was or will ever be an iota of value in skyrim.

Then why the fuck did you ask?

Oh I agree that Skyrim is a total shitfest. It is only that this thing feels like a new game that does something new and takes back shit from Morrowind and older RPGs. Same counts for Oblivion.

I wanted to see if the shills were as deluded as I believed that there is anything good about skyrim, and it looks like I was right.

Oh yes I'm a 100% paid shill. You really got me there buddy.

I didn't think it would be that easy to get you to admit it.

Yeah, everyone who talks about something you don't like is a shill.
Now fuck off somewhere else.

...

I get paid 20 bucks per post. 40 while I'm sucking Todds dick.

This fucking thread wasnt about Skyrim, it was about a fucking total conversion. You fucking dumb ass.

Just don't bother with him. How are the quests? The environments in Nehrim were really impressive to me, and it looks the same in this.

You can't convert the shit out. You just put sprinkles on it and sprayed some perfume.

Some are the same; go there, kill shit. A few stand out. They're all told much better though, the characters sometimes mislead you.

Quests are interesting, but sadly not like in Nehrim that you're better off writing shit down. Some Nehrim quests also had fun little gimmicks, I haven't run across one of those yet in Enderal.
Story line however makes up for it.

It only uses a few assets, the skill system, leveling system and combat has been totally revamped. This is what Nehrim was known for.
You can even make furniture, fly airships, blue print and the like. But whatever you want to believe, this thing doesnt add anything to Skyrim itself and it uses its own launcher and scripts.

...

...

is it standalone or do i need to download skyrim to play?

mah niggas

Is there any way to get english subtitles but the german voices, like with Nehrim? I thought that was supposed to be an option.

holy shit they sure took their time to translate it
jesus fuck

What's a good mod manager?

Normally I'm on the position of not being an idiot, but the ability to swap between Enderal and modded Skyrim seems like something I can't do so easily on my own.

Copy your skyrim folder and rename it to something else (including your folder in the My Games directory), get a fresh vanilla install and install Enderal. If you want to switch between them, just rename the folders.

The game has a separate launcher

that's kinda gay
I don't care about skyrim

You can just delete it after I think.

I had heard this was a sequel to nehrim, so should I finish nehrim first?
I'm up to the part where you join the mages and am collecting the other acolytes, but, shit, the oblivion engine feel so shaky I get stressed out because of the ever-present feeling that it's going to crash at any moment. It's already crashed about 3 or 4 times on me so far.

It's a little bit of a sequel, but the game covers important events in a cutscene at the start.

Am i the only one getting massive framerate drops when looking at the setting sun?

(dubs)
(dubs)
(double dubs)
(quads)

Are you new or something

News of this reminds me of that other conversion. When do you think we could expect Andoran? The Russians have been teasing us with it for years now.

remember how much those stunk in Nehrim? some genius decided to make them completely white, which turns almost invisible in light background. my biggest annoyance from that game.

It has significantly better voice acting than Bethesda's effort, so that's an embarrassing plus.

welp

I just finished installing it, what am I in for?

I still have no idea why you guys dont like skyrim

Because it's shit.

why you say that?

Gee, Mr. Howard. Maybe it's because it plays it all by the book and is putting its lore on the backburner because Pete Hines and friends want the Game of Thrones audience. Not to mention the stagnant gameplay that is going backwards, not forwards.

I understand, what do you suggest Mister?

It strips out most of the RPG from an RPG franchise. Not just mechanically, in the way it tells the story and sets up the world too.

lurk more, faggot.

Not to sound like a faggot, but I'm pissed that the only good ending is the one where you have to literally Shepard yourself at the fucking thing.

The other ending feels hollow. Like you fucking wet the bed.

It's pretty generic but overall good fun

Haven't been this cucked since the ending to UnderRail.

Sexlab and 0Sex both technically work besides occasional crashes.

get better lore and character writing
also more rpg elements and better combat

I've just hit Ark, can I equip Jespar later with Gear or am I better off just hawking the gear I think would be good for him?

It looks like Enderal requires steam in order to run properly. Does anyone know of a way to bypass this?

You can only equip yourself, so just sell everything you don't need.

...

I pirated Skyrim and it works fine for me.

Good lord, might I almost haveā€¦ fun with this?

Jespar and other companions aren't permanent; you only get them over the course of some quests. Even then, they will refuse to follow you if you stray to far off the beaten road towards the quest location.

Enderal supposedly is pretty okay-ish when it comes to mod compability.

I got the gameplay mods I wanted, I'm a happy man. Being unable to do this is what made me stop playing Nehrim.

With these trips, I'll probably check it out as well.

Why wouldn't it work with Nehrim? I think the only mechanic they changed was Levelling, and you've got that in Enderal, too.

Why are you so threatened by this mod? I agree Skyrim is trash but why is their fear leaking from all of your posts?

I dunno why, I just remember it not working and me being really disappointed.

In other news - how many Tumblrinas do you think will get triggered when it turns out you can't prevent (and this seriously is a fucking spoiler) Calia being raped ?

Zero. Tumblr won't play this mod.

Does that just increase damage overall? Combat is pretty brutal so I don't know if it's necessary for me.

This.

The one I've got is handy enough to let you adjust the damage per difficulty level as you please. Legendary is set to x4/x4 damage taken and dealt, but that was way overkill, so I toned it down to x3/x3, and I'll still probably take it down to x2.5/x2.5 so wolves kill me in four hits instead of three.
I've also got one that reduces movement speed while you walk backwards or sideways, and it slows you further if you've got a spell out. Throw in the mod that removes turning while attacking, and I actually have to pay attention for wolves howling.

Do bear in mind that the fixed-level enemies in Enderal already can fuck your shit up pretty badly, especially because they usually attack in groups.

Wait, I don't even remember this happening. When?

In the "Angel" quest, when you are separated from Calia by the mercenaries and she turns into a demonic form to fuck their shit up soon after

My shit has been sufficiently fucked, don't worry. Ranged enemies are a horrible terror and I love it. I remember coming across some skeletons near a rock outcropping. Only three of them, but after I took one out and started on the other, I took an arrow to the foot that blasted half my HP, and when I went to close the distance, I thought I'd died because I fell over my own feet while running.
I did die when the skeleton came up and beaned me with an axe, but man, was that fun.

I didn't have the impression they were raping her, but I was more focused on getting back to the main hall than on their dialogs, so I could have missed it.

I'm pretty sure movement does exactly what you said. I get my shit pushed in frequently if I don't wear heavy armor, and archers are a huge pain in the ass. I actually noticed myself looking for cover a lot.

Well, they did strip her naked, and judging by the noises she made, whatever they did to her was not very pleasant. But maybe the dialogue is different in the English version

I'm pretty sure Enderal's regular movement isn't changed. I can backpedal all day just fine. You go for armor, I just go for HM-style beatdowns.

If you think archers are bad, wait until you get to those fucking mages who spam that creeping frost spell. Bonus points for when there's multiple of them.

Frost mages were already the worst to deal with, I can't imagine them being much different here.

I played in German, but I probably just missed it.
I doubt I have a save around that time, so I'll just believe you.

Fuck those guys, even near the end of the game and decked out in the best stuff I could find, a group of mages were deadly.

I mean I do backpedal but it seems a lot slower than turning around and legging it. I get pummeled by claymore-fags or shield dudes frequently, so I play defensively with my battle mage. I tried a dual wielding character and had to play a lot more aggressive though.

I already fought two of them. I learned to just kill them at range with my own magic.
Elementarism is really fucking good, but I don't know if I want to stick with it. I'm really unsure what kind of playstyle would be the most fun. I probably have autism or something, I can never stick with one character.

Oh shit it's out now?
I'm actually still in my Nehrim playthrough. Nehrim feels like the game Oblivion should have been. If Enderal is even half as good as Nehrim, then it's definitely worth a play.

Summoning magic supposedly is extremely strong, though this may or may not be addressed via patches at some point in the future. Sadly, the other schools of magic are mostly just there for the utility spells - if you wanna play a mage, elementarism is more or less mandatory.

As for the Frost mages, I played a warrior with a two-handed weapon and heavy armor. Even with the Resist Magic spell and a relatively high skill in Light Magic, those fuckers proved so frustrating that I got myself two staves of fireball and dual-fired them to nuke these fuckers whenever more than one of them showed up.

I'm just mostly stumped because of the class system and because I don't know which combination would be most fun to play as.
I tried to make a dickstab thief but kept getting butchered by wolves at the start.

I know this is such a little thing to praise, and I can't believe I have to say this, but WOW MOVING PLATFORMS ARE GREAT I WONDER HOW MUCH EFFORT THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH TO MAKE IT WORK.
Fuck you, Bethesda, fucking Morrowind should've had moving goddamn platforms.

Morrowind's physics were so fucked up it would never have worked. Getting stuck on things that weren't a totally flat surface was common enough that some form of levitation was practically required to get through the game.

Ministry of Truth
Telvanni Towers

Levitation was a fucking requirement.

Are you implying that building staircases with books was not as amusing as it was practical?

Oblivion, then. There's no excuse for a game with so many dungeons to not have a single platforming section somewhere.

I think you can technically get around doing that with the backdoor route of killing everybody that has the things you need to break Lorkhan's heart.

Oblivion for sure. I didn't realize it seemed weirdly missing until I went through a moving platform section in Nehrim. It's such a small cliche thing but it feels wrong to have your physics engine go to waste without them.

Good joke

Bullshit, pirate versions work. It only copes some files

I assume because Nehrim is fucking held together with string and ductape. I reinstalled it on a newer system and it crashed about 20 times before I made it out of the tutorial dungeon, and pretty much unplayable by the time I got to the abbey.

tumblr playing this, much less knowing about it would imply they are actually interested in videogames.

He's clearly jealous of the amazing modding tools that Bethesda has created.

...

Get the onslaught skill from the premium warehouse guy at Ark's noble district. It's a dash that does aoe at the end.

It's a real shame Bethesda can't make environments half as nice as these.

it's shit, fam

ur a cheeky cunt m8

These mods can only be good if the base game is garbage. Arktwend, Nehrim's prequel made in Morrowind, is absolute dogshit.

Aren't most Morrowind overhauls dogshit?

I think you mean Total Conversions. Arktwend is the only complete, released Morrowind TC. Some shit it has:

That sounds absolutely horrifying.

It would be, but there's no actual chance to escape when there's two rings of them surrounding you. You can run from the zombie horde very easily, but you'll be gathering endless swarms of them so you can't actually return to where they were unless you want to get sub-10 FPS.

Yeah I did notice that, I thought it was just to railroad you to Ark faster.

It's a shame I really want him as a permanent companion.

Enderal 2 when?

Well where did you pirated Skyrim from?

I looked around our share threads until I found it somewhere.

Man, this mod is really dark, isn't it?

Here is the correct ending audio.

vocaroo.com/i/s1gYlNqHPmsA

Can't get excited about skyrim mods honestly.
