There's a chance. Honestly, I'm slightly disappointed that the news of Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer endorsing Ellison came so soon. I was hoping acceptance would be preceded by a big, messy fight that really laid bare the loyalties of establishment Democrats before the next primary season, so that the left wing might drain their own half of the swamp the way Trump won't.

Instead, it seems that Schumer and his ilk are clever enough to step aside while they still have credibility in the eyes of American voters. They know they can hand the reins to progressives while the Democrats are in minority everywhere and they'll have plenty of time for uncle Porky to plan his next move. Still, having a self-proclaimed Socialist as the spiritual leader of the party is really exciting, and I hope it does something in the way of improving class consciousness and making Socialist less of a dirty word.
