I am interested in this stuff. How do you reverse engineer a hash? Do you just iterate over a range of IPs, hashing each one until you get a matching hash? And when you get the IP address, what can you do with it?

And what if it's salted on the server? You would basically never figure it out. I think only the site admins would have the IPs provide they even save them at all.

Another question… OP basically said he was using his real IP at the time of report/ban, but spoofed his MAC to get a new address. If he's no longer using the same IP address, is there anything you can do with this "old" hash?

It's still a valid IP, even if he's no longer using it, and will have some info attached to it. Nothing gained or lost if it's a fake hash. As for what can be done with the IP, just look it up. I'm not going into detail while the site is potentially being audited by CF. I'm guessing the only reason this thread hasn't 404'd is because the idiot was dumb enough to post the hash himself.
