Why do you guys still think that a revolution is possible? The absolute height of class consciousness was between the two world wars and that didnt even trigger a global revolution by the proletariat. (Not the vangaurd)
How do you guys even consider the possibility of revolution with the proletariat being so highly domesticated and subjected to the liberal naratives their whole life? (populism/nationalism/Liberal progressivism/Conservatism)
A revolution is the only way change is going to happen, if it ever will.
Reformism doesn't work, we've tried it in europe for 100 years now, and we're still not much further. OH and the fact that we even have voting rights in the netherlands is because of Troelstra and the labour movement. Based troelstra also staged a revolution.
Its not so much that we think its possible, its that there is no option. Its socialism or barbarism.
Robert Smith
Honestly, I don't think it's possible.
Even if class consciousness was high enough, the bourgeoisie could literally destroy this world before they lose power. They've had the weapons since 1945.
Everyone is wrapped up in their little social media bubble complaining about mansplaining.
William Baker
Communism will win Reformation does not work Therefore, revolution will happen
James Ward
I'd actually point to the very eve of WWI. The exact final moment at which global class-consciousness crested was when the 2nd International disintegrated after the vote to back the war, instead of blocking it through a coordinated general strike and completely humiliating the "great powers" as their own citizenry linked hands en masse.
3rd international a shit
Alexander Kelly
I don't care whether it's possible or not, I just want one to happen.
Joseph Clark
People start losing faith in their own culture and ideology when the real world starts contradicting their own world view. I hope we're near the end point of liberalism as a whole in the west.
Dylan Hughes
Class consciousness is irrelevant. It is neither sufficient nor necessary for a successful revolution. What matters are the material conditions. The material conditions have not yet changed sufficiently for communism to be an obviously better choice than capitalism. When people are starving on the streets, then you will get your revolution.
Zachary Young
Can we now say that Socdems legitly destroyed any possibility for global communism?
Nathan Sanders
Shoo shoo Bookchin.
Josiah Anderson
Class consciousness by itself isn't as important as material conditions.
While class consciousness was on the rise during the interwar period due to the depression, it was tampered by SocDem policies and ultimately reversed with post-war prosperity.
There is no big SocDem movement this time around, and every day the old welfare states are being more and more dismantled. Capitalism has caught itself in a rut and has destroyed the means by which it reversed its contradictions. As capitalism collapses into further crisis, class consciousness will return, and there will be nothing to beat it back down when it does.
Ethan Mitchell
What the left needs is to get organised, get radical and get well equipped. This isn't something that can happen on a national level now, the alt-right fascists are globally interlinked. Target-based, objective focus with fixed goals in mind.
Lincoln Thompson
Communism does not and never will work. Why? Because whether you realise it or not, you are the bourgeoisie. You are the ones who will have your personal property taken away by the actual poor and you are the ones who will destroy the country through attempting to implement your deluded fantasies. t. russian who has seen communism destroying countries
Hunter Green
Yes, in the sense they the idea that peddle reformism is really going to work as a long-term solution. After building class consciousness, debunking reformism is our next obstacle.
William Bennett
We own the means of production? *t. burger who just watched Dr. Zhvago
Landon Jenkins
that's news to me
Ryan Long
Yes, ownership of the means of productions is just a spook.
