I've heard that Bleach: Dark Souls game on the DS was a pretty decent fighter.

It's been downhill in quality since after the first couple of (canon) arcs if you ask me, and Mexican hell got dragged on for WAY too long (especially with the anime which suffered assloads of whole non canon filler seasons after the Soul Society arcs), but it's been a trainwreck in real slow motion that some people just wanted to see through to the end. At least the anime's OST stayed pretty damn good, up through the end of the Deicide arc (I didn't watch much after that), and some of the fights were actually animated pretty damn well. That, and just how ridiculous Aizen got with plans upon plans upon plans. Too bad he was fucking retarded during that final battle in Ichigo and didn't just hit him with Absolute Hypnosis the moment Ichigo caught his sword swing bare handed.

I think the best game would be Bleach: The 3rd Phantom. That one is a great game if you want a lot of content in the form of new dialogue, story retelling, and bankais. It plays like Final Fantasy tactics but essentially is almost like rock-paper-scissors, but that just determines how much dmg you do in a regular head-on fight if you don't use kido or specials. I really liked the story where you play as one of 2 twins and how they insert and bend them into the lore and then change it.

Only other game I could recommend is Soul Resurreccion on the PS3. It's pretty alright but the story is just the Hueco Mundo arc ending with the Aizen arc. Really short, but it has a lot of challenges and the gameplay is alright for a third person hack-and-slash

It is annoying though that for most characters you don't have a regular form -> bankai. When you power up it's just bankai -> glowing aura. The variety and immersion would of been appreciated.

Either Kubo had wanted to do something with her somewhere but the editors told him to get on with it (I'd swear there's some official, if non-canon art of her wearing a shihaksho or whatever those robes were called), or he kept forgetting about her aside from the occasional times Ichigo was back in town (I'm not sure I consider that Kurakuraiser omake canon). For a childhood friend character, she sure didn't get much in the way of action, let alone being in the core group.

I still remember her punching Ichigo into a window after he refused to tell her anything that had been going on.

The only alluring thing about this show are the swords/zanpakuto and their special powers, but the fight scenes are so short and few and far between that it's criminal. The lore could of been good but it's boring just like the Le Ichigo Sidekicks since apparently nothing important happens pre-Aizen.

the manga definitely has better pacing than the anime, it takes fucking hours to get anywhere while watching with all the padding

It didn't help that we get introduced to 100 characters at once and have 10+ plot lines going on at the same time.

The early parts are pretty decent if you ask me, but it should have ended at Soul Society. Granted, even some of the fights afterward were pretty neat (and I've got a bit of a softspot for the "Turn Back the Pendulum" flashback arc), but overall it went south to the point the most value it's had for years was viewing the slow motion trainwreck with other anons and bantering about it/speculating on what shit Kubo would pull next.

The OSTs are pretty good throughout the anime (embed related), though if you do opt to watch the anime, be warned. There is a fuck ton of filler, though in retrospect a lot of it is outright kept to entire seasons you can opt to avoid and wouldn't miss a damn thing (barring the three mod souls the anime shoehorned in, as they treated the bount arc as canon to the anime.

Yeah, some of the Zanpaktou abilities were pretty creative, at least beyond the standard elemental ones. Stuff like Wabisuke doubling the weight of anything cut by it

The thing I had the bigger issue with was an entire army of Quincies living in the shadows of Soul Society and no one noticing for millenia (especially after the series made such a big deal that Ryuken and Uryu were the last of them) and them being on average much stronger than the thirteen court guard squads, and even the Zero Squad. And then on top of all that is their boss who blessed them with such power to begin with.

Oh well, at least the series has been decent for the OC and panel edits it spawned (none of this is NSFW, just spoilered for potential spoilers if anyone actually still feels a need to read through this trainwreck).

I honestly enjoyed the ride up until Soul Society. There seemed like enough momentum there, but then it just got weighed down by too many asspulls for me to be invested in

m8 I wasn't laughing over a shipping war, just the blatant 'never intended' asspull. If Kubo flat-out admitted he'd intended feelings and motivation but then resolved in the writing somehow for Orihime, then that'd be better, but now he's back to hitting asspull levels that shouldn't even exist.

Honestly, I'd rather hook up two interesting characters than just one and a cliche armrest. Not to say Ichigo was interesting, but he hit all the mandatory "cliche but i can enjoy this" notes. Orihime was just there, unless her character & relationship with him went through a major revolution at some point after I stopped watching

It feels pretty good only liking series that haven't been nursed along for preteen bucks for a decade and a half.

the massive cast makes sense when you think of it in terms of that. they all exist to present a new challenge for ichigo and make him stronger during the fight. even the hollows follow this, combining together to make even bigger badder hollows which ichigo has to wank himself into beating.

Bleach hasn't been good since the soul society arc. Hueco Mundo was shit, has one good fight, and dragged on forever.

Well, I certainly suppose the Aizen reveal might as well be on par with say, Aeris dying in FFVII now, at the time it seemed pretty surprising. But I suppose that was years and years back, pacing being a major fucking issue for Bleach, even more so with the anime resorting to multiple seasons of non-canon filler.

As for cast bloat, at least the hollows had the decency to die off pretty quick, and some Arrancar did as well, though a number of them did stick it out, sometimes for a lot longer than was every wanted. But with the Shinigami and the Vizards, they tended to just stick around in the plot, serve little purpose than the pad out the series before jobbing to something, and even then survived pretty much anything. Up until the finale of Deicide, the phrase "Nobody dies in the Bleach" was pretty accurate as far as the good guys went. I'll give the Blood War arc credit in at least capping some of them, though it just added further cast bloat with the Sternritters.

Yes, Tatsuki was build up so much. She was a monster at fighting, knew Ichigo the best of the cast, had some psychic ability or whatever it was called, hell, it was even hinted she was the one Ichigo had a crush on. The winged eagles chapter you mentioned was the decisive step to giving her a role, but evidently, new characters were only allowed to be ex fucking nihilo.

The best thing about Tatsuki online is a fucking hooters deviantart doujin, and it is infuriating.

Premise of image two was some risk game Kyarako (or however it was spelled was playing with Starrk) in that each person's strike would only damage the color called. Cue the captain tossing that outer white coat in the air, calling black, and doing a full body slash's worth of damage to Starrk's hollow hole somehow and killing him. The image is edited to have Tousen getting the shit sliced out of him because somehow there's a nig wearing a noose-like scarf in the Japanese afterlife.

Image 4 might have been a poor translation or user edit job, I think he was trying to call Ywach a black ant. Hard to tell when there's scanlators like Mangastream that had a tendency to ghettoize stuff.

There was no real reason for a mangaka, with a bibliography one failed series long, who's only aiming to crank out action shounen nonsense anyway, to turn down that paycheck and try to start up something new.

Shame it always has to happen though. Sometimes you only really ever appreciate something when it puts it foot down and ends, instead of it being like the big trio of Naruto/Bleach/One Piece where whatever enjoyment was there is nonexistent because it took forever with no end in sight.

The whole fucking issue with her in combat is that all she can do is make barriers and heal, because she never seems to actually want to try to fight with that one fairy that has an offensive use. Didn't Tsubaki die twice or something because she refused to attack?

Oh hell, there's another thing that stopped making much of an appearance after a while: her Shun Shun Rikka spirits, or whatever the actual name was. Used to be that they'd have personalities, and actually say a little something when summoned, but after a while, they just went silent and she might as well have just been summoning triangles and ovals for all the personality they had.

Hence the shit with Ichigo gaining better control of his hollow side and then Quincy power shit in the Blood War arc instead, since he already knew how to use Bankai after Soul Society. Only real difference there is how long he could be in it, considering that the first time he used it in straight up combat it wrecked his body, and by Deicide he's in that form for seemingly days on end.

At least with some of the lieutenants they could still learn Bankai as a natural progression, though some had known they needed to keep training with it before using it in actual combat (Ikkaku) so it would actually be useful, rather than whipping it out the first chance after learning it and getting wrecked (Renji).
