eems completely upstanding to open up corruption investigation on his political opponents, judges, county supervisors and staff, reporters, and others who stood against him, right? Investigations so ridiculous that the grand jury told him to stop because there was no evidence whatsoever. Lost every single case. The county attorney that he was doing the scam with got disbarred over it due to the malicious and unfounded charges. The ensuing lawsuits cost Maricopa County over $45 million to settle.
That time he also launched a bullshit investigation with a PI of a federal judge he didn't like and the DOJ was hilarious.
Add to that the $100 million or so of sheriff's office funds that he spent illegally.
Lost plenty of lawsuits for racial profiling.
And let's not forget that time he framed some 18 yr. old kid in a supposed assassination attempt on himself in a publicity stunt for his reelection. That case got settled for a cool $1.6 million. Quite a bargain.
Maybe it was his agency that left most of their reported rapes and sex crimes completely uninvestigayd yet reported them as cleared to juke his crime stats.
Of course there's also the recent contempt of court conviction for blatantly refusing to follow a federal court order because he was continuing to detain people in jail when they had no criminal charges or detainers. Small constitutional problem with that, I'm told.
He's as corrupt and self-serving as elected officials come. A fine candidate for a presidential appointment in DC. He'd fit right in.
Of course, he wasn't stupid, and was able to make himself sound TOUGH ON IMMIGRATION and TOUGH ON CRIME.
Meanwhile he never gave a shit about illegals, never investigayd crimes they committed because they'd just run away to Mexico or another state and couldn't be asset forfeitured, and he never signed tax stamps for lawful purchasers of machine guns, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, AOWs, or suppressors. If you wanted to own NFA in his county, you had to go through a trust.
