How can we synthesize the rural American free spirit with revolutionary communism?

They're very compatible.

Compare it with the revolutionary ideals of the founding fathers. You'll have to wait until the boomers die off though since they're too spooked.

The founding fathers were classical liberals. Their ideas aren't compatible with communism

we can pretend

Exhibit the same ethos and pathos that Jack London did in his novels and essays.

They were revolutionaries at the time

It's the same principle though: they took up arms to break free from their oppressors and pursue their own destiny

this
fake it till you make it.
Liberals will buy it.

And not only that, but Socialist thought would of not happen if Classical Liberalism didn't happen. See Jean-Jacques Rousseau

wew hew

hating boomers is a spook tbh

Don't call it communism. Just explain to them what it is instead.

Literally written as a Communist anthem.

Like 90% of Hillbilly Folk songs are outright Communist songs. Srsly.

Educate them about their roots. Teach them where the term "redneck" came from.

kill the tankies tbh

Establish killing fields in the midwest for all the corrupt politicians

Okay guys, hear me out. What if…

What if…

actually reactionary socialism?

Like it has always been.

this would actually help a lot, not even memeing rn

That filter actually drove the point home better, thanks a lot Coldsquares!

this phrase always seems far too paternalistic to me. I educated myself. The resources are there. Better to come independently to socialism.

Also cool the genocidal purging talk and make it about freedom, fulfilment and brotherhood instead. Since, y'know, that is what socialism is about.

Also, despite being an atheist myself, there are good Christian socialist arguments.

Perhaps a better way of putting is demonstrate an alternative, lead by example, etc.

Despite socialist roots, sadly the majority of these people nowadays think anything socialist leads to a Red Dawn scenario.

A successful Left movement in America will be anarchist.

literally this. Rural Americans value close knit communities. Emphasize the benefits of working class cooperatives (without calling them that) and you're about 50% of the way there.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_coal_wars

they weren't always reactionary, the term "redneck" comes from the red bandannas worn by union workers

I thought it came from the sunburn at the back of the neck of farm workers.

What is this, Holla Forums?

Eurocentrism is a meme. Everything of worth philosophically came from Europe so not being Eurocentric = being a dishonest liberal

They're already halfway there and they'd be socialist if we called it "freedomism" or something

give em free gunz

rural americans hate socialists because they think that they will take their gunz

You don't, and they're not. An ideology of communalism, localism and muh heritage doesn't meld well with communist internationalism. Bookchin knew.

For most Americans it's less about policy specifics, but the ideals of freedom and justice

Socialism and communisn are European concepts

Sell them all the pieces, but don't tell them what it is. Try to let as much as possible happen organically, like the famously spontaneous Argentine syndicalists.

For an example close to home, think of the way "Obamacare" and "socialized medicine" were "unpopular" in polls, but each of the individual policy measures contained in them polled very strongly.

don't trigger me with reason and facts, my trotskyist circle jerk group wouldn't approve of this

At one time, the labor movement in the South was pretty strong. Then they pulled out some reactionary identity politics and divided the working class. If you can imbue racial insecurity in people, you can do a lot of damage.

Good, fuck that shit.

>>>Holla Forums

can you stop with the XDDD you Holla Forums ememmememe XDDDD

Present communism as protectionist and agrarian. As much as they claim to love the free market, they actually hate it. They would love government subsidy. What they fear about "communism" is that it will take away their farms. Convince them that socialism will enhance their farms and stop the collapse of their agrarian lifestyle, and they would get on board.

...

Make rednecks red again.

Land reform in the USA would be the most amazing political coup in history

MAKE RED STATES RED AGAIN

this. land is key. without food porky's system falls apart instantly. people have rebelled over land and crops since the dawn of agriculture

Stop being tankies start being anarchists

Kek

Is there a way anarchism can incorporate global white supremacy?

Honestly, I don't know if ending ag options would be popular among farmers, and I think subsidizing crop insurance could lead to a lot of fraud.

Consumers don't want corn and soy?

sincerely interested in hearing how this would be beneficial, please explain

everything else i totally agree with

Honestly, if a socialist candidate toured the South with this agenda they would win. The South's racial divisions would be meaningless in the face of material interest.

And this is going to sound sleazy, but you need good propaganda to turn the American South around. Socialism has to become as American as apple pie. The history of labor movements there means that's not entirely untrue, but they need a media blitzkrieg to remind them of that.

This is absolutely right. This is the platform that would win big in the South. The problem is you need a way to push it and faces to put on it. That requires money, lots of it, and non-armchair activists.

Crop insurance was already the dominant method of financial support before the financial industry stuck its nose into agriculture. Also, many large "elevator" coops like Sunkist began this way.

Not THAT much. Most corn and soy aren't used straight for corn on the cob or tofu, but instead so because they're so oversubsidized they're feedstocks for highly processed commodities like high-fructose corn syrup, soy lecithin, and ethanol biofuel, used as inefficient/subpar substitutes for more desirable products

On the domestic side, this means that valuable American labor and land are wasted growing dispensable cash crops, using valuable American tax dollars. On the foreign side, this results in the dumping of massively underpriced, massive quantities of American crops into the 3rd-world markets for vital staples, with devastating effects on 3rd-world agriculture.

ah, good stuff. thanks for explaining.

Sanders' campaign shows the crowd funding method can work for politics.

...

We could use a left-wing Trump. Somebody who's plain spoken, aggressive and repetitious. It would be a propaganda coup.

>We are losing. We're losing in wages. We're losing in employment. We are losing big time to the bankers and the fat cats and the special interests. Some people won't say it, folks, but it's a class war out there. They can't say that. But I'll say it. It's a class war. And we're losing it! But not much longer, folks. We are gonna win this class war. We're gonna win it big.

The capitalists aren't sending their best!

They're bringing poverty.
They're bringing pollution.
They're parasites.

They've proven themselves to be before and they will again.

Local municipalization of services and production as much as possible without infringing on their personal property, and direct participatory democracy to control the municipality. Members of the community should essentially act as a board of directors telling the local government what to do.
Don't call it socialism and be very patriotic about it.

There's a movement all across the country right now of people working with local governments to form community owned land trusts
