Cute Girls

I have a mighty need to play some RPGs where I have the option to play as a cute girl. I've been playing Star Ocean The Second Story on PS1 as Rena since that fills my fantasy of being a support/healer girl in a party somewhat, but I'd like to get more games for that.

in Dragon's Dogma you can play as a loli

I wanna fuck that sheep

What you're looking for is called Atelier.

If they want to get bored to death, sure.

Yume Nikki and its fangames.
It's made in an engine for RPGs
:^)

You mean as the actual main character, or just as party members?

A lot of the Atelier series have the lead characters as girls (there's exceptions of course, and E&L is dual protag). Wild Arms 3 is also really good and Virginina's a pretty enjoyable protagonist (also one of those rare JRPGs, at least for T rated and up ones, that don't really have any sort of romance element to the plot, despite the rest of her team being male); her Mystic ability also leaves her in a decent spot for providing support in combat through items (Mystic applies item effects to all party members or all enemies of a particular type, for a cost of 25 Force).

In Avalon Code you can either make Yumil or Tia the main character.

Admittedly Atelier isn't for everyone (the time management factor seems to be a bit of a make it or break it factor for some), but it does have a fair amount of anons here that like it.

These games are a good recommendation.

There's also Dragon Quest 3 and 4 which are both good games. Labyrinth of Touhou 2 if you want a dungeon crawler and Touhou The Genius of Sappheiros: Weekend, which plays like Romancing Saga.

...

Just go play some hentai games

Neptunia.

Hey, you didn't say the game had to be good.

The time factor is the worst part. I can't fool around with whatever or risk missing out on something important, and that even extends to the dlc characters. Maybe my mistake was playing Meruru, god that cast sucked.

That llama is cute

He wants to play an RPG as a cute girl.
Atelier is a good answer. It might not be your cup of tea, but it might be his.

I know, and I'm just saying if he does he shouldn't start with Meruru, partially because it's the end of a saga or whatever and she's not that great.

Wild Arms 3 looks interesting, noticed it's on PS4 too which is a lot cheaper than getting a PS2 copy. If there's any big changes though I'll just go for the original.

I really enjoyed Rorona Plus and Totori but Meruru does feel really weak cast wise, also fuck turning Rorona into a loli, I wanted hot master alchemist Rorona.

What is it with Japs and pairing their ladies with ugly creatures? The amount of shit they produce with a really fat dude or pigfaced orc is unacceptable.
sage for offtopic
>implying this thread won't be derailed in three posts

I got it. Nights of Azure.

Master Alchemist Rorona would've been someone worth enduring the game for, but at least I heard Astral Blader.

Star Ocean, huh? Well, you'd definitely like the Tales games. The first Tales game was made by the Star Ocean people, in fact.
The battle systems are real-time action RPGs and you control one character while the rest is AI-controlled - just like in Star Ocean.

Each title in the series has its own special gimmick added to the battle system that makes it unique. Also, there's a series of 2D-based titles and 3D-based titles when it comes to movement.

Normally you can pick whoever you want to be your main controlled character out of battle, and some games give you the option to switch mid-battle (like in SO).

The list, and the potential characters that may interest you that you can control. Listing recommendations, and only games with English translations available… In chronological release order so you can go from the oldest game to the newest:

Mint is the party's healer. Can't attack shit aside from an useless whack with her staff but she has some support spells to help.
Arche is the black mage. Quite an unique character for a Tales game since she can freely fly with her broom in the battlefield (and you can't make her land).
Suzu is a loli ninja. She's the only other character aside from the protag (and the archer Chester) that has good physical combat abilities.

Farah is the game's second party member. Physical fighter with some healing/support skills.
Meredy is one of the mages. In this game the magic is defined by equipping stuff so you can make her a full healer, a full attacker, or a mix of both. She's a loli from another planet with a pet that can attack enemies.
Chat is pirate loli with weird as shit attacks, but broken as hell if you know how to use them.

First entry with 3D movement in battle.
Colette is the second party member. Uses chakram discs. Has some support magic but is mainly a physical fighter. Klutz.
Raine is an adult, and she's the main healer. Can't attack shit with her rod - it's useless.
Presea is a loli lumberjack with a huge axe. Physical fighter. No magic.

Very different from the rest, developed by Tekken staff. 2D plane combat but with 3D models.
Norma is a red mage with both attack and support magic. Wields possibly the weirdest weapon yet… A bubble straw. She can blow the bubbles while in mid air to 'hover' above enemies.
Shirley (available after the main chapter) has some magic to use.

Anise best girl rides on a magical puppet thing that beats the shit out of enemies. Wields both dark and light magic (offensive type). Can heal (only self) and resurrect with the right item equipped. Has support skills.
The other two girls, Tear and Natalia are both healers. Former is a rod magic user, latter an archer with healing magic. Support skills too.

Rita is the black mage. 'nuff said
Estelle is a magic knight type. Sword, healing spells.
Patty (ps3 only) is a pirate loli (think Chat) with a casino gambler battle style. Techs and magic rely on chance and can help you, or fuck you up. Hilariously awesome game-breaking possibilities. Attacks, heals, special effects, her roulette has it all.

Beryl is the black mage. Attacks with a brush.
Kohak(u) is a monk type with healing spells.

Sophie is a loli fighter with healing spells.
Cheria is the main healing mage. Uses knives in combat. Every character in Graces is ideal for physical combat, even if they're magic oriented, as this game is quite deep with its physical fighting system

Elize controls both dark and light element magic. She's the main healer, arguably, but can also support and attack the shit out of enemies with dark spells. Has 2 modes of combat, one emphasizing physical attacks, other with magic bonuses. Magic knight type of sorts also best girl
Leia is a martial arts fighter with healing spells.

That should cover you for the time being. The PSP version of Phantasia is being translated so you might wanna skip the PS1 one since the PSP game is much more refined. Start with Eternia or Symphonia.

...

I don't think there's any changes aside from maybe updated graphics and achievements the game never had on the PS2, but the PS2 versions shouldn't be too expensive anyhow; it's been the cheapest and most common in the series where I live at about $8-12 complete at a half decent shop.

Also, if you're wondering, all the Wild Arms games are more or less stand-alone, and from a story perspective can be played in any order (though WA5 being an anniversary title with a lot of cameo characters from past games, that one is best played after the prior ones). WA3 though has a number of callbacks to WA1, to the point I'd almost say it's an indirect sequel (Media.Vision's rather wishy washy on continuity; whether all the games are on the same planet/timeline, or all separate incarnations of Filgaia, so you might consider WA1 or ACF before it. Just a thought.

If you want other ideas, while only a few of the games are in English at this point, the Summon Night spinoffs we got here, Swordcraft Story, Swordcraft Story 2, and Twin Age, all let you choose between a male or female protagonist.

I was thinking of mentioning Tales myself, but I'm not sure if those are what OP's looking for, given that aside from Xillia (and the upcoming Berseria), none of the female characters are directly in the protagonist role.

I meant in the game's party directly. The devs do seem to have had some fun poking at Virginia x Maya. But with the rest of the party, there's none. Jet's practically asexual (though he doesn't seem to care about much at all, initially, though he has his reasons), Gallows is a pervert but fifteen year old Virginia's like nine years his junior, and Clive is already is already happily married and has a young daughter.

Well, OP didn't exactly mention it had to be protagonists. And since Star Ocean is so similar in combat to Tales (as they began both with Wolfteam) I find it recommendable.

Also, adding to the list - not a Tales game, but published by Bamco and developed by Tri-Crescendo (again having some relation with Star Ocean, since T-C is comprised of people from the sound team that worked with Tri-Ace on Star Ocean)
Action RPG, but with turns (each character and enemy moves freely during his/her own turn).
You control everyone since it's turn based, but it has optional co-op.
Party members include:
Polka, deuteragonist that attacks with a parasol. Healing and support magic along with some attacks.
Viola, archer. Also heals.
Salsa and March, elf-like lolis with devastating attacks and high speed. Attack oriented
Claves, knight with sword
Falsetto, monk type. Strong as hell
Serenade, princess with a huge staff and some attack/support skills

Oh, and as you can probably infer from the title and the names, this game is quite music-oriented… And one of your party members is motherfucking Chopin. Yep, that's right.
Quite an interesting and original title, and with some great music as well (it's also QUITE hard at points).
Bamco worked with the Chopin Society in Warsaw for fact-checking and research. It's a fantasy RPG story, but you also get to learn some about Chopin while listening to his compositions played by Stanislav Bunin.

I've always seen Eternal Sonata around and wanted to pick it up sometime.

It's nice man. Has cutscenes with irl pictures of chopin's home/town with his music in the background. Pretty chill game, combat system is unique.

There's not a whole lot of PS3 games (the non recent releases anyhow) that are all that expensive. I assume Eternal Sonata wouldn't be too hard to pick up at a decent price these days.

$8-12
Man I'm jealous of NTSC so much for older games, PAL stuff is stupidly overpriced these days. looking for Wild Arms 3 and it's in the $40 range

I recommend it. It's not too long for an RPG, but there are sidequests you can do, one of which is rather long and can net you an extra party member.
Expect to get your ass kicked a lot, though. It is challenging, especially at certain bosses of note…

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

They're not always ugly

Yeah, I have to say I feel sorry for PAL fans of various games/series, or of niche stuff in general. Delayed releases, outright lack of releases (Wild Arms 2 and ACF were never brought to PAL), and price hikes/lower availability. No one should have to wait 14 years for their region to officially receive Chrono Trigger.

I do hope you don't live in Australia though. Seen some photos of really atrocious prices on older vidya some stores there ask, and then there's the issue of the ratings board either giving stuff way too high a maturity rating, or outright refusal to rate a game (and thus it can't be legally sold there), like with Valkyrie Drive.

Magic Knight Rayearth

summon night sword craft story 1 and 2 (and 3 when they finally end translate it)

SCS3's getting there. From what I know of it they're currently on proofreading and graphics editing (for where there's cases of text that needs to be translated in an image file itself).

Current thread on it is here:

Summon Night Twin Age is shit

i know it, but have you ever played a rpg where you take 1 our for each dialog box, it tiresome man

I've played a bit myself. It seemed fairly different than the SCS games, but not exactly bad.

I don't see it brought up too much though compared to the GBA games, so I'm not really certain what other people think of it.

Do you like diablo?

Hold it right there Satan

you know they change the genre with each different sub-title right?

Yeah, I can see that. But I've wondered if maybe people might have expected more of the same when it came out here, given that the west had only seen SCS1 and 2 prior.

Kek

I do ;_;

I'm sure that at least some EU fans got Chrono games as imports or emulated them…

Australia is the worst. Their ratings are fucking absurd (Totori = high impact sexual violence), Valkyrie, MeiQ…

Oh, man. Sucks to be you.

Don't remind me that hotwheels is a cunt and the asshole in charge of the 4chan media player wont make an Holla Forums version.

I did buy a physical copy of Rorona Plus locally though just so I could have that sweet R18+ rating.

Yeesh. Please tell me Gametraders stopped doing this shit, or went out of business. I don't know why anyone, even hipsters, would put up with prices like these, higher minimum wage or not (or whatever it is that I've heard as an explanation in regards to roobucks).

Yeah, emulation's certainly an option (even here in the US that's what I do for stuff older than the PS1), in there's certainly locations where I'd say piracy is warranted between lack of effort to bring the game there in the first place, or completely bonkers pricing.

I'm not sure I could stand living in Australia and being into vidya.

I think GameTraders went out of business, haven't seen one in a couple years anyway. Even EB Games is looking like it might go that way. Every time I see one they look more and more barren which makes me happy since EB is garbage.

Would be nice if Gamestop out here would get smaller and we could see more of a resurgence of other game stores. I mean, we used to have not only Gamestop, but pre-merger (I think that's what happened) EB Games, Play'n'Trade, Game Crazy, and a variety of small independent shops (I sadly don't ever remember seeing a funcoland around where I live). Now it's just Gamestop's everywhere and a few independant stores in the towns where Gamestop isn't as prevalent (we had eight or so Gamestops in town here at one point and they drove pretty much every other game focused store out).

Anyhow, good luck on finding a cheap copy of WA3 if you ever do want an actual copy (I like having copies of games I enjoy where feasible, so I'm happy it's such a cheap game where I live as it's one of my favorites in the series). I assume some of those PSN rereleases have been a real boon to you guys out there.

Dragon's Dogma counts for this because you can play as pretty much any kind of human, including but not limited to cute girls.

Dragons Age Inquisition

Man the Wild Arms soundtrack is pretty sweet.

They all are, really; awesome music is something the series is known for (though the series has never been all that popular compared to other ones). While there's certainly a bit of a difference between Naruke's work in WA1, 2, 3, ACF, and part of 4 (she got sick early on), Agematsu and Kouda did a really good job with 4 and 5's soundtracks, especially 5 (to my knowledge they also did the music for XF, but I still need to play that one to be honest). And while the series doesn't exactly have a direct "theme song" (such as Dragon Quest's Overture), hearing a bit of WA1's "Into the Wilderness" show up in various later series tracks like "Flying in the Midst of the Storm" and "At the End of the Wilderness ver. Detonator" is a really fucking awesome way to do a callback.

On a related note, I was surprised (and happy) to find out that one of my favorite songs in SSBB," Bramble Blast," was a remix done by Naruke. She also did the mix of "Ocarina of Time Medley" in the game too.

loli's dogma: loli arisen

Come on, user.

It's good for thicc too, and I'd imagine it works for bara, twinks, shota, or pretty much anything that is human you can think of. I made some old characters but they are not for sexual

phantom brave definitely has some of the most unusual mechanics I've seen in a videogame.

and thats just the tip of what you can do. A shame the story is as bland as possible.

Its been harder to find this stuff since kat went down. Torrents I do find don't have as many seeds. Still working on it.

It still hurts to get kat.cr results in search engine.

if you dont mind getting your hands a little dirty and dont mind what might end up being a clashing aesthetic you could potentially replace character sprites and portraits with loli time in avernum/exile.
it may end up being a little daunting but dont worry recreating all the details like backpacks, staves, shields or even the sitting down sprites, they just arent important and are only for flavor which is the entire point of this anyways right? just repeat the same sprites over and over. heck, you dont even really have to worry about facing 4 isometric directions if you really wanna disregard the authorities. the original exile games just had left and right sprites.
if you choose to do this be aware that there are now remakes of the remakes and im not sure how well it would go over in those since they dont just use these simple sprites any more.
now, i tried it with avernum 1 and 2. the sprites work in one but i cant for the life of me figure out where the portraits are, but 2 works flawlessly.
heres an example of a sprite sheet youd be replacing, i had to change it to a png, it normally uses bmp. i dont really have any suggestions for sprites from another game to use.

essentially you would just be working with these frames and copy pasting a whole bunch, if you wanted to take a minimalist approach.
max party size is 4.

im sorry i forgot the damn image, or did hotwheels eat it? yeah thats what happened
