/cwg/ - Class War General #1

An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory. Everywhere in the world, every day of the year, class war is happening: people get evicted, strikes are fought, cops are sent, wages are modified, etc.
I've thought of setting up this general not to talk about theory and the greater picture, but rather to take a look and discuss about all these scenes that happen on this Earth. The goal is not to circlejerk about them, or to convert this into link posting central, but rather to examine why a particular action is bound to fail or succeed, why a particular action did fail or succeed, what were some similar earlier actions and their outcome, and ultimately how they fit in the grand scheme of Capitalism and its intricacies, as well as learning a lesson from every one of them.

What to post in here:
* Workers' strikes
* Evictions
* Modification to labour laws that are currently happening, i.e. pending approval from Parliaments. Posting theories about what party could pass which law based on wild electoral promises is sterile.
* The 6 W's: What, Where, When, Who, How, Why. Sometimes that information might be incomplete, or its report from journalists might be biased, in these cases we should try and get the information corrected
* Reliable sources to back claims. This means JPEG charts are not welcome unless properly sourced
* Who says what: what organisers have to say, Porky's damage control, local neighbours, etc.

What not to post in here:
* Routine Antifa LARPing demonstrations. Well, routine LARPing demonstrations in general. Hell, no LARPing at all.
* Yet another feminist blockade of conferences at colleges
* Protests from identitary movements
* Basically everything that is not class warfare
* Pure theory. If you want to post existential philosophy, make sure it's relevant to the topics being discussed.

Thanks for the info

wow that'll overthrow capitalism for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It'll certainly put a stop to these terrible threads you fuckers make.

nah it won't, Holla Forums

Three threads and counting my dude.

I'm in a [email protected]/* */ group with ~5 people, and just me and one other guy actually live near enough to organize something small.
What are things to do?

talk to your family, friends, workmates and anyone you can. get them involved in unions and show them the true nature of capitalism. talk in their language, don't use high handed marxist theory

look up Libcom for info. lots of good resources.

also apparently January 20 will see protests in the US. some are already calling for a general strike

What would the demands be, though? And who's calling for them?

I'm considering starting a discussion group for left-wing politics at my college.

Would I be better off starting a club for general leftism and moving it in a more socialist direction, or an explicitly socialist club and trying to attract social democrats and the like?

Or is this just a completely stupid problem altogether?

I'm not an expert at all in this, but my guess would be to observe and learn while you're in college. Chances are, no one is going to take you seriously while you haven't had a job yet, this is, while you're still not part of the Proletariat.
Political groups in college are likely to be full of insufferable wannabe revolutionaries while at the same time lacking anyone with experience in the field of leftist organization.

I have a full-time job m8

Leftist politics at the uni is preaching to the choir unless you're at a creationist school.

Make a full on marxist club, nobody is going to give a shit

Then go for it, I'd say, but you should probably aim at recruiting people from your workplace rather than from college. And in the even you'd want to do that, you should probably look for the union with the best recent record in winning strikes and not being a sectarian shithole (the two should be heavily correlated). That will probably work as a great attractor for yet-to-be-radicalised moderates.
If no unions exist in your area, try to create a section of one already existing elsewhere. Starting alone is very likely to fail.

China on Strike

I don't know what it's worth, but I sure want to give it a read. I'll try and buy it when I'm a bit better money-wise, which should be about next month.
Has anyone else got it? Other books on the same subject?

I honestly believe we should be doing social work.

As I said in the other thread, make little packages, a few sandwiches, generic paracetamol/ibuprofen, few cheap drinks and put in a few Socialist pamphlets and start handing them out to the homeless and poor. like $3-$4 a package. We should honestly do a go fund me fund raiser for anybody here who wants to hand them out, especially in Rust belt areas.

The point isn't to convert the homeless, its to build up good will in communities. Look at how the Starvation Army destroyed the IWW in several countries, through just basic charity and manipulating that good will.

"Reading groups" and shit don't mean crap until you have the good will of the working class.

Louisville here. Ready to offer blood, toil, tears, and sweat.

Yeah, I think this is also a great thing to support strikes and movements in general. With solidarity network, if people are guaranteed food and other services from fellow workers, they will have less fear of fighting against the Porky.

Great to hear that, Comrade.

Hartford County here, myself and around 5 others are ready to spread class-consciousness. We have about 300 sheets of newsprint and can make wheatpaste for posters, just tell us what to hang up and we can do it around our town.

I wish I had a higher resolution

Not that user but it would be a good idea to keep the information relatively simple. A basic description of who you are and what you want to do should be enough.
