Ask Game Freak

if those games are good why would anyone complain?

...

if you are from japen you can keep at it for about 30 years, weebshits are slow in the head

When did that ever happen?

Ask Capcom.

Define "same game". There's a big difference between the way Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 3 plays. People are actually more likely to complain when a sequel plays nothing like the game before it. We just want similar, but better. If you mean something like a HD remaster that just slaps some bloom on then I can see what you mean by "same game".

This. Especially when many Souls fans disliked DS2.

7 versions of Street Fighter 2 came to the arcade. There were only 4 versions of SF3 if you include the HD remix version. I think there were 5 versions of SF4 as well.
streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/Street_Fighter_II

You just complained so apparently five times.
I mean, no matter how good the game is someone out there hates it.

I wonder how that happens, like sometimes you get devs like the Animal Crossing who were shat on for releasing the exact same game up until the Wii, but even fucking that up

Ask Paper Mario fans.
oh wait

That's not the real question, it's how long can you make the same game with people still willing to pay money for it.

As many times as there are events in history

Ask Nintendo

wew

Ask Rockstar Games.

As you can see, nobody in this thread can give you a proper answer.

Why? Because d*souls' are an overrated piece of garbage and From Software are the Kings of Hacks.

Pic related, an actual fucking RPG that invented/standardized a bunch of gameplay techniques that are norm nowadays.

It doesn't have to be good if it's famous. People will praise arma regardless. 75% of people who cum over this game have probably never even played it, or saw it on youtube.

Like LOTR is a masterpiece when it's just a whacky yet pretentious fantasy book.

Like the Beatles are great legends when musically speaking they're below One Direction.

They came out at the right time and the generation at the time idealized them.

And as decades passed, they got a reputation of being "revolutionary" while in fact they are artistically equivalent to modern day garbage.

"Contrarian" is just a term people use when they're being challenged on arguments that to them must be untouchable. It's a neologism that's as cancerous as it gets.

It's anti-intellectual by definition, because it negates any possibility of discussion without being ad hominem'd by the masses.

I agree.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

Yes

...

Lords of the Fallen played like a Souls game, but it didn't give me the Soulslike experience I was truly craving.

Dark Souls is the CoD of dungeon crawler games. Linear levels and almost scripted enemies. Even skyrim does world design better. Of course they can sell the same game over and over again, the same fags will buy it, and they won't buy it if it deviates too much from the shitty tradition it built. Just look at CoD Infinite Warfare.

What the fuck, is this a thing now?

Koopas are hot and more exposure means more porn, so fuck you.

I want to spread that asshole apart and just bury my face in it.

Not counting expansion pack type games, 4.
Rightfully disliked though

Zero. People were crying on Holla Forums before DS1 even released.

Nintendo have been at it for a good few decades.

Honestly, are the other Souls games any good? Holla Forums hypes Bloodborne as if it's the "only good PS4 exclusive", but it is -way- too grindy for me. I mean, it's one thing to be difficult. I don't mind the difficulty. Low level enemies can kill you if you fuck up. That's fine. But having to go through the same level 5-10 times depending on how long it takes you to kill the boss?
Especially if you need to stock up on potions (forget what they're called) in between runs. It's just way too grindy.

I have no words for this nonsense.

My roommate has that game and made me play it recently. I got tired of it after like an hour.
I was just like, "I have zero reason to give a shit about what's going on in this game, and there's a million and a half other games that exist I could be playing instead."
It looked nice, I guess, but I'm just not autistic enough to find it fun.

It's a shame because the environments / story look really good, but, like you, I'd much rather be playing other games that are more easily accessible.

Even Disgaea has more entertaining grinding.

Why do millennials complain about non-issues all the time? Don't they realize it makes them sound like whiny women?

When the series changes abruptly, it's devs not listening to the base. When it doesn't, it's stagnating and so on.

It's not about entitlement or not buying the games that aren't for you, even though that's not completely wrong. It's about being in charge of your bipolar uterus and find the strength not to whine about everything you see, with delusions of being a critic.

Why do niggers keep misusing "millennial"?

I wish I could play God Hand for the first time again.
Now that was a fucking trip.

Does it "trigger" you, millenial?

Not as egregious as Capcom's SF, but Squenix's Final Fantasy has something like 7 or more different ports across generations or something.

You're replying to bait, of course. The first one you're replying to even made sure to use "Reddit-spacing" as some anons have complained before.

If you like old dungeon crawlers where the point is to explore the world and to learn the ropes and survive in the world by yourself, then you love Souls games. If you want a God of War/Ninja Gaiden-esque action game or hack'n'slash game, you have to look elsewhere.

Souls games are not as hard as casuals keep saying. As long as you just have any common sense and play carefully without rushing things, you can play through most of the game without dying once. The appeal comes from the fact you can solve pretty much any situation and defeat most bosses without truly minmaxing everything, you can figure out your own optimal way of doing things. This goes true with every Souls game.

For example the notorious Ornstein and Smough, friend of mine farmed tons of Dung Pies, threw them at the two bosses and literally killed the arguably hardest Souls-boss by drowning them in poisonous shit.

So you don't know what it means then.

if anything, you're the millenial here m8
There are plenty of other examples, but there are THREE (3) classic FPS series that changed considerably between iterations. Innovation was the norm back then.
Now? Now people are alright with playing the exact same game several times over with a slightly altered storyline. The difference between all of those games listed is jaw dropping compared to what we get now.
Not that ALL GAMES NEED TO BE DIFFERENT!!! I don't mind playing the same game with better graphics and better controls now and then, but complaining about people complaining about the market stagnating is really fucking retarded.

they're not necessarily hard, just really annoying to grind through every time you lose to the boss because you're shit

Twice.

Then, Dark Souls 2 happened

yeah, the punishment for fuckups is ridiculously large, and they went flat out retarded with that in DS3

basically all chests in the first bloody area are mimics ffs

it's as if the entire boardroom was drunk and high while designing the levels

Are they the miniboss with special loot kind, or the kind that's just there to piss you off kind?

Once apparently, since all the sequels suck shit and receive an adequate amount of hate.

You didn't think this through, did you?

About 4 times

Don't I wish.

There's a big reason the Souls games are so popular and that is because are one of the only series in modern gaming that satisfy the male urge to conquer

Because most RPGs like Skyrim are about fetch quests and progressing in a story, but the Souls games have only one objective: Kill every fucking disgusting abomination in this world, and thereby conquer the world.

The whole 'git good' meme is a reflection of this. The games have a certain mastery to them using consistent mechanics. The combat is a logical system to understand. Which is another thing males gravitate towards.

I can't think of any other game on current consoles that scratches that itch like the Souls series.

What about sport games? I almost never hear about people complaining about those.
Then again, I also almost never see people playing them, because normalfags.

What i don't understand is how they don't learn from their mistakes.

The Hubris is strong with these japs. They need to be nuked again.

I do hope From's next thing is something new. I think they have a lot of talent, and the Souls games have brought them into the spotlight. If they can break out of their comfort zone and make a thing that great fresh they'll be a really revered studio.

We should probably nuke them a couple times a year. Make it a holiday or something.

People just want to run around with a sword and kill a variety of different interesting monsters with a variety of different interesting weapons while wearing a variety of different interesting armour in a variety of different interesting places.

Exactly.

This is right though. You see, in Dark Souls, enemies are placed behind walls or doors to surprise you. This scripted sequence shit gets extremely tired instead of challenging after a few replays. At least you don't die as often in CoD. Extremely lame.

In legit dungeon crawler games such as King's Field, Severance, TES 1-2, Ultima Underground, and Grimrock, the enemy placement feels natural and the challenge comes from not expecting enemies' and items' position. Dark Souls' challenge only comes from the simon sez combat.

That's pretty much the reason why Terraria got popular too.

How does it feel to be so wrong?

Ask ZUN

i want a remake of this, but everyone just want their hack and slash games like dark souls

Let's be honest, UT3 was objectively worse than UT2004. The only good change I remember from it were the hoverboards, but even then I have mixed feelings about them because, while it was neat, I feel like they're kind of a shitty stopgap between an actual vehicle and just hoofing it.

Nigga 99% of games are about a one army man dude killing everything on his own, even on the shitty fetch quest simulators that fags here call rpgs

Meme souls is only popular because its an easy fuck game that makes casuls pat themselves in the back feeling like they are the special super hardcore gaming elite.

The combat mechanic's perfect, but spamming combos suck. Some of the enemies are impossible to kill without combos. If only there was a mod to remove combo from the game entirely.

They would fuck it up. Dork Souls ripped off that game so much that they would just make a generic clone of it and ruin everything that makes it way better than Dork Souls

Only thing that sucks in that game is the real final boss, its like they thought nobody would get the real ending and didnt even try. Even the graphics are still good.

Forever.
Either make it like the Western Devs squeezing the same shit every year, or do it like the Japs squeezing the same shit every some years. As long as the first game was as success, you can be sure there will be some people buying it forever, either the old userbase or a new one, depending on which tactic you use, the jap or the western one.

Who owns Severance and why the fuck haven't they capitalized on the popularity of Souls by making a new one!?

what?

You've just tried to make an argument against conscious enemy placement. Unbelievable.

And what's more likely to be "natural"? Enemies completely out in the open or them trying to ambush you?

I don't know, make the level design feel less like a theme park? Make the dungeon feels like an actual dungeon crawler dungeon, with forkings and many rooms? Make the levels look like pics related? Shit, just play King's Field or Shadow Tower, bitch. There's no such thing as "triggering enemies to jump at you when you walk into a certain point".

No, what they had was "triggering enemies to drop from a hole in the ceiling when you walk to a certain point" because that's what they had the technology to do.

Souls has plenty of that.

King's Field and your examples only really look intricate because they're entirely one-dimensional and have no verticality.

...

No they don't. They're too linear for that purpose, and the amount of dungeons are too few.

Not plenty.

Daggerfall has verticality, and it's complicated as fuck.

Too linear to have forking paths and many rooms? Nothing about linearity goes against those two things, unless you only played Dark Souls II and III or something.

Does it need to have stone walls and torches to be a dungeon to you? King's Field III was mostly open fields and caves, doesn't negate that it's a dungeon crawler.

Why'd you reply to the same post and the same quote twice?

Well, it's great if technology forced them to focus on simplicity and substance over vain wonders. Just like how games in the past didn't rely much on cinematic sequences, but on actual substance instead.

The fact that I could remember every single room and path in Dark Souls very easily due to the linear design make the exploration feels less adventurous. It's not wrong for me to assume that there are too few rooms and paths in Dark Souls.

No. It needs to be simple, maze-like open ended pathfinding, and make the placement of items, locations, and enemy unexpected.

...

not very long, but on the other hand once you already have a fan base you can keep going well past 10 years and ignore the h8rs

Bullshit. Lords of the Fallen has some glaring issues, most of which is shit boss fights(on par with DS2) and shield bash being stupidly broken, heavy weaponry being a deathtrap if you don't abuse how fast the running attack that knocks back and deals shittons of damage comes out, guantlet being useless shit that just takes up space in your "switch one/two handed" button and lighter weapons feeling like they don't have any weight behind them inspite of lots of times being incredibly strong.

actually if they released the same game it would be great but they actually released progressively shiter versions of the same game

People who played Demon Souls disliked darksouls, who hated the PC port, and people that played dark souls hated DS2, who in-turn hate DS3 and/or bloodborne. There have ALWAYS been complaints.

they only time they got it right was bloodborne. you are right that i loved demon souls and didnt like dark souls all that much

i like all of them and dark souls 1 has the best plot and characters and 2 is the best mechanically
3 is the worst of the group but none of them are genuinely bad games

Because the game is abandoware.
GoG tried to sell it and it got taken down cause of Abandoware as well, the only way to play this was through kickass torrents, now it's gone forever.

At least I have a physcal copy here in Spain.

You can complete the game without specials nigger, what the fuck are you talking about?
And there are a lot of mods even.

Yes if you pick up all the runes you can go into the secret final stage with its final boss.

Dark Souls 3 is a downgrade even from 2. Say whatever you want about Dark Souls 2, it only improved on the gamefeel, while 3 felt like a completely different game that did not feel like Dark Souls at all.

cool pasta

Is that a stain on her crotch?

You can remember it because it had unique level design instead of being samey throughout. What you want is a randomly generated, samey, rogue-like, action game. You're criticizing Dank Memes for not not being more like a different genre of game.

What is this casual shit?

I'll give you that though, vials are annoying early game and should have just been a refillable item that you could restock on every time you respawned with an added bonus of being able to refill them from enemies on the go. Same goes for silver bullets, but I never ran out of those anyways.

I'm not sure why you're comparing Dark Souls to a dungeon crawler. They're nothing alike mechanics wise. And you can certainly play Dark Souls like it's Ninja Gaiden. You can't grind in that game and can kill anything with a wooden sword.

There are many reasons I like the game. But it being challenging at times is a huge factor.

This. I don't even need a story to do that.

I liked all of them even though 2 was a disaster. It did some things right though. Using two massive dwarf axes at the same time was the coolest shit.

No clue, BB has plenty of issues, but saying "it's grindy in the main game" isn't one of them. Now if they were referring to chalice dungeons on the other hand

My god chalice dungeons were a mistake. They could have used those resources to build one or two whole new areas and just put the chalice bosses in there. So much wasted potential.

the chalice bosses sucked too

Ah yes. Lords of the running shield bash. Once I figured that out, there was no point in doing anything else in the game.

I also like pasta.

From Software peaked with King's Field II (a masterpiece, I may add).

It's been 'ok' since

severance aint hard to find tho
igg-games.com/severance-blade-of-darkness-free-download.html

Played Demons Souls first. Was putoff by the Dark Souls changes at first but grew to love it. Got bored of DS2 but liked SOTFS, liked DS3, playing through Bloodborne for the first time atm. Come at me bro.
