Missingno is not a valid pokemon you dumb shit, it's literally garbage in computer data sense; this is the way the game attempts to fallback gracefully (i.e. without crashing) when it encounters data that's clearly corrupted. Don't know why the damn thing is not ignored altogether, but it was in gen 1, in this day and age you'd simply see "corrupted data" label instead.

You're not incorrect, but there's one thing you're missing. Missingno is actually a valid index number, it just so happens that there's not a Pokemon there. In Gen 2, almost every spot was filled with a real Pokemon, so many Missingno and other glitch Pokemon looked like real Pokemon to Gen 2 games. Most Missningo are actually fairly stable, it's the other glitch Pokemon like M and worse that you have to worry about.

It's not a valid index number if it's not in the database of valid index numbers. Further, the way you obtain it is through forcing the game to generate pokemon data structure from garbage data that ends up where game takes pokemon values from because of abusing glitches that write to reused memory locations but never clean up, thereby leaving there garbage.

Missningnos stop at 184 (181 if you don't count the fossil or ghost ones), the last valid Pokemon is 190, and after that all glitch Pokemon are pretty messed up, more so than Missingno. What's the deal there?

I assume the index number is simply used as a data pointer in database lookup operation. Most entries contain data, "early" missingno have halfway meaningful data, the "late" ones are data outside of actual database and thus are complete garbage in computer data sense, that is not even remotely meaningful, might as well be completely random.

Colosseum and XD are my favorite Pokemon games of all times, and knowing the team behind THOSE SAME GAMES are working on these, gives me a fuckload of hope that Sun/Moon will be the best games since Heartgold/Soulsilver.

You might not want to get so excited, I think Genius Sonority isn't working on it. If you can pirate 3DS games though, I recommend the Denpa Men trillogy. You catch random little mans generated by wifi signals and RPG with them. I recommend playing them in order so you get to see the progression from simple dungeon crawler to a modern-ish RPG with micro-transactions. It's like a microcosm of the game industry, for better or worse. It also has pretty good music, this is one of my favorite tunes.

It's a shame Denpa Men is in F2P hell, but at least with Freeshop or CIAngel you can actually download that free game on a non-Jap 3DS. It's been about 20 years, Jovi is all grown up now, helping Michael, along with you, Vivian with your fathers research. The news starts and you find out the underground has been re-established, with grunts forming and entirely new crew. More and more places have been made, and people from ANOTHER region are being terrorized by a new group, and an existing one.
You get to visit an entirely new region, while exploring the old monuments from the last games.

I'm haven't fully realized the plot, but I do know the team antagonists.
Four teams.
Zetta
Maxima
Cipher
Snagem

Zetta would be inspired by the underground Mexican cartels, burglary masks, (guns?) and everything.
Adding something to make them more advanced than what snagem was. The leader of Zetta, looking like the short mexican guy named 'El Chapo', the leader re-igniting the flame of what the original Cipher was in Colosseum, a legitimate threat to the entire Pokemon world.

Maxima would be inspired by rich goons and snobs, think of someone like that Milo grunt and Trump. Team Maxima would want to END Zetta, but only to take over in the Shadow Pokemon business, banning everyone else but them from using it. They own the Pokemon Centers, and at one point of the game, prevent you from using it to make sure they have a definitive victory.

Then Cipher, having Ardo's take over from the last game, with another Cipher company shareholder inspired by Hillary, it would basically be a similar ark to what XD had with Verich actually being Greevil and such, you know, the switcharoo kind of thing. I'm unsure what Neo-Cipher's relationship would have with Zetta, but I imagine it being extremely uneasy.
Cipher also has their own city, similar to the third picture and Cipher Key Lair, where they make thousands upon thousands of shadow pokemon.

Team Snagem would actually be more of a villian turned comedic, then good, how the last game, XD, led on. In the later half of the game, they would being helping Vivian and the rest of your family build a stronger Snatcher, to catch more and more stronger pokemon.

Anyway, in this game, some weaker Pokemon are willing to Undergo the shadow treatment to make themselves stronger, which leads to a LOT of heartbreak. Sometimes though, some Pokemon are forced.
There's a cutscene in Cipher City, involving a dying cubone and a mourning trainer having a mental breakdown, screaming and crying, shaking violently and damning himself for not knowing his precious Pokemon felt lesser than others and JUST wanted to be stronger
There's another cutscene where either a Kangaskhan or a Darmanitan start attacking people in the factory in a frantic rage after seeing their children being tortured and experimented on
They are shot down and killed, having their offspring witness their death in front of them

The reason I'm making them all villainous, is due to the fact that people would make connections and if you side with either of them, it would be a PR nightmare. So I'll be taking a centrist route with this, or something like that, basically, you're the good guy, and the rest are all villains.
That would mean that Vivian would become a Nintendo Property if her creator allowed it, and some people wouldn't like that.

Wow, you managed to make my idea less autistic just from typing that. Mine is also set in Orre and has a relation with shadow Pokemon, but I decided to take it in a bit of a different direction.

In the intervening years, the League has attempted to set up shop in Orre, despite the region not being at all ready for it. It has been met with resistance, both mild, organized, and criminal. It doesn't help that the League director in charge of this region is as corrupt as many of the criminals in the area.

There are two versions that branch out from here, Rocket and League.

In the Rocket version, you're either a rebel member or custom character who got Shanghaied by James (in a reference to Yellow version) into helping him, a qt who likes Pokemon WAY too much, and a lazy scout into bringing Rocket to glory and bringing peace through tyranny or uniting the people within their nation or whatever yakuza do. The League version has you as a veteran trainer or custom character trying to bring stability to the region by taking down Cipher, Snagem, and any other group that stands in the way of the League's development and the region's safety. It probably has another cast of colorful characters, didn't think of any yet.

Anyway, both have a similar gameplay mechanics wise, but the level and mission design make them much different. Both are third person action games that are so generic these days, with the addition of having semi-AI controlled Pokemon with a multitude of abilities. Rocket version is more inspired by the later MGS games, where you can stealth your way through and sometimes go Rambo. League version is more inspired by SWAT 4 with actual tactical procedure you should be doing.

Plot wise, probably something about Cipher and Shadow Hoopa XD003 (implications that Shadow Mewtwo might have been related to one of their plots) gating in legendaries, and the regional Director being a huge jerk.

Some esoteric plot bits are Jessie double crossing everyone, implications that Interpol might be some cult who's trying to discover things about legendaries, and an implication that if a human closes their heart they become a true Monster.

Naturally this will never happen even in the slightest.

To be fair, Ninetales already literally had her time in the sun in Gen V. She was overshadowed by Politoed, who no one but the creator of the series actually likes.

And Persian (presuming Alola Meowth will get that evolution) was good in Gen 1. But Ninetales got overshadowed by Zard Y, and Persian got overshadowed by a crapola of things over time.

It's likely merely coincidence, though.

Hey, at least I can actually find a download link for an XD iso. I've been trying to find a Battle Revolution ISO for the past hour and I can't find shit.

What it did right was to give the pokemon a lot of personality in battle.

What it did right was presentation. The stages look big and grand. The Pokemon themselves look hyped as fuck. The narrator made you feel like you were watching an actual spectator sport.
