They are a bit like Barbarian Prince (which is free).

But, Clan Managment plus CYOA is very rare, except if you count some old Hentai Games.

I'm gonna shill Sabers/Guns of Infinity and Mecha Ace.

The first two are basically Napoleonic wars in fantasy land. You being as a new officer and work your way from there, either becoming a great leader of men with troops that will gladly sacrifice their lives for you, or being a selfish little shit.

The second is pretty much not-Gundam. Both are written by the same guy and are about the only good thing to come out of the Choice of Games San Francisco shitfest.

Some of them are pretty good, like Choice of the Robots and Diabolical.

Choice of Alexandria (while we're on the topic of Choice of Games) is another title I'd say is good and is not preachy. The guy who wrote it (iirc the same one who did Choice of Robots) set it in Alexandria and it is pretty historically accurate - the only major thing is that he made Euclid a chick (acceptable, since we have no biographical records of who Euclid exactly was) and had Ptolmey's wife be a bit more prominent than she would have been irl.

Otherwise it's a pretty poignant game about living in Alexandria during antiquity (near the times of the First Punic War) and juggling between raising a kid to be a good king and also doing some science. Pretty good and complex choices which require more than just picking a disposition and rolling w/ it, and good variety.

also I'd recommend tin star as a guilty pleasure and a good western cyoa
