Bandcamp is by far the best platform in terms of what it provides for the artists, and is the only one that provides a good model at all. It sucks that they're pushing this and I won't buy while it's going on but it won't stop me from using the platform in the future. The commission they take on purchases is tiny and it's the only platform where nearly 100% of your money goes directly to the artist, and artists are allowed to control their content precisely (deciding what file types to offer, selling merch, selling collectors editions and bundle packages, etc.). Start an unpoliticizes alternative that offers the same benefits for the artists and I'll gladly stop using Bandcamp, but otherwise, what they provide is unique and valuable.

If it's on a (((major label))) (why would you listen to anything on a major label in the first place?) then pirating is the ethically correct choice. If it's something like an independent artist on Bandcamp charging $7 for their album, you genuinely like the music, and spending $7 is not going to cause your family to starve or something, you should buy it. It's not cool or ethical to fuck over genuine artists who are doing good work.

It still amuses me that the bridge too far was not letting them into the military. The ultimate sin is not letting mentally unstable, testosterone-suppressed failed males join the military. Granted the DOD is just a glorified jobs program at this point, but you still have to laugh at the idea at a front line soldier in combat stopping to adjust his dilator.

Haven't used that other one, but offliberty is a pretty solid downloader that dosen't need a plug-in or anything, it's all done in the browser, I use it to save jewtube clips too. Though I'm not associated with it or anything, nor am I great at computers, perhaps there's better ones out there.

You should try it, it allows you to download an artist's entire discography at once.

youtube-dl gets the songs too… in fact youtube-dl grabs pretty much everything. It's much more than its name implies.
