I thinks its fun with tacticool mods

Does it still run like shit, last update put my average framerate from 45-50 back to fucking 20-25

oh yes i forgot about snek

i have the first one but never played it..refund for this hmm?

Someone please answer Satan's question

Not until decent mods come out for it. The game is iOS levels of depth and performance

Pros:
Bigger maps with more variety
Enemies have a wider range of abilities
Armor system
Overworld improved
Hacking
Cons:
Just Xcom 1 with a Guerilla theme, and only one actual guerilla mission
Alien rulers appearing on regular missions
Overworld needs improving
Hacking is RNG with terrible roll chances

They can do two things to really improve Xcon 2 right now, one is to allow more missions to spend intel for perks. The other is to allow us to send soldiers on lone missions which leads to actual missions, making is feel like we're taking an active role and not just passing time waiting for missions.
Basically, we could send out a Specialist who will track down alien codes to make hacking permenantly easier for all Xcom soldiers, or we can send a sniper on a scouting mission to track down a vulnerable convoy to take supplies from.

with mods it becomes more playable but frankly just pirate it, it's not very good

Grenadiers are fucking broken. You can do every mission with a full squad of them with very little resistance.
Timer is barely noticeable and just narrows what tactics you can use. No more overwatch camping.
The ayys lack variety and there are less ayys than EU/EW. Not to mention they just aren't as interesting. Remember how EW introduced Seekers to counter Snipers that camp in the back? Nothing inventive like that.
The procedure map generator and character customization is far better than EU/EW but the map generator needs a bit more tinkering and ends up with the issue with every map generator (Maps seem to blend together).
I haven't played any of the DLC but from what I've heard of the Alien rulers provide a slight mix up but aren't really that hard however they do grind against everything the game teaches you.
Shen's Last gift is just a shittier EW MEC.
Mods aren't up to scruff yet. The best ones are still in heavy development.

If you want to play now replace the vanilla classes and add a lot more ayy lmaos. Use the "Guerrila War" mod to replace the timer with reinforcements which seems to match up with the guerilla theme more and just better in general.
I do recommend waiting until an expansion (You know Jewaxis is going to make one) or waiting for a Long War scaled overhaul mod which I believe is what Long War studios might be leading up to.

It's just terrible RNG that swings the mission towards you or ADVENT on a coin flip. Either you get buffs to the specialist and/or squad like Phantom, Squadsight, randomly mind controlling an enemy, or giving everyone their turn back or you get taken out of concealment, you get every pod on the map on your ass, or you get instant reinforcements. Either you get things like Alien Facility coordinates or you take two damage. Either you hack the MEC or Sectopod and get control of them/shut them down, or they've got bonuses to all of their stats.
It's a shitty, unfun mechanic that adds in more RNG into the game and makes both wins and losses feel unearned.

Oh, and the DLC is pretty shit as well.

I regret pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition pretty hard.

Crap, how they felt. I guess I can't expect an actual Enemy Within level of expansion.

What where they thinking?

user.. I preordered the physical deluxe edition. I regret it as well.

any other turn based tacticool games with less problems?

Xenonauts is pretty good

Play the original Xcom or Apocalypse. If you like Firaxis' XCOM then play EW with LW. Just make sure to tune the ini files to your liking because the balancing in LW's all over the place.

Door Kickers is pretty good from the few levels I've played of it.

Yeah, it´s defnitely worth without the dlcs, because they add nothing really substantial just gimmicks.

I thought they were just commissioned for some small new mods? Though things like the new alien enemies and laser tier mods they made makes me wonder why these wouldn't thought up during development of the base game.

Are there really retarded time limits on half of the missions or it's just casuals complaining on steam?

played X-com 2 with basically Stormtroopers, Buck from ODST, Duke Nukem and Gordon Freeman

Freeman died on the 2nd to last mission, and the Scout trooper killed the last avatar and won me the game

to be honest the last map was fucking terrible

It's a game that seems spiteful towards the player. The DLC is shit. It often runs like ass. It doesn't get proper patch support.

So no, ignore this POS.

XCOM2 is really fun, even better than XCOM.
That said, it's not the same type of game as X-Com, so don't expect a hardcore strategy/tactics game.

The best way to describe it is that it's a casual board game version of X-Com.

It's horrible. Don't think about this as saving money because it's on sale, and don't consider pirating because it'd be free - don't play it, because you should respect your time more than anything else, and this game isn't worth your time.

Play any other strategy game. Just pick one. Not this one.

In what sense? Even on Legend it's embarrassingly easy to do an entire playthrough without any of your soldiers even taking a hit.

did they fix the performance problems?

I disagree. I suppose you can do it if you use nothing but grenadiers but trying to play with a balanced team you will get hit and it will be a critical even though your guy was in full cover all the time.

And if the missions don't fuck you over, the arbitrary connections between regions just might or any of the other pointless RNG shit.

If you buy the game DO NOT BUY ANY DLC. Expecially Alien Pack it makes a god mob randomly show up in a mission and it gets to move after each one of your guys moves. So if you have a squad of 6 then it gets to move 6 times for each turn.

I liked the game. The timed missions are well set. Just enough to get it done but not too many so it is a cake walk. The hacking is rng liked everything else in the game (Player_hack_skill/Hack_difficulty = % success). Liked the new classes just with they didnt do the two path choice again. Would have been nice to have a bit more variation. The base building is not really a thing anymore. Pretty much just one good configuration. I liked the enemy verity and how many had unique efficient methods to dealing with it. Wish the scaling didn't make them such massive bullet sponges. Concealment is the best new mechanic because it making the strategy different from the previous game. To the point where when I started xcom2 tried the same strategy as enemy within and got wiped on mission 2 or 3. Sectoid panics the rookie who throws a grenade blowing up the car near the sectoid and killing the two teammate hunkered down on the other side. It was a blood bath. But once I got used to the new style it was just fine. I even spent way too much time in character creator making Jesus, Jason, Helen Keller ext. Oh Grenadier still OP of you get all the AoE buffs you can gas a huge area. Late game Buddy Jesus was basically Hitler gassing everyone.

If you're using a pirated copy, Win Key+Print Screen shares a screenshot in your Pictures folder.

Was sending them to a friend who doesn't have a laptop. Easier to just snap the screen and hit text. Dont have the game installed so couldnt go get new ones.

Did someone say… Snek?

>Licking snake cloaca
The madman.

Not half, nearly every mission has a time limit. Only a handful don't and they tend to be better for some reason.

I'm here for the snake tits.

Any mods to recruit sneks yet?

Also, have there been any mods to make the female characters looks better?

If you're looking for an actually good implementation of stealth in these types of games give Invisible Inc a shot.

There's playable aliens, you do an autopsy of the alien and then to recruit one you do a proving grounds project.

Adventfags go away

Worth a pirate/10

So is 2 or Enemy Unknown better? I've heard this one is a bit of a downgrade.

and at some point I really need to give the originals a play. They are just so intimidating now.
