Fallout New Vegas thread

3 and 4 not allowed.

This run through I've been playing a sneaky explosion retard, and I'd recommend the Ammo Crafting Schematics mod that does all kinds of useful shit like letting you break down specialty ammunition and craft shit like missiles and mininukes but isnt retarded with it.

stop playing and forget it exists until now

I'm still on my very first run. Mr. House is a bossy fuck and I have half a mind to go into his forbidden chambers and teach him what for. I think I may do just that, he treats me like some god damned errand boy. That part of my life died along with me the moment I took that 9mm bullet to the head in Goodsprings. i this ancient relic of an older time who thinks he knows better than anyone else. I'm doing all the work here, he thinks he can just omit any of my input and push me around like some god damned glorified paper boy? I don't think so. I'll play along with him for now, but I found a robot inside the Gohmorrah that I think will prove to be quite helpful if I ever decide to stage a mutiny.

How does it feel to have such shit taste?

...

What stake do you have in perpetuating the myth that beth fallout is good if it's got a story written by obsidian ? Every goddamn day, at that ?

fuckign autists.

What the fuck do you think a courier is

The worst is Powered Gangers. Fiends if you can call them a faction. The Legion if you mean which you can side with in the end.

House is best.

House>NCR>Yesman (placeholder ending)>Caesar's Legion

i saw on the last thread someone was doing a high luck crit cowboy kind of build so i decided to do the same.
the question remains lads, house or ncr?

I would prefer a modern CRPG Fallout over TES-clones but it just shows how only little changes to gameplay are needed to make Bethesda's Fallout playable.

I guess the aim of Father in FO4 was to keep building their underground utopia and secluding themselves more and more, while murdering key individuals on the surface and replacing them with synths, until you came along, then he's just like "this was my plan so far but you can sorta do whatever the fuck you want now".

Oh shit, i forgot we can't talk FO4 here.

I'm not a courier. I'm done with that. Learn to fucking read. I'm motherfucking Jesus as far as anyone is concerned. Fuck NCR, I've helped those asshats bring in new troops, new supplies, I've helped them rout threats and trained their soldiers, and for what? They sit on their asses doing fuck all while I run around the desert making shit happen. Caesar isn't much better. He's got his spy network keeping tabs on me, House, and the NCR but he doesn't make any moves. Where is the warfare? Where are the skirmishes? Everyone sits on their asses while I wipe out waves of chem addicts and mutated freaks. I got HELIOS one working. I went into Vault 22 and grabbed their blueprints for genetically engineered fauna. I single-handedly wiped out a nest of Deathclaws that overran Quarry Junction. Courier my ass. Time waits for me. Hence, I a God.

Well with that minset you're a god in pretty much any rpg.

Shit taste user

you're god damn right

I would re-install my copy again but Nexus mod manager is subscription based now.

unless someone knows another way to get mods

What do you mean? Just make a dummy account and download to your heart's content. As far as I know, you don't have to pay a damn thing.

Where can I find this?

what?
also

install old version of nexus mod manager and never update
mine is like version 0.8 or something and have had no problems since 2011

Angry retard run is best run.

I'll spoonfeed you, here yah go user.

Angry Retard, Unarmed, Max Luck

Killing everything with your barehands is just too satisfying, only annoying part was the mission where you have to assassinate the NCR president, even still, fun run, one of my favorites of all time

Thanks user!
Have a cute jew.

There is no such thing as a Fiends faction. The Fiends outside are always hostile towards you.

Especially if you always take the skill checks even if you fail them

HolHouse
He'd work for whoever had the most cash.

are there any infopics with falloutNV mods? i always played it vanilla, but now i have the need for some mods for my house run

this edge

Still hurts you cant have a full retard run through out the whole game like with FO1 and 2. Aside from that I'm glad they added atleast a bit because Bethesda sure didnt gave a single fuck.

It really is a shame, full retard runs were always funny. Right now I'm playing a sneaky cowboy with a lazer revolver who shoves dynamite up peoples ass. I'll bringing law to Vegas and death to my enemies rectum.

Dude if I ever get back to drawfaggotry I'd do that.

You mean enjoyable

Feel free, it was just going to a stealth build but saw the cowboy starting job on the alternate start mod and combined the two into for fun.

Does the cannibal perk add any extra dialogue options with those restaurant guys?

Yup. You can tell them you eat people too without having to lie.

Are there any other mods you use/recommend? I was thinking of playing again but don't know what's essential.
Something that rebalances the game to be harder without turning it into bullet sponge central would be nice.

I'm currently playing as a TWISTED PSYCHOPATH and I picked that perk for the first time.

I've beaten this game maybe six times, and I still think there are a few quests I missed, and I know for sure there are some areas I haven't explored. Using mods that add more content definitely make replaying it more fun, though. Especially those that utilize areas that Obsidian didn't have time to.

That's a pretty good prop

This isn't normal, is it?

On Jet it is

yeah, user, its just a prop

Until someone proves otherwise

let me keep my innocence

Sounds like Gamebyro simply working better than expected

If it makes you feel better, he was probably irish.

I've seen most people commonly use Project Nevada for re-balancing and the nice features it brings like sprinting and a dedicated grenade hotkey. Pretty sure it adjusts health for both PC and NPC as well, so might be something worth looking into. Darnified UI makes menus less cancer, Stutter Remover removes well, stutter. Remover New Vagas Uncut mods add back some cut content that was pretty much complete but not added, Afterschool Special lets you turn the school in Goodsprings into a base with its questline, I like it alot. More Perks and traits add some great perks that fit nicely along with Vanilla, New Vegas Bounties are good and quick questlines, I hear Beyond Bolderdome is pretty good. Mojave Music Radio adds up to 100 songs to the radio station, nice having as the vanilla ones can get old after a while. You can add some weapon mods to spice up the loot pool if you want, that lazer revolver is pure sex. Improved Sound and Essential Visual Enhancements for flavor.

Thats what I'd personally recommend, if you want to go really balls to the wall on modding try the Fear and Loathing guide.

It's bread.
The baker is a Nip who does tons of stuff like this.

Wait shit, they're Thai.
archive.is/IDte2

That mod has some pretty clever additions. Some of the perks just increase some numbers, of course, but some of them have actual gameplay changes, too. Like giving you a small chance to summon radroaches to assist you in battle, for instance. It's neat.

Also, how long is the Afterschool Special questline?

Meh, i got stuck in that loop for months, i simply go wandering around killing fiends, Legion assassins and like, just to shot things with all guns from mods and like.
Got bored of the story quests, so i just go around Mojave killing things. Not even the DLCs because too much talk and too little killing.
I just want only to shoot, shoot and kill and kill. Aim, kill, reload. Quite relaxing i tell you.

anyone ever notice that you literally don't need any combat skills to murder everything in this game?

Definitely House, Hol Horse wants that dosh.

You need the goyim to believe your jewish lies user

What music should I add to my radio?

My favorite perk from it is the Lonely one, if you reach level 6 or 8 and don't have any companions you get a baby deathclaw as your one, its name being *NPC name*'s Best Friend. Pretty funny and its cute as fuck. Afterschool took me a few hours, the hardest part for me was tracking down a fucking sledgehammer. forgot there was one near the Correctional Facility railway after the fact, It is alot less action oriented more finding shit however. If you enjoy aftershool special, you might like that other guys mod that lets you renovate the Bison Steve Hotel in Primm into a casino. I didnt even fucking know you could use Primm's casino till a few days ago

PCs name*

It's an art exhibiton from Germany. I reverse image searched it once.

Still good for giving people the spooks.

Fug, ignore me then. Maybe it was on display in Germany.

Afterschool special was like one of the better mods that let you do shit to fix up an area.

Fuck run the lucky 38 though. I downloaded it expecting a mod that lets me run a casino and then 2 hours later I was hunting down codes all over the map for some Enclave scientist because reasons.

I'm pretty sure there was a sledgehammer in goodsprings too

Talking to yourself is a sign of poor mental health, user.

Starting a new run soon, is there any reason to sink points into CHR other than companion benefits or from an RP standpoint?

Okay I have an old FNV install without any of this virtual mod bullshit and if I try to open NMM for the game it says it "can't find them" (because this game install is from before that was a thing) and is basically demanding I uninstall all of my mods to proceed. How the fuck do I get past this horseshit?

...

they are the master race and owners of this planet after all.

why in gods name would you do such a thing

it will open special dialogue with a few characters. there are also a few instances where high charisma substitutes a low speech check. also animal friend perk

Fuck this goddamn stupid horseshit all I want to do is play my fucking game

Are you literally fucking retarded? Get FOMM.

As if Holla Forums could ever stop sucking Obsidian's dick long enough to discuss them on their own merits. Even threads about them derail into NV threads with the occasional DOS player thrown in.

I'll tell you how I play New Vegas: I mod the shit out of it until it stops feeling like Borderlands or Red Dead Redemption and actually becomes, ya know, post apocalyptic again.

And yet, the entire time I'm playing it, I still can't get that cowboy taste completely out of my mouth, so I end up closing it and switch it back to 3 for yet another complete playthrough.

I'm up to my 9th playthrough of 3. I finished NV…once. And that was just the main story, I didn't bother with side quests because it loads like ass.

what?

user there isn't an antag in NV

(You)

Here's your reply.

here is you're reply

...

I know this is bait but I'm taking it anyway.

New Vegas isn't meant to be "post-apocalyptic", It was meant to be post-post-apocalyptic.

You are thrown into frontier, not a wasteland. NV takes place at a time where the scavenging economy transitions into an industrial market economy akin to the second industrial revolution(hence the heavy "wild west" theme). You'll also notice most(if not all) of the issues are political, rather than environmental.

A great example of this transition is the insane mid-game cap inflation due to the means of producing bottle caps being feasible enough that anyone with a mold, mill, or press can produce them.

fuck it, I just did everything by hand, fuck mod organizers/managers/etc.
I have everything just how I want it anyway, so I don't need their fucking bullshit

see and this post

Holla Forums hates Obsidian because they're a bunch of incompetent (and now SJW) retards. They only like Chris Avellone because he's a good writer and keeps his shitty politics out of his work. New Vegas is a shit game, but it can be saved by mods because it has good writing to back it up. 3 is juvenile bullshit and you should be ashamed for admitted you prefer it. 4 is irredeemable garbage. That's how they stand if you judge them by their merits. Just know that I'm only taking your shitty bait because of how pissed I already am, and that Nexus Mod Manager can piss me off pretty well, unlike you.

Use FOMM dumbass

Stop.

nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334/?

Use this, I know it says "skyrim nexus" but this does work for New Vegas. This is by far the best mod manager because instead of injecting and replacing files it creates a separate virtual folder for mods, meaning nothing gets replaced in the vanilla folders.(If however it does not work well for you I recommend: nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/36901/ )But for the love of Kek, stop using Nexus Mod Manager, It can't even clean up after itself properly which defeats the entire fucking purpose of having a mod manager.

Mod MANAGER and Mod ORGANIZER are two differant things

I directed you to a mod manager, you dumb shit.
Also don't use automated shit ever, it's gonna break your game harder than any other mod possibly could.

Enjoy trying to uninstall mods manually especially if you replaced files.

You'll learn soon enough why you need them.

What part of I went in and fixed the load order by hand because I was sick of their bullshit do you not understand? I'm done. I'm playing the game right now. All I had to do was restore three mods that NMM initially nuked before I killed the process.
>I directed you to a mod manager, you dumb shit
Hence why I said manager

I feel like I messed up somewhere

Have fun reinstalling your game every 2 weeks fam.

We tried to give you advice and help you and you just bitch at us? I don't use this word often but, eat shit you entitled prick.

I roleplayed it as my character was a former NCR officer who grew disenchanted with their politics and found Caesar the better answer.

I want to do a Hardcore run as Legion where I become the ultimate Ubermensch. Living off the land, making my own leather armor and fighting everything with my bare hands.

lmao, no wonder people always try to bait threads like these, I wasn't even trying to make anyone mad and yet here you are
Do you honestly think I'm incapable of modifying a load order with the help of LOOT without a mod manager after manually adding THREE WHOLE .esps when I was the one who set up this entire modded install and even made some of the mods myself to begin with? My only mistake was trying to use the new retard bullshit that everyone always recommends. If I ever want to do more extensive modding, I'll redownload FOMM, otherwise I don't give a shit.

wew

Do I look like somebody who gives a fuck?

You'll know soon enough. I went through it my first time modding the game.

also
I-i was b-baiting guys. I swear!

Will you guys stop your slapfighting?

I'm not baiting, if you read my post you'd know that.
Oh boy, there's more of that "you didn't use the shitty program I told you to so your game is totally gonna magically explode two weeks later!"

Well maybe not, if you don't use too many mods. And as long as the files aren't replaced you can go and manually remove all the asset files but it could take hours compared to a couple clicks. But if it's a file that wrote over a vanilla asset, you're fucked fam, you'll need to reinstall.

Look, I really am just trying to help out. It's important to know how these things work if you try to get into modding a game.

Not at all. Idiosyncratic playthroughs are some of the best. I played through Legion as a pacifist doctor, NCR as a scientist, and House as an Energy gun-toting terrorist type.

The only thing that even freaked out was MCM and all I needed to do was reinstall it
The only reason ANYTHING fucked up is because I was a retard and launched NMM. NMM is what broke shit, and I had to fix it. I didn't even add any new mods.

Sounds like all's good here then. user's trying to be nice and help, other user knows what he's doing and (maybe?) appreciates the gesture.

Back to business. What are some character/SPECIAL ideas you have? Right now I've got an idea for an opportunistic merchant type, but I'm having trouble boiling down the ideas. I don't know if I want to play him rotten, or greedy but good at heart. I'm also trying to figure out if I wanna use Energy Guns or Explosives and if I wanna use Sneak at all.

I'm about to start an opportunistic junkie. Thinking typical nig nog but a bit smarter so that he can actually survive. I plan on actually roleplaying so we'll see if his experiences make him a better person or, otherwise, how much the dindu can du before his momma be beggin fo mo money fo dem programs. Ironman run, of course. Still deciding on his SPECIAL while doing my usual startup tweaks in the MCM. Gonna be interesting trying to run a character that relies on shitty spray automatics but isn't remotely self-sufficient when it comes to ammo.

Sometimes I see people shit talking Dead Money. I played it for the first time a few months ago and I thought it was really fucking good. The atmosphere is the best. Story is pretty good too. Now I'm up to OWB, but I hit max level before starting and everything is a bullet sponge. I haven't played the game in months. What do you guys think of DM and OWB?

Pretty fun, not as great for repeat playthroughs but I still give it a whirl once in a while
Made or broken by whether you find the doctors funny or insufferable. For me it's a mix of both, which I suppose was the intention. Atmosphere isn't that great compared to DM, but still gives some decent vibes of isolation in a sci-fi environment. Enemies are extremely boring to fight and the areas aren't fun to explore, but Avellone's writing makes it worth a go once in a while, similar to DM. You being max level isn't the issue, the enemies in OWB are always shit.

Sawyer's mod must have replaced the recurring vouchers (worth 1000 caps) with only 25 caps mostly because of how hilariously overpowered this is.

I think he must be talking about Benny or pic related.

Is that just no saving, or…?

Now I want a Hol Horse and Oingo Boingo game

Oy vey it's the Kollector

All bow to honor the high ranking Jew

Holy fuck, thanks, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Nah, it's just a one-life thing. If I get killed (legitimately, the physics freaking the fuck out and catapulting a bucket at my head at 100000km/s doesn't count) I'll just roll a new character.

I use the alt. repair system from PN so that's not nearly as overpowered if I do it, but yeah, shit's crazy.

personally the bullet-sponge enemies were a godsend. by the time i got to OWB i was drowning in high-powered ammo. it put my ridiculous arsenal to good use, so that was pretty satisfying.

Been thinking of reinstalling NV and actually giving it a playthrough rather than just fucking around with a couple of mods and deleting it. Anyone use TTW? Does it work well with most mods?

I intentionally left behind a ton of weapons and ammo and only brought 3 or 4 weapons with a reasonable amount of ammo so that I'd have a ton of inventory space for new stuff. That was a mistake.

No and it's viable but you're going to be spending a lot of time making it work. It's not really worth it because Fallout 3 is shit anyway.

When I play I don't use mods
My build is low Str and End high Per, Chr and Lck, mid Agi I sneak and shoot lazers, while sweet talking chumps, pretty basic tho

More than enough mods that change that. Not many that do proper questlines for them though
except sexmods

The irony is that the original Fallout and Fallout were both very light on the "post-apocalypse" aesthetic. It was mainly about how groups of people adapted to the end of the world, not exploring ruined cities and shit.

TTW is nice but incompatible with a whole fuckton of good mods.

I didn't know that FO:NV had a Buzzfeed mod.

Nope, no post apocalyptic setting here, just desert dwellers who pity your low INT level

Out of all the locations in F1, only Necropolis, Vault 15 and The Glow weren't densely populated with people trying to rebuild their lives. Fallout has always been a game about the societies of the Wasteland, not the Wasteland itself.

House > Yes Man >>>>> Legion/NCR

Man, what the fuck happened to him? He had a promising career.

Yes Man (as an intelligent Courier skilled in diplomacy) > House > NCR > Legion > Yes Man (as a low INT violent Courier)

Having to force my way through Dead Money. Honestly not enjoying it except for the time with Dean. How did y'all get through it?

House = Yes Man (Smart Courier) > Legion/Stabilized NCR > Overextended NCR > Yes Man (Dumb/Malevolent Courier)

Does the ruthless nature of the Legion not knock them down a peg or two? Agreed with the rest though, that's very balanced.

TTW is fine on it's own, but you need to get special patches or versions of mods that are compatible. Though that mostly has to do with mods that make significant changes like Project Nevada, weapon and armor mods will work just fine.

They're knocked back up by their being terribly incomplete, thus not showing the various originally intended virtues that Caesar goes on about as both planned and present, and by the NCR being even more doomed than the Legion in the event of balkanization. If the Legion loses Caesar and Lanius can't hold shit together, then it might split up into a bunch of subsistence tribals & city-states again, or else come under a shaky governance by the Frumentarii in a deified Caesars' name, whom make up the bulk of Caesars' power apparatus proper anyways. The Legion might fall as an effective power projecting apparatus, but its constituent pieces will largely survive, apart or as a whole.

If the modernized and increasingly stagnant NCR falls apart from factionalism tearing apart the central government or some form of domino effect economic snare leading to total logistical failure, whatever worst case one imagines, that's it. It isn't coming back together again, at least not as far as I can tell, being as post-post apocalypse a state as it gets. You'll have desperate farmsteaders in dry land with no irrigation running. Starving towns due to dependence on import. Cities emptied with now ghostly streets. Highways jammed by stopped atomic vehicles going anywhere and nowhere, those fleeing in them dying of starvation, or dehydration, or heat stroke. Vault City will secede and shut the gates again. The military will attempt martial law, then fracture into warlordism, possibly deploying petty Davy Crockett-tier nuclear weapons against one another if the NCR has anything of the sort locked away, mothballed. Think the Yugoslav civil war in California. Breakups of modern states are not pretty. And if the player doesn't solve their problems in Vegas, it's not outside the realm of plausibility, even if it's not a certainty.

it's best if you use a high level character because there are tons of skill checks. that's one of the reasons i loved it.

That's a very historically-backed explanation. Makes me want to try them out again. Shame so much of their content didn't make the cut.

I heard you could just pirate the dlc's and run them like a mod without any detection, however I can't seem to find a reliable torrent of the dlc. Anyone know where to look?

I think the minutemen are objectively the most "good" out of all factions in the fallout universe. They remind me of the NV independent ending, only better.
Sure they had problems with ranking authority, but that got weeded out with a simple shootout. And their leader for a little while was a gay nigger, but whatever.
The minutemen support the local community, and don't care much about worldly agendas. Farmers and trade routes grow stronger with them, and raiders either get driven out completely or join the commune. That sounds like a perfect way to rebuild the world.

Scratch that, I found copies that download relatively fast. Just had to dig further.

What else is necessary besides Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road, and GRA? Should I bother with anything else?

There's no real grey area with F4.

Minutemen > BOS > Institute > Railroad

And that's just ranking them by their end goals. There's very little complication in Beth's Fallout universe.

I know the lore rape from F4 is unforgivable, but it did invent some interesting elements for the universe. A lot of untapped potential for Obsidian to pickup again, maybe.

Satisfying as fuck, and I've yet to feel such an enthralling story from a game since.

I can't think of a reason not to pick House every time. He saved your life with Victor and was the only reason Las Vegas isn't a giant crater like Salt Lake City. Not to mention he treats you like a true friend and lets you live in the Lucky 38 while also working with him.

The other factions are well written but honestly if I was the Courier I would owe my life to House for not just saving my life but his hospitality and treatment of me as an equal.

On a Raider playthrough, that was a big mistake.

Well obviously. It was a big mistake for everyone that had a hand in saving your ass.

I don't think Doc Mitchell would have appreciated having his head chopped off and corpse fucked after stitching up some guy.

Don't get me wrong House is one of, if not, the best choices for the Mojave but he doesn't see anyone as his equal. he sees you as a valuable asset, just like every other faction. The only difference is that he knows not to treat you like shit.

That's really how you treat people as an equal. If you considered yourself superior to another then you would just squash them under your thumb, or at least try to, an equal is someone you both respect and fear.

It's the serpent's way of doing it, sure, but there's nothing wrong with establishing authority, and respecting it. Hiding behind kind words rather than reason simply calls him out for what he is; a con-man who knows from the moment you step in that you mean business, and are a valuable threat to him, if he pisses you off.

True. Which is why he doesn't bother with any flattery. He knows that if you decide to work for him then it's entirely your choice and never forces you to do anything for him.

That's exactly what he wants, but only a fool will buy in for so long, and his obituary basically sells it all off to you about the real him. He's no God-Emperor, by any means, and his grand plan is basically a royal flush in the toilet.

I don't know. While others like Caesar seem to be all talk about their grand plans House genuinely believes in it, which is why he places such importance on himself.

House was smart enough that he basically predicted the day of the Great War, only off by a few hours. His pre-War success was very beneficial to the development of humanity and the fact that New Vegas still stands is proof enough for my confidence in him.

Anyone got a link to a recommended mod list so I can weigh my options?

pastebin.com/wVAqLvCD

I dont know her name but my whole time playing New Vegas I just wanted to fuck the cow girl

Unfortunately, there was no R34 back then when I played and now i dont know any good aites to find her

i think House is certainly the most interesting option (especially if your Courier has a science background), but the best for humanity in the long run? i used to believe that, but i'm not so sure anymore. his hands-off approach to social and ethical matters is extremely narrow-minded.

he's only interested in technological progress and re-industrializing. but isn't that like building the roof before the foundation? what about the wastelander mindset? it's been 200 years since civilization collapsed, and humanity has turned completely tribal. the whole world is basically the Middle East. you can't just fix that with technology.

I think Caesar approach to assimilating tribes into a common ideology was far more considerate of human nature. he knew you had to build civilization from the ground up if you want it to succeed, and he recognized what a disaster it is to introduce advanced technology to a bunch of primitive fucks.

Given it to my brother to play, watching him play it on and off.
Tell me some mods to suggest to him.

I feel like Fallout would be better in FPS than isometric if done right. Maybe more to the vein of Deus Ex's gunplay and make AP work more like fatigue in Morrowind.

you made me install F:NV again, all those mods need the DLC? I just want to play the main game without the constant reminder of the DLC quests.

ahahahaha, no. Beth/Zenimax tried to pull the same shit they do with everyone who works for them, which is to bleed them dry and try to bankrupt them so they can buy them for cheap. Obsidian got paid basically nothing for making New Vegas and nearly went bankrupt as a result. They saved themselves and got the fuck out all the while telling Zenimax to eat a dick.

Turns out it worked anyway, since the little remaining talent left Obsidian after that and they became full SJW. A pyrrhic victory at best.
tl;dr Obsidian will never ever work with Bethesda again and even if they did the product would be complete shit anyway.

Well there is the whole enslavement thing with Caeser, so naturally anybody who "joins" his "Pax Romana" is going to get the shackles or the cross.
Which isn't necessarily bad, they treat slaves relatively well. But their penchant for constant war and disregard for human life kinda takes civilization back before the bombs fell, and not in a good way.

One thing I never quite understood about NV, was Mister New Vegas actually a computer radio announcer made by House or is that just some rumor people keep repeating?
And if it's the former where do they say that, because I haven't found anything.
although it was only on my third play through that I learned that there was a town on the north side of Vegas as well so I don't know

bethblog.com/2010/08/11/behind-the-scenes-the-many-voices-of-new-vegas/

it's not a penchant, it's a necessary early stage. he's still in the process of assimilation. after defeating the NCR and taking New Vegas, his goal was to restructure the Legion into something more resembling society than just a giant military. he kind of explains that to you if you ask him.

...

...

Kill them all, they're filthy cannibals. Don't you have autosaves on?

No, I don't use autosave and I already ragequit the game. Will try to get a diplomatic solution again later. Time for a break.
I thought it was just Mortimer who wants to go back to "the old ways"?

...

I will never fuck up this hard again in my life

no sympathy, bud.

none.

Exclamation marks mean the game is missing mesh files. You installed something wrong, probably several things.

dont worry you will

you cuck are this delusional

How many buzzwords do you think you can fit into one post? I'd like to see

2/10 made me reply

So glad I switched to console gaming. You people are cancer, absolute cancer.

I didn't know you could quicksave by pressing F5 until now. I will be utilizing this a lot more now

Is that your asshole, user? Are you trying to tell us something?

Nah, consoles are cancer, so you are cancer too

Its funny seeing these retards worshipping this half assed mod but going ballistic if anyone mentions the actual games. Obsidian wouldnt be capable of making a game like this by themselves in a thounsdad years. Even some pedophiles on Nexus could make a mod like this if they had the budget.

I can see why they relate tough, fags here dont create any content either

his anus is ready.

come on people! its 2016! you should all read all the keybindings!

Well I'll admit I was hoping for some in-game evidence but whatever.

Nah, there's nothing about him in game, as far as I'm aware.

Wouldn't the fact you just can't find him anywhere be evidence enough? I always figured Mojave Music and New Vegas were broadcasted from Lucky 38, since you can find everyother station.

Careful with quicksaving, it bloats and corrupts your save file pretty quick

What am I suppose to do for the game to not have loading hiccups while walking around the map?

how old is your toaster?

Man I had a whole host of reasons of why you can't find him or even find out where it's being broadcast from but computer made by House was neither my first guess nor my favorite.

nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34832/?

Autosaves do that too. I'd recommend CASM.

Yeah, Mr. New Vegas having zero presence in the game was pretty lame. A talking terminal in Lucky 38 would've been better.

Very subtle Todd, now tell me how skyrim remaster is better than pc mods.

New enough to run this shit without trouble, it is just the stupid sluttering. i5-3570k, gtx780 and 8GB RAM.

I have this installed, or at least I think it is. It doesn't help.

Make sure everything is in your FNV/Data folder, instead of FNV/Data/Data

The fallout 3/NV engine is a piece of shit, up until recently F3 wasn't even playable on PC.
It has something to do with the DirectX memory allocation and Papyrus scripts bloating everything past those limits.

I know Fallout 4 is just a modified version of the same engine they've always used, but is it any better at all, or does it still suffer from all the same bullshit problems?

I love Dead Money. I don't get how anyone can dislike it unless they're a casual who thought it was hard.

F4 is more optimized for PC, so it won't crash every 10 minutes. But F4 still suffers from save bloating and somehow the scripting is even more fucked up than skyrim's.

There seems to be a few textures in a second data folder inside the data folder. Should I move them? I also doubt 2mb of textures would be the problem.

They were also already in the other folder, so no idea why a copy was installed there too.

I eventually found some but fuck me was that a pain in the ass. I need to get the DLC and focus on the main story soon.

I uninstalled 4 a while ago, so I don't know how things have changed.
It was less buggy than NV was on release, but more than unmodded NV now. I had a couple CTDs, but more annoying was bullshit that killed me, like falling through a highway overpass. It was frequent enough that I find the sleep-to-save survival mode a terrible idea and would only even consider that mode if I could mod that feature out.

As for performance, I found it had typical Bethesda optimization. I have a GTX 970 and in areas with any significant number of buildings I was consistently averaging 25-30fps. Changing graphics settings didn't affect my framerate that much. In any case, when buildings look like pic related, it should hardly be that bad.

There's plenty of ammo in the divide, you get a neat rocket lawnchair too with rockets everywhere.
Just don't pet the deathclaws.

There shouldn't be anything in Data/Data. If there is, it means that something was installed incorrectly. Sometimes mod organizers fuck up. Just take everything out and put it in the Data folder, and if it asks to overwrite anything just say yes.

Already did that and nothing really changed inside the game.

I'm more worried about deathclaws honestly. I ran it before and it wasn't so bad. Fucking deathclaws why is their armor so high. I'm just saving up bullets in general otherwise.

Do you have NVSE?

Yes.

You can try your hand at installing an ENB, it boosts the memory by 2 gb, and doesn't have to be fancy.
I've never had much luck with them though.

And the ini and dll files for the stutter remover are in the plugins folder?

Yes.

And you're launching FNV via NVSE?

Chalk something else to cut content I suppose.

Yes. Because I wasn't sure if the 4GB thing was even installed through the mod manager I tried putting in the folder and launching it through that .exe and nothing seems to be different either.

I do despise how empty the game actually feels I mean the comic actually painted places like Freeside and New Vegas with tons of people. All of which were cut down to meet requirements for a forced console port. Almost every single thing about this game had to be cut off because Zenimax didn't want it Obsidian makes some mediocre games but most of the original devs were on board here they still got shafted instead of letting them make a decent game it was gutted.

Well shit man, I'm out of ideas

Comic? You mean there's Fallout comic books?

Even with all the cut content, it's at least 3x better than bethsoft fallout.

There was a prequel comic to New Vegas. It wasn't entirely accurate (they ride horses, which don't exist in the Fallout universe) but it followed Benny up until he shot the Courier.

There is only one prelude to New Vegas name "All Roads". It is not bad except for NCR has a cavalary division fucking shit up in melee during Bitter Springs massacre but it can be forgiven.

Exactly how I feel. I will hold the game for a little while longer, but I will probably just end up deleting it.

I can't imagine trying to play through the stutter. Worst comes to worst you could try reinstalling and trying the stutter remover again.

Do you people even good guy?

...

Shoving a nuke up the legendary deathclaw's ass never felt so good.

They have become fucking assholes and hate everything you do. I nuked their asses when I sided with house.

NCR is a police state run by (((brahmin barons))), and the brotherhood are a bunch of glorified techno-fetishist raiders. Even in fallout 2 they gunned you the fuck down for exercising your god-given second amendment rights and open carrying a weapon.

Even legion is better than NCR.

Given the Western/cowboy theme of New Vegas, horses are probably one of the most forgivable mistakes they could have made.

...

get out of here Сталкер

That's what the (((brahmin barons))) want you to believe. If you actually paid attention in FO2 and new vegas, you'd know the NCR is exactly like pre-war america; corrupt, inefficient, taxes the shit out of people and provides only for the wealthy and the powerful.

There's no destabilization or loose infastructure with House though.

It's going to be like africa with the fucking NCR leading it.

I think Beyond Bolderdome might, not sure because I have yet to install and play it. The rest should be A-Okay without it, I'm sure there is something that stops the drowning of pop up messages at the start of the game but its never really an issue for me. I always have a save ready that's just before you leave goodsprings as you can reset anything one last time. also to add some more onto the list because I forgot they existed; caliberX fire for a fuck ton of ammo types and calibers and some of JIPs mods like overheating and selective fire to sate your inner /k/. Expanded Weapon Mods and Weapon Mod Menu adds weapon mods to pretty every weapon in game and you can remove and reuse them, from boxing gloves to BB guns, there's something you slap into it. Finally the most important mod yet, NV Vault Girl :^)

i would let the BoS live if they didnt destroy the damn hospital every time, not even killing them stops them.

That's yet another reason why you kill Veronica as soon as you can, on top of the god awful screeching cat voice of felicia "le geymur geurl" day.

I think Caesar is brutal but does show mercy. He allowed the Followers to leave, and if you get the Enclave on his side he lets them go free as well. The enslavement of the people of New Vegas were most likely the NCR people that were unable to get out of Vegas, whereas the rest were treated like the towns of Arizona.

I don't think there's a bigger whiny little bitch in all of Fallout that this faggot, Arcade.

All his endings are basically him being butthurt it didn't turn out perfect for him. Even the fucking Yes Man ending he's still butthurt that Anarchy is exactly what it is.

I sell him to Caesar every time now.

delete this

I liked that, all those reinforced how much out of "place and time" he was, as someone grew up to be the new generation of Enclaves America but ended up as a gay-hippie-follower of apocalypse.

Dude should have been a poster boy with his nuclear family in some hospital or university instead of taking it up the ass in Mojave dealing with junkies.

If only some modder backported the horses from skyrim to NV. I want to be Raoh, riding on Kokuoh-go and conquering the Mojave with my Hokuto Shinken.

Who would win:

You already know the answer

Who would win:

NCR doesn't send all their resources to attack you at the same time though. They may send out a few people, but not an army's worth.

>The combined might incompetence of the NCR

didnt they won the damn and Caesar was so salty he burned some faggot?

That was more Chief Hanlon's doing than the NCR itself. Basically the way legion formations work is recruits in the front, veterans in the back, and Hanlon took advantage of this by baiting them into forcing their troops into a bottleneck, at which point snipers took out the veterans, leaving the recruits surrounded on both sides. According to Hanlon, this isnt something Caesar himself would've fallen for, but Joshua Graham was reckless and ended up getting played like a damn fiddle, which is why Caesar had him burned and thrown off the dam. In New Vegas, even Hanlon has become disillusioned of the NCR's ability to stay together and is basically sabotaging the NCR so they die quicker rather than starving the wasteland along with them.

Like Clockworks, Legionfags decided to downplay the Legion's defeat at the first Battle of Hoover Dam.

General Oliver pls go

Tell me, Republican, if the NCRs victory was so overwhelming, why didn't they crush Caesar's remnants before they could rally?

The Big MT. Were you faggots listen to the story?

In fairness, Caesar's Legion spans like 4 states. The Legion as a whole was still intact despite the loss.

Fill me in on this DLC revisionism

Well, you have to acknowledge whole Mojave campaign is just a bitch-fit by Kimball to do more the fiddling his thumbs at his office and NCR at the time is more concerned with rebuilding Los Angeles then bunch of larpers in skirts.

All of the DLCs were planned ahead of time from what remembered. The Big MT was based on the starting location of FO:VB.

...

Van Buren, the real Fallout 3.

...

...

Oh. Well really? That's quite nifty. Shame Van Buren failed I'd prefer it over what Fallout 3 actually was

Open Freeside always causes my game to slow down and crash frequently. I've had to chuck save files cause I crash every time I get in the area.

I think it's cause it conflicts with Robco Certified or one of the faction mods I have installed. Anyone got any advice? I've disabled it for now.

...

They did something to the urls. If you have a URL just take the numbers from it and plug it into

nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/?????/

ok, its working

I love FOMM! it's so easy to use Ive got 82 mods installed and have never had a problem.>>10355312

Personally I've always found mods that do shit like opening up Freeside or heavily modding it/The Strip to just be way more trouble than they're worth. I'd suggest just chucking it, user.

what are some good silly mods for fnv? i've gotten a bit bored after completing the game several times.

I've been meaning to try this one nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/52328/?

nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/46657/?

Fuck you, Raul

Did you complete the 'Come Fly With Me' quest before that?

I did, in fact. Never took Raul for the religious type.

Well there ya go. He believed in you, Savior.

FALLOUT NEW VEGAS IS A PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT! Christ you cockfuckers are willing to defend it when it has the fucking Obsidian logo on it. Fucking all of them can die from cancer, AIDS and fucking Ebola while roasting in a goddamn fire! Fuck new Vegas and fuck you guys. I'll stick with just Fallout 3

Having just started another run through OWB, I am now remembering the thing I hate most.
Not bullet sponges, not a dislike for the tone or dialogue, but the ambushes.
There are so many times enemies spawn out of nowhere for no reason. They aren't even really ambushes, since half the time they never even know I'm there. But I hate being able to see enemies just pop in.

I believe my last run, I used that fancy mod what lets you make your own settlement to become the mayor of Novac. Basically buidling my thing right on top of Novac, defending Novac from raiders, and generally getting rather annoyed at hte shit pathing AI what demands they walk into my walls 24/7. I built a load of gates, guys, come on.

Mostly play with the afore mentioned build shit mod, a few random weapons mods, and the cheathouse mod because I like to make a lot of new characters.

Enclave is objectively best. Only faction what can restore America to its former great again.
NCR is shit because muh politics.

You never took a Mexican to be religious?
Dios Mio.

...

He seriously want Las Vegas to be a space-faring city-state that shall forever remain within the confines of the wall. Fucking Babel.

...

Geeze, the Legion is fast. I was expecting them to send me to shore up the Khans and wipe out the Fiends and fuck up the NCR in more places.

Put a Spell on You is cool from the Legion perspective, but that's the only quest I've found that Caesar didn't give me. Aurelius just asks for more dog tags and there aren't really any other Legion camps. I've also got a shit ton of caps and nothing to spend it on.

The Legion is just fucking boring.

Oh, by the way, I'm finishing the game with them at 19. Fucking 19. I was 29, leveled to 30 during the battle, the first time I beat the game and that was before the expansion packs.

Put a Spell on You is from Vulpes, I think?

And the GRA DLC is what you're meant to spend all your money on.

I like Arcade, sure he's a flaming faggot that is wrong but as you point there is no version where he gets a happy ending.

IE the game says: reality is flaming faggots are flaming fagots who will die bitter and alone.

So somewhat it's less worse than Veronika Snowflake.

Well, I finished the game, regardless. I tried to roleplay as a Legion sleeper agent so no chems or booze or implants, but it wasn't worth it. The ending is so fucking bleak and doesn't even mention the White Gloves (after I blew a fucking perk to cajole them into joining).

I finished it at level 19 and I felt like I did pretty much everything the Legion had to offer, even wiping out Forlorn Hope. It was different, I'll give it that, but not in a good way. Not many skill checks, but lots of slaughter. Kinda got dull after a while since all I'd do is bust in with a Machete Gladius or a Super Sledge and bust caps and skulls.

It's hilarious how weak the Legionaires were at the final battle. I have NCR Rearmament and the Caesar's New Regime mods both active and I think it might favor the NCR a bit. That or charging rapid firing troopers with machetes and shiskebabs is a bad idea when you're wearing light armor.

...

Fucking ingrates.

Have you stopped being a degenerate?

I guess you could make a case for stims, but I have a heart condition.

If you calm him a flaming faggot you have no idea what flaming is. A faggot sure but a flaming one hardly

Does the NCR Rearmament mod make them too strong? Basic kit has +15 fire resist, +5 survival, and +5 sneak and a base 16 DT.

ncr soldiers themselves are dogshit, they cant aim and do zippo damage

16 DT is quite high depending on how you have the game setup though, how does that compare to the standard equipment?

how can i mod to game so i can play a cock sucking femboy like op?

Default armor has 10 DT. The modded stuff is about equivalent to Brotherhood of Steel Recon Armor and the modded Legion kit only has 14 DT (and no bonuses). The elite Legionaires have something like 16 DT with +5 Melee and Crit.

What's the best survival mod? The normal survivor mode is too simple/easy.

loverslab

T-thanks.

Why does everybody on the newvegasnexus seem to have such a hardon for AlChestBreach? There are Alchestbreach companions, Alchestbreach cameos and references in questmods, Alchestbreach houses, Alchestbreach statues.

What's up with that?

LIGHT ARMOR
30 DT

Oh, was it made for a youtuber or something? I wasn't aware, my bad.

...

You get a kit that you use at a workbench. A suit + five scrap metal = power armor. It doesn't look any different, or at least Benny's doesn't. The perk requires 100 repair to get.

that kiddie shit belongs in fallout 3&4. that's why no one gives a shit about them and NV is still talked about daily.

is this the first turk character in a game? i think it is

Am I going to die Holla Forums?

this

Sorry, I meant to say:

Why not get some mods that make combat faster for both sides and ditch the shitty survival mechanics? Food and water are plentiful as anything in NV - it's just added tedium.

Issat a mod? New Vegas seems almost too easy on its own and I wanna fix that.

No, it's in the base game.

I have the Jsawyer mod and since I made my character a cowboy that uses his trusty revolver I have a mod that allows me to turn any weapon into a signature weapon which you can level up by using it for long enough, so I can basically kill most enemies with a few shots but without being too overpowered, as heavily armored opponents still take quite a few hits.

look behind you

Phew, just another Legion squad.

Aside from the helmets, everything about Caesar's New Legion looks so much better. The armor actually looks functional instead of like kids playing a game of pretend.

What I don't like about that mod is that none of the new armors look makeshift and the legion loses much of it's charm because of that.

I think it makes more sense for a faction that's supposedly abandoning the old world to start forging their own gear and weapons. Self sufficiency and survival, right? Caesar does have an auto-doc and his praetorians use powerfists so maybe it fits. Fucking hypocrites.

Apropos of nothing, anyone else think Victor shoulda been a companion who works with you as long as you're on good terms with House?

He was supposed to be. Benny was, too.

I never liked Victor, his whole shtick got old quick.

No. Benny wasn't.

What was cut from the game is his final confrontation with you, where after you save his ass multiple times, he declares you sick in the head, and attacks you directly with a mob of mercenaries.

Shit, you're right. My bad. Who was the other cut companion then?

It's the face of Vegas, that'd be like hating Big Tex or the Statue of Liberty.

We will never get a Fallout based off of Escape from New York.

Vulpes, I think.

ulysses

Ulysses. There's even a mod that re-adds him as one, if you spare his black ass.

Holy shit, he's supposed to be Vegas Vic? I had no idea, still, bastard just kept following me around.

Is it just me, or is Hardcore more trouble than it's worth? I like some aspects of it, but ammo having weight and needing a doctor's bag or a doctor to heal limbs is just too much for me.

The former makes low Strength characters painful while the latter means I'm walking around with broken limbs most of the time- or rushing to the nearest settlement to get patched up.

Oh, right, and Companions can die. It's tough enough keeping them on their feet normally, I don't want to have to reload everytime Boone doesn't move out of the way of a Cazador.

It doesn't really make the game harder, it's just more frustrating, in my opinion.

i find it works well if you turn the damage way up for everyone. then you have a game of balancing your weight with what you can expect to find out in the world, not to mention manging food and water etc., which pushes you to have to be a better shooter. for example, if i only bring 20 .44s with me i have enough room for other stuff, but i better not miss

That would be fun if this were a game where you could use skill to avoid damage. But no matter what you do, you're going to take some bullets to the chest, so making those bullets do a shit ton of damage is just annoying.

Interestingly, Daniel's Outfit becomes heavy armor with 25 DT

Is Junk Rounds the biggest waste of a perk in the game?
My current playthrough includes ammo overhauls, a side effect of which is that any given ammo is more scarce since there are so many more types. I've thus been doing a lot more hand loading. Seeing as primers can be a bitch to come by, I decided to get Junk Rounds not knowing the details of what it does.
I don't know how anyone at Obsidian could consider 5 tin cans and a scrap metal per individual cartridge to be a reasonable cost.

Thats not "Here and Now" or the XP increasing perks but its definitely a waste of a perk

How the fuck do I turn this shit off? I hate mouse acceleration so much, makes it literally impossible to get used to a mouse's sensitivity.

The trick is to kill them before they can land a shot, or kill them before they notice you.

Top kek. Jsawyer supposedly increases this, but still I've never taken it. I'd say Explorer and Alertness are also fucking worthless.

Simply add the following four lines under the [Controls] section of Fallout_default.ini in the installation directory of NV.

fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0

It should then look like this:

[Controls]
bAlwaysRunByDefault=1
bBackground Mouse=0
bBackground Keyboard=1
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0
