I finally got everything installed and most of the mods working, so I went ahead and downloaded a "post-apocalyptic" world. It's the island map, but with almost all of the lots stripped out and some ruins strewn about. There is a grand total of one road going through town, and it barely goes through it at that. You've gotta swim to get to most of the islands and the careers are limited.

I accidentally kicked all the homeless out of town when I started, so I'm afraid that my sim is the only person left on the island. I was trying to make a proper island slut, but that won't work if she's the only person in town.

Oh well, whatever. Rate my house, fags.

I think I asked it a long time ago, but you can't start with a relatively blank world and populate it like if a town is starting to be built, right? Or even place lots away from the roads.

The world I'm playing on only has 2 roads and a shit ton of empty lots strewn around various islands.
It's sort of weird going to those roads, though. Nobody's really got any homes yet, so it's just an endless stream of taxi cars driving up and down the same road forever.

I don't think I fully understand the question. Do you mean starting with an empty world, and then building lots with people moving in autonomously? You can do that, but you have to make sure you plan in advance where everything is going, otherwise you're going to have a shitload of routing issues. Which leads me on to the next question;

Yes you can. But again, watch out for routing issues. Like building on a hill that's too steep. A sim may stop act like there's an obstacle in the way. This is because the hill is so steep that the route towards the house has been cut off.

I tried to go for something like an old mechanic's shop refurbished into a moderately comfortable home.

We're too poor to have real ceilings yet, sadly.

we make a base landscape, someone else makes the layout of the roads and props and collectible spawners, someone else does the BASE skeletal city with just the rabbitholes and central park with no inhabitants, and then individual users make houses with families and empty houses. then the final map with the premade families and all the rabbitholes and whatnot would be released. it would have to only use basegame content however, so as to be compatible with every sims 3 client

Once you understand how it works and start putting down lots of items to work on, going to work is pretty fun. My doctor is currently the only one in town he seriously has 0 coworkers, but I'm still enjoying dicking around at the little hut we all use for a hospital. I recolored some lab tech and, voila, it looks like my sim is trying to rediscover the lost science of medicine! Plus he gains job performance for doing it.

Ultimate Careers is really great. My vampire heir went to school, discovered a moon, took a shit, and now he's playing with the only other boy in town.
It's a bit wonky since there don't seem to be any teachers assigned yet, so these kids basically show up to a mostly abandoned school and dick around all day.

also note, I really like the Neurotic/Over Emotional combination. both traits seem negative or at least neutral but they can actually have really solid positive effects on your sim. Over-emotional boosts every moodlet's gain/penalty by 20%, meaning something +10 becomes +12 and something -10 becomes -12, etc.

I don't know how it works in Kinkyworld, but in Ultimate Careers, you just send the kid to school and they can walk around and interact with things just like they can on any other lot. Certain items will raise your grades, while being on the lot causes a slow degradation, which drops like a fucking rock if you're skipping school. Seriously, you'll lose almost an entire bar's worth of progress if you play hooky for too long.

I mistook it for something NRAAS related so I looked it up. I don't suppose anyone has a set of buildings preset to work with the mod do they? All I can do is 4 walls and a roof and the way Sims 3 worlds are built (EA and custom), the limiting terrain and road placements make building lots a pain in the ass not worth bothering with. And I have custom careers and at least 2 other mods that conflict with it.

It's a very mixed bag. It's got middling amounts of content compared to the first three even with expansions. Shit's still dodgy like turning off free will doesn't really work and sims still do stupid shit on their own. Sims have this shiny plastic look to them (especially their hair) and 99% of their stock clothing is all hipster wear so you need a fuckload of clothing mods to make sure at least some of your sims don't look like San Francisco. Trannyshit, enough said. It's a little more loli friendly than the last 2 if anyone cares about that. The sex mod is showing promise and isn't as clunky as Sims 3's KinkyWorld. It's basically like someone took a chunk of The Sims 2 and updated it for modern times and then tried to nickel and dime you more than ever before
