like russia or serbia or singapor?
Does other countries dub video games in english or in their own language?

Are you retarded
The main language spoken is English. Game stores these days stock everything from JP, NA, EU or Asian (HK) edition for region-free consoles. Asian editions are a mixed bag, can come in JP text & audio with Eng/Chn translated menus and manual, fully-translated into Chinese with JP audio, fully-translated into Eng (basically the NA version), dual translation into Eng/Chn (this was mostly the 360 games) or anything in-between.
I did see an absolute madman make a custom voice pack for Counterstrike in Hokkien gangster slang once, though.
My PS2 library was 95% NA bootlegs, because some idiot at Sony apparently thought all of East Asia spoke Jap or chink.
In Brazil, they dub shit.
Like Mortal Kombat X. They had a singer dub Sonya and it was a fucking shitshow.
Dubs in general are shit-tier and should be verboten.
...
X-Blades and Blades of Time are better in english than russian, despite being originally russian games.
You know the problem when a bunch of people voice everything? Well in russia this is even bigger of a problem - we literally have 3 dudes and 2 women to voice everything ever, from movies to tv shows to games.
And 6th one with unique voice, so you can't really use him for anything other than narration.
So yeah, russian dubbing sucks.
I'm pretty sure he means whether a given country just keeps the English dub when something brought over there, or dubs over it in their own language.
But there are examples of a foreign country doing their own English dubs. Admittedly this one is anime and not vidya. Fucking hilarious all the same though.
...
In Poland Baldur's Gate is a cult classic, because of polish dub. It was in the begining of 2000s (or maybe at the end of 1990s?). Back then polish actors treated themselves as some kind of nobility. There were tiers of nobleness of their craft:
Those in movies and theatres never, ever done commercials, because they thought of it as degrading. Then the vidya started to get audience and someone at cd projekt decided to hire top actors to do Baldur's Gate. They hired Piotr Fronczewski as narrator (his polish equivalent to Morgan Freeman). Now whenever anybody here says: "zanim wyruszysz w droge, powinienes zebrac druzyne", he always try to emulate that performance.
When remastered version hit the shelves, many people were dissapointed that it was without polish original dub and after playing this version, I must say: english dub sucks donkey ass.
The original German dub for BG was atrocious. They hired random retard nobodies and gave various NPCs thick regional accents.
Bulgaria dubs tv shows, cartoons, anime. I don't think anyone invests into videogames here since people mostly play CSGO, Dota, Fifa and LoL.
No games are getting dubbed in Serbia, sometimes game cases (backside) get translated. There's a translation patch for Stalker I saw somewhere.
Over here we had god tier dubbers for some cartoons. Spongebob, Ren and Stimpy, Penguins of Madagascar, TMNT and Dragon Ball for example all had excellent dubs. Especially Ren and Stimpy. Not only voice actors were great but they changed some lines, so there were no jokes that would only be understandable for US audiences. Context was changed so it was extra funny for the region it was played on. They would play around and add more to the jokes this way. It was quite amazing. Anime dubs were mostly miss. Live shows like Power Rangers were subbed.
Germans and Italians dub everything to my knowledge, even live action shit, there was even a german dub for Metallica song somewhere
I'm struggling to see the problem here.
I played some old PC games in BR because this fucking country. Starcraft was especially bad because BW wasn't redubbed so several unit quotes and cinematics were still in English.
In general russian dubbing sucks but there are exceptions like Warcraft III or Witcher series. Warcraft III dub was good, maybe a bit better than original, but russian Witcher is simply superior to english, russian is just too good for swearing and banter.
There is only one russian version that i can think of as superior and that's Postal 2
And then there's FO3 which is actually arguably better than english version only by virtue of it being so fucking shit you really need to try to outdo it.
Репетур на репетуре едет и репетуром погоняет
Br do have some cool dubs. SC2 had really good dubs, but it wasn't a good game.
Let's Start with Max Payne BR
Smite Zeus BR
LoL Caitlyn BR
Dubbing shit it's kind of an american meme.
Most non-english speakers prefer watching movies or playing videogames with their original soundtrack and (at most) subtitles, as watching something dubed is taken as a child-like fixation.
I got your dubs right here
SC 2 First dub BR
In France evey dubs sucks and French people are too stupid and elitist to learn English so we have the majority of the young people who watch everything dubbed, movies, video-games etc…
We also have the French equivalent(s) of Adam Sandler who are always doing voices for everything (I put an S because literally 90% of French humoristic comedians are Adam Sandler tier).
It pains me to see people my age struggling with English because schools are shit at it, I had bad grades in English classes because teachers gave better ones to people who presented their work well even if it was full of errors and you could just win points by raising your hand and say "I don't understand" because that meant you knew what the sentence "I don't understand" was used for.
THIS
If you can't listen to the original language of the source material, you are a casual babby.
Same goes for Spain my fellow neighbour. Even major cities like Madrid or Barcelona have few (3-5) cinemas where movies play with the original language and subtitles. Everything and I mean evertything is dubbed. For some reason we have a habit of changing movie names too for some reason. For example the series
Is translated as
Its absolutely baffling.
It's because the French are asinine language purists who won't dare stand for a change in their language! So is my dad who while bitching about English word use in Dutch is also hell-bound on sucking the dick of the British because of their received pronunciation, even though that shit was a fabrication of the 1950s monarchy.
I had a friend once tell me American English is closer to old English than British English due to the immense isolation experienced in the Americas and thus less bastardization taking place.
Luckily I'm Dutch, everyone here speaks English and most either don't care or suck 'murica dick, which is bad in it's own ways.
At least I'm not a snaggletoothed, sodomy-loving limey bleeder.
In France sometimes they replace an english title with another english title.
"The Hangover" for example was renamed "Very Bad Trip"
"The Good Guys" became "Very Bad Cops"
"The Fighter" became "Fighter"
"Cruel Intentions" became "Sexe Intentions"
As for video games, most of them are dubbed in french, Rockstar's games however always have subtitles.
Or you know, have no reason to learn a foreign language? Why should English become some world language? Sounds like you support globalism.
Sometimes.
That dub is actually not approved by Toei, and is essentially a bootleg
But English was the original language you Pollack faggot.
Nope.
only specific childrens game and movie license games gets Swedish dubs. Although anybody above the age of 5 knows english in sweden anyway so its alright.
BR here
Games are either english or with rare exceptions dubbed outside the country since everyone in the dubbing business is shit
Isn't fucking everything dubbed in Spain and Germany, even live-action?
For some reason I now want to see a video with something just dubbed over with a stream of HUEHUEHUEing, but still with the right intonations/length for what was originally being said.
Huh, wasn't aware of that. Also, you can respond to more than one post at a time.
I shouldn't be surprised.
Germany and Russia do. Some other countries do too.
But most don't.
KEK
Spanish here, can confirm we dub the everloving shit out of everything. Its pretty bad, but the average spaniard cant speak english so its not changing any time soon
Same goes for Russia.
I fucking hate being Russian for this and no-fucking-body knows English.
I can't even discuss most of my favorite games with my countrymen because they haven't been fucking translated.
But cyka, all the important ones have been translated:
LoL
Dota2
FIFA XXXX
Need for Speed
Sims
CS:GO GO MICROTRANSACTIONS
and Mineycrafta!
The Germans dub most things and are not good at it, though only mainstream games get a dub or even a translation. Lots of people watch the english version instead since the Germans are pretty good at English.
t. German
Sounds like you only know shitters. Most of the people I know who watch tv shows or movies watch them in english and are often obnoxious about it and those who don't simply aren't educated and do manual or mechanical labor. Games are another story though.
Russian Gurren Laggan - Kamina voice actor.
Eh, the LoK series dubbing was top notch.
And Metal Gear Solid 1. God that was awesome.
Russian games used to do that, but barely anyone does that anymore. The witcher series did that, so did all AssCreed games, but in the latest asscreed only main characters are translated and citizens speak in english. Dragon Age Origins had a dub that I liekd more than original, ME1 had an awful dub, later bioware games didn't have a dub at all.
all game are in French ( french dub is terrible)
all anime had a great arabic dub, now there no more dub 'cause Syria was doing the dub :'(
...
You know what the worst dubs are? The ones where you can still hear the original language and it clashes with dub. How did that ever become widespread and acceptable?
I always read English subs, which inevitably raises an eyebrow or two.
Most localisation rights in russia owned buy Hyper Jews "1C company" who use a google/free translator.
So Russian dub not existent or awfully implemented buy МХАТ college students for 3$ per hour.
Depends on the game. If it's AAA, they redub it, if it's in lower budget, they only translate subtitles.
I've been playing everything in English for 15 years now anyway. Translations suck dick and dubs even more so.
What kind of prehistoric shithole do you live in? Where I live almost everybody knows english well enough to play vidya and watch movies untranslated.
Remember times when fargus was on market, and it made silly names for games they don't know how to translate?
They translated "Fallout" into "Rebirth".
That's the difference between translations and localizations.
Fun fact: GECK became KoSoGoR, which as a word means "mountain ridge" and as an acronym stands for "a kit for creating a paradise city".
>watch anime with my ex
>re:zero is now named "a new life in another world starting from zero"
Never fucking again.
Witcher is better because it was originally in Polish, not English. Polish is much closer to Russian, so the translation is naturally much smoother.
The pop shield won't prevent plosives if she's that close.
I actually like localization that uses the regional accents. Like fishermen speaking in a stereotypical northern dialect or farmers speaking bavarian. Or nobility having a vienna accent. Though I must agree that the BG2 dub fucking sucks.
Best animeme dub coming through
most of nonasian foreign anime subs are just poorly based on english subs and made by underages who attend to anime clubs
now have them add their own fucking memes on top of crunchy/commie retardation and you'll have a recipe for disaster
source: i watched first two minutes of watamote with polish subs, never again
What kind of a sheltered, uncultured autist are you? Shit gets dubbed almost literally everywhere. The only reason subs are more common in some places, is because it's cheaper, not because of some imaginary anti-dub mentality.
It wasn't the monarchy, it was the middle classes desperate to separate themselves from the lower classes. The actual upper class never had the need to pretend.

Does anyone know what the Japanese think of Japanese dubs?
You're welcome.
...
...
Are you retarded
no, it was ok, but not bad.
You'd be surprised
LoGH subs are pretty decent
You were doing fine until >crunchyroll
At least use kissanime if you're going to stream. Much better quality unless you actually give CR money
Crunchyroll subs could mean Horriblesubs, or any other encoder that uses their subs though.
...
I torrented horriblesubs which take their subs from cruchyroll. Fuck off.
Now have some Serbian Vegeta
Except their shit looks worse than Crunchyroll, not to mention they just take fansubs that you can torrent in better quality.
Moscow.
В Краснодаре стоит сказать пару английских слов и все уже считают что у тебя высшее образование
Some games get dub, but not all. Most have only the subtitles. I can't name a game with bad polish dub except for serious Sam 1. Gothic, max Payne, Warcraft 3… Very professional voice, usually done by real movie actors
It can be worse: the times we get games dubbed in European Portuguese. To most Brazilians, that accent is just hilarious!
That's totally different dub than the one I used to watch. I clearly remember goku and bulma having different (and better) actors.
Depends, series big enough will do it, sometimes hiring known voice actors or real actors. And cheap fucks will pretend it's an artistic choice to keep the english voice just to save some money.
Dark Souls
Metal Gear Solid
I guess you saw the redub they did much later
MGS English dub was done in America, Dark Souls was done in the UK
I think RE was English dubbed in Japan.
they actually found one of the people who did dubs for agapio for an interview. their fucker of a CEO just had his kid do a lot of the dubs.
It takes less effort overall to learn English than to search for translations each time you want to read a scientific article. It's just laziness for me, plain and simple.
It was. In fact the guy that played Chris also played Richter in Symphony of the Night.
Dragon Ball voices are the same ones from previous shows like TMNT and some others, for example the guy that voiced Donatello from TMNT is same voice as Vegeta and guy that voiced Splinter in TMNT is same voice as Roshi (Turtle Hermit)
Most of them are famous actors and they said they wouldnt joke around so much if they knew Dragon Ball would become so insanely popular (first episode aired on New Year)
The original Serbian dub was a shitshow regardless. If you can't tell, it was recorded in a studio that wasn't sound proofed properly and there was no monitor for playback so they couldn't see if they match lip flaps. These are things that could've been avoided if a better crew was hired.
I bought a Chinese (Hong kong) Import of a PSP game once. They basically shipped the game in English with an instruction book in Ching Chong telling them what the menu options meant in Middle Kingdom Moon Runes.
You do realize that those voices come from voice actors, right? The 3D models aren't actual people, they're just polygons.
Ahh! El pergamino horadrico perdido! Que gran cambio en los acontecimientos!
atleast the original japanese music was present, american music for DB was horrible
You're Welcome, perhaps you will learn to speak PROPER Spanish.
t.spaniard
fuccboi
I wouldn't complain if you weren't so shit at it, listen to the DB opening, stuff doesn't even rhyme.
youtube.com
On the latin american dub, both the singer and lyrics are way better
youtube.com
And that's not mentioning the actual translations, it's like they were using google translator for some games.
For example in Age of Wonders, they translated "One turn left" to "Uno gira a la izquierda".
Older games have many mistakes like that, they eventually got their shit together, the only thing that I like from the translations is the acting which I think tends to be solid, with cartoons and animes, that's a whole different story, but with video games I never complained, now I play my games in English, but back then I had no choice but to listen to the games in Spanish.
Except original DB kept the Jap music you serbian cuck
i said our version kept the original japanese music which was good because americans created their own music for DB and that was horrible.
For Z and GT there was custom music, but apparently you're a lazy nigger who didn't watch the embed. Funimation kept the original music for DB when they dubbed it.
pretty sure they didnt, they changed it later to jap version during reruns because nobody liked the american music
Nigger, are you not watching what I fucking embed? Funimation always kept the original music when dubbing original Dragon Ball.
Confirmed for never living in America. Their replacement soundtrack was always used when it was airing on TV and on the original single. The only time they put the Japanese music back i for the dub of Z and GT was when they released the cropped Orange Brick DVDs.
The Faulconer music was the best thing in their mediocre dub. kys nigger. And at least Funimation knew how to mix audio unlike your shit serb dub where you can hear actors dropping shit and flipping through scripts while not maintaining sync with the lip flap.
we are talking about DB not DBZ
In which case, you're a retard, as DB's music wasn't replaced. I don't know why even arguing this anyway, not only did the English dub keep the original music, we could actually hear it unlike the serb cuck dub
The first Witcher game was dubbed in Hungarian, and although I haven't played it, but what little I've seen and heard was ebin. Really ebin. Also Warcraft 3 had a whole fan dub. I don't know how they managed it, but it exists.
i have no idea what you are talking about or why you are attacking me, are you high or drunk ?
You saying the English of DB had its music replaced, and being wrong about it when I've posted examples to prove you're incorrect.
Proving someone wrong in an argument on the internet isn't an attack, don't be such a cuck.
nigger you posted the rerun dub which i said got japanese soundtrack back because they got negative feedback from muricunt music
but sure keep backpedalling and insulting me because you are an idiot who jerks off to MURICA FUK YEAH meme
Not even that user but you're retarded. There was no music differences between Japanese DB and American DB.
At least learn to stop posting or admit you were wrong when proven so.
Fargus had dope fucking translations, the fags who used their names to sell their shit didn't.
Now you're just making shit up. The only other dub before Funimation's dub was the late 80s Harmony Gold dub that ended after 5 episodes (which also kept the original score), and the 1995 dub produced in Canada that did have a replacement score but ended after 13 episodes because it aired at 5 in the morning and no one could watch.
No, they cancelled that mid 90s Canadian dub because they couldn't get enough people to watch it at the crack of dawn.
And then Funimation decided in the early 2000s to dub Dragon Ball with their in-house staff, with a new (uncut but still slightly rewritten) translation and KEPT THE ORIGINAL MUSIC.
For being this wrong you deserve to be insulted you stupid nigger. Hope Serbia gets into the EU soon so you can have immigrant Paki's tear you a new asshole. In the meantime, have more of your shit dub.
Is this vodka speak for "I wish I could speak English?"
And don't forget Final Fantasy VII translation.
