Reference to the song "Maneater" by Hall & Oates.

...

You know, memes and pop culture references!

That's a perfectly acceptable reference.

Because it's a good song

Wait, was this in the first Ys? I honestly didn't remember this part at all.

Pop cultural references that transcend decades =! internet memes that date themselves after a week

Here come dat girl. O shit whaddup!

A popular song from a prolific 80's band is on the same cultural level than shitty kleenex 5 year old meme spawned from sub-sub-sub otaku-culture image macro

kys

It's okay when it's something that i like!.

By that logic nothing should ever reference anything.
Meme != References

Kill yourself Ireland.

eh, it's not as bad as that one picture of the Zelda Link Between Worlds North American localization. I don't have it saved, you know which one I'm talking about.

...

It's the lyrics to a Hall and Oats song.

Localization depends on a number of things OP.
Like context, tone and spirit of the text.

Sometimes Nips write shit that no one outside of their country would get if directly translated, so translators have to attempt creating an equivalent substitute, and there are cases where there is no substitute and something has to be put in that place anyway.

So, what was the original text? Was it a reference to a Nip song or joke?

gamefaqs.com/boards/933329-the-legend-of-heroes-trails-in-the-sky/61881559 i've found this

Someone send a mail to legendsoflocalization.com/ so they can compare it to the original script.

I don't see the problem.

I'll try.
