So what happened to that user that wanted a Holla Forums Squadron doing the Campaign in co-op on Freespace?

Elite Dangerous mostly and some Starsector

How is Star Sector? What makes it compelling compared to other 2D space games?

Spreadsheets in space

I'd really like it more if the Industry feature was implemented. Also I've used dev console to fully upgrade my character and having a massive fucking space fleet is extremely hard.

Rogue Drones shit always disturbed me, especially those Dominixs with moving parts.

Good choice

If you want PVP right away find a Corp in Factional Warfare. Its been a while but I think one of the EVE Radio DJs still does Frog Gallente FW fleets. Goons are either controlling Caldari or Amarr, most likely Amarr.

To be fair, that was awhile ago. Now I'm chilling in E-Uni and just shooting the shit with stuff. Lonetrek was comfy though, and I'll probably move back once I had my fun.

Alt for FW soon.

Goon pet!

Go to Provi and get BTFO pls

Does Warframe count as space vidya?

What about System Shock 2?
I just finished that one. It was very good.
People that complain about the maintenance system must really suck at vidya.

I'm planning to play some Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion today.
Does anyone have any recommended mods?

DarkSpace is still alive. Too bad the servers are all but deserted.
But they're free to play and download, and the servers are run by a few old dedicated fans.
I bet we could take over the place if we wanted to.

I just started playing Battlefleet Gothic recently and it's been pretty fun so far. I struggled at first but i've started to get the hang of it now and just started using ships with lances to take out shields before raking them with close range macro cannon broadsides. Ramming is also fun as shit and the best way to deal with smaller escort ships or convoys. I loved the trailer for this game, they really nailed the 40K feeling I usually enjoyed in Dawn of war.

I'm also about to start Rebel galaxy again. I never finished it on PC but I just got it for free on PS4 so i'm going to give it a go on that and try to actually finish it this time. Any advice for grinding money without extensive pirating? I usually prefer doing a lawful playthrough instead of being pirate scum but remember it taking a while to upgrade my ship.

As many times as I played this game I couldn't get into it for too long coz some hardcore fan would just hop into his ayylmao bugger dreadnought and come back to get revenge on his long-time arch nemesis on my side. In the end I became nothing but cannon fodder, which gets boring quickly.

REMINDER THAT NORDIC GAMES BOUGHT THE NEXUS: TJI TITLE AND UPDATED THE 12 (TWELVE)-YEAR-OLD GAME
Seriously though. It was (probably IS)on sale for 2-something bucks and everyone's an idiot for not showing love. They are considering making the long-awaited sequel

Have a vid explaining the disaster that is Star Citizen

Pretty good video lad

Yer, I actually gave money to Star Citizen, but I'm too apathetic to get a refund tbh. The Project really has been handled poorly.

Get Starwars warlord and serve the empire

Been playing Rebel Galaxy since it's "free" for PS4 this month. Honestly kinda dig it, really like that it pretty much stole the broadside combat from AssCreed Black Flag. Not a fan of not being able to go up and down in fucking SPACE while anything smaller than a corvette can, but it's not a major deal breaker for me. This game sure as fuck has some repetitiveness to it though, because I've probably heard every line from every non-story mission npc within the first hour. And the merc I hired never shuts up about making the enemy "taste the black".
Also I can't help but notice every single fucking captain of a militia frigate is female, including the story related one I meet early on, so are the 'good guys' of this game composed of just nothing but feminazis in space?

...

They can't just say shit like motion control space flight and leave it hanging. Blue ballsed as fuck over here.

Good taste.

Did they ever fix ship boarding?

...

I concur fellow user the supreme taste.
It's the objectively correct answer.
Nothing beats a space shotgun.

The whole "risk marines to capture a defeated ship" thing?
I get that prompt so rarely that I've never once actually tried boarding a ship. No idea if that counts as broken to you.
At this point I'd say marines are more useful as a trade good than as marines.

Space Engine 0.9.8.0 is out. There’s apparently the beginnings of procedurally generated vegetation, but it’s only on one type of planet and it’s the rarest out there.

You truly are wise men. Ragnarov titan best titan.

I noticed that too, but shrugged it off as its a low budget game. Can't really play it without playing my own music since the game has like what, 5 different tracks?

How steep is the learning curve?

How fun is the campaign in star sector currently? I played it maybe the second? release after campaign was introduced and while I admit it was interesting exploring the relations and lore and shit, I had more fun actually playing the scenarios over it, mostly because the campaign battles either involved the same few pirate craft, or a gorilla hueg rape fleet that wipes my dinky three ship "fleet." I also saw no reason to degrade the faction relationships between the two major groups because a pirated cargo vessel of industrial machinery isn't worth cutting ties with the biggest markets in the game

EXPAND AND EXTERMINATE

There's proper faction relation mechanics implemented now, so you can't just get rich and go buy an Onslaught or a Paragon. You have to trade (legally) with factions, fight with them, and claim bounties on their foes to gain access to their equipment and ships. Outside of that, the Luddic Church/Path have a presence in the sector, alongside a new faction (the Sindrian Diktat).
There's still no end-game or industry in vanilla, but if you install Nexerelin (the Floris mod equivalent), you essentially have a complete experience.
Devs are still working on other mechanics, so no telling when 1.0 will arrive.

I played some Stellaris a bit when it came out - a bit boring but I made up for it by setting my own goals like replacing all the xeno scum in the galaxy with humans.

Then the game broke around the end with the crisises and I just threw the towel in - haven't touched Stellaris since.

Is it any good now Holla Forums?

As a slight derailment, does anyone here happen to have the LotGH drinking game image? I can't find it anywhere but I don't want to start a thread somewhere just as a request.

Actual 3D veggies? I must know more.

There's a new update for Nexus?

So is Space Engineers worth it right now?

It's Minecraft autistism in space, be prepared to learn the basics of pipeline functionality and correct autistic builds if you want to make any ships that work.

Steam workshop prebuilds can show you the basics of functional ships.

Get ready to REEEE when your idea doesn't translate to actual game build.

My opinion at the $ 20 price range it is well worth it.

Speaking of space engineers, is there way to make mining ships collect all the ore rocks that pop out when mining? I'm tired of having to jump out my ship to collect uranium ores that fly out when mining in my ship.

Yes, plenty of pre-builds will show you how to create hoovers at the front, but autistically having to set up pipelines is sometimes annoying.

Hoovers ->refinery -> storage

but then have to set up the pipe system and power systems to accommodate this.

Just check out steam workshop pre-builds and slowly disassemble them to learn the basics.

I love Space Engineers but everytime I go to make a ship I always end up forgetting something. I fix it hop back into the cockpit and then find I didn't do something else. That and it gets boring without playing with anyone else.

Care to post some images? I cant be bothered to browse Steams awful workshop interface and search engine. That shit is fucking terrible, just like the rest of steam

You mean science-fiction thread.

You betrayed your uniform and this guy comes at you.

What do?

Put on some shiny black overalls, say "I'm from Section 31", and punch the Pajeet doctor in the face and say it was a test of character.

Then leave the station.

swallow?

...

What's the closest thing to Mount and Blade In space?

I started playing Aurora 4X, with conventional tech.
Got 2 small colonies on 2 moons, I filled Mercury with automated mines.
I researched any Engine and Missile/Kinetic tech I could get under 8000RP, now I feel somewhat ready to leave the solar system.

There is a higher up male who looks like the guys who commands the Battlecruisers in starcraft, he only shows up near the end of the game, story is so fucking short. I KINDA want some dlc.
Once you find a good nebula that gives rare face of whatever everytime, money becomes easy to get since you can reset the spawns by changing galaxies.
Also I fell in love with the soundtrack.

Be prepared to have you ass anally raped by swamp dog people.

Keep missiles below size 5. Anti-missile missiles should always be size 1. Remember to make the missile fire control work the same distance as the missile's endurance.

Don't build massive military ships right away. 10,000 ton frigates will do in the beginning.

Always make you commercial ships as fuel efficient as possible.

Don't fuck with swamp dog people

I may have went a bit to fat then, AMM are ok but I made my ASM (size 6, WH9, 16k km/s, about 60% hit chance on 5k km/s target).
Combat ships are 12k tons, 10 AMM laucher, 6 ASM launcher 5 armor layers, 10 shield strength, 1CIWS.
My plan was to make a similarly shielded Exploration/Tanker/Supply/Collier 18k tons ship, give it 4 of the above one as escort and send them explore the galaxy for the next 4 years.

Starsector. It's not finished, though.

Casuals.

This game is absolute garbage. I regrew purchasing it.

The 18k ship is also the jump tender, and the size 6 missiles have 0.5 ECM.

do you have the loli mothership vs loli Vaygr Battlecruiser?

The CIWS only protects the ship that it is on. You could make a meson cannon turret that can protect the entire fleet from missiles.

With shields that low, you could probably drop it and add another layer.

Having a ship escort won't help much when you encounter an alien force. They'll always outnumber you and the initial contact is always with your crew evaporation and melting into the ships hull. I've found that it's best to have a sizable fleet stationed on Earth that can respond when needed.

I-is there such a thing?

I only have this bentus

So, it's worth it to have a dedicated anti-missile ship.
At which point is it worth it to invest in shield screening ? 12,15,20 ?

I have a philosophy that they can't kill all of my ships, so I have not made any AM-Ship. There are many graveyards in space.

40 works well. 20 can't withstand much of a barrage.

I thought my body was ready, it isn't.
Thanks for the warning.

At least you didn't lose over 100,000 soldiers and sailors in a futile attempt to tame swamp dog people.

How many ships did they have ? The listing goes off-screen.

More than me.

Canine Castration is now mandatory in my empire.

ALRIGHT. I'm willing to set up a Fleet for the few of us who play.

What should we name it?

Jesus.

Fleet for STO.

It looks kinda neat. Any torrents for it? I can't find any on Extrator.

kat.am/starsector-0-7-2a-rc1-t12166690.html

Oh shit, kat still has mirrors up? I didn't know this, thank you user.

Polite sage for off topic

yep

Another excellent sermon by pastor Charles Lawson.

...

Yeah, I just ran into this bullshit. It's another fake mirror.

Thanks user.

god damn it I thought that was a good mirror. Try kat.al

It seems to suffer from the same problem as the original owners of the kat.am mirror, who now own kickass.mx and kickass.cd, No search function and alot of pages are unavailable.

Damn shame, but I guess I'll have to wait until the next torrent giant pops up.

were you able to get the magnet link though?

Was whatever you regrew vital for your health?

Dang.

Speaking of EVE, how's it doing now that Goonswarm been reamed off the face of the Earth?

No, no magnet link either. It's a damn shame too, it seemed like a good time waster.

Goons are moving to Scam Yiddizen now. All their territory has been broken up among many factions, but as someone who finds normal spreadsheets annoying, let alone space ones, I don't know the specifics.

space thread. what are best space station design? most realistic? feasible? dumb but coolest?

Those are some heavy feels user.

dx-torrent.com/starsector-0-7-2a-rc1-t12166690.html

There I checked, you can grab it off this one. Have NoScript active though the site likes popups.

Mandate when

Never.

2001: A Space Odyssey

They're more pissed that their Kikestarter for their book didn't work out. Honestly, I'm on one of my breaks. It's a game I can only play in 3 month bouts before taking a year off nowadays. I can only assume PL is becoming the new Goons.

I came across this, holy shit when TEST assrapes you like this you know you're close to failcascade: zkillboard.com/related/30004740/201608071900/

That's nothing special,, Goons really don't know how to fight.

starbound

You know, it didn't even occur to me that this game was pretty much an indie game but I should expect as much from PS+ games I guess. That would explain a lot of the flaws. Not excuse them of course, but I now understand why it's lacking.

Christ, is the story really so short? I thought the amount of different systems was a decent number. Now I'm worried that most of my time will be spent padding out the game myself by being a space jew for most of it, hoarding soy paste for any possible famines just to make money off of.

True, but it's against TEST. Most nullbabies don't know how to fight, save for PL.

Lol Holy shit. Not even ProviBloc can fail that hard.

Yup, but Goonswarm have been notorious for always being poor fighters. Even during the "Second Great War" Goons were unable to beat BoB and it was mostly Ruskies that killed BoB and the Goons taking credit. They literally took credit for shit they never did.

Nope.

Describe your dream space game, user.

What type of gameplay/mechanics?

A better question would be will it ever be good?

probably once the plethora of complete overhauls come out

Fucking Stellaris mid/late game

The sector AI is so fucking dumb I just made me able to hold 999 sectors
And fuck not having a button to queue upgrade everything

Funny how the most fun thing about the game is being able to purge xenos.

Also, auto modes for construction and science ships should be a thing. I wonder if it's not possible, since plenty of the stuff on those text files are scripts in some shitty language they made up

Star Citizen but real

All I ever wanted was more Freelancer. More ships, bigger galaxy, bigger capital ships, more quests.

But Chris Roberts is too busy making a NASA simulator.

You mean a project with massive funding, no end in sight and really slow progress when people predicted we'd have colonies on mars already? Pretty good analogy.
I miss space highways, there should at least be hyper lanes or wormholes to fly around different populated sectors far from eachers in ED.

Yeah, doens't hurt to wait a couple of years before touching it.

Reminder that the F-35 is going to cost fifteen times more than the entire Apollo project.

Still massive, just not AAA tier.

But there already is a fleet.
The vidya fleet.
Just go to Holla Forums chat channel in game and ask for a invite.
Repeat several hours later if no success at first try.

So a pool simulator or zero-grav plane simulator where actors pretend they are in space?

...

I believe they're moving in Delve at the moment, which is mostly inhabited by small alliances and assorted riff-raffs that don't have the numbers goons do. I do believe some of the larger alliances are mobilising to generate content in Delve soon though.

Is that including inflation?
I looked at the numbers for NASA, not just Apollo, a few months ago and found that the F-35 had received about 50% more than NASA's entire history, when you include inflation.

Playing X Rebirth since I was curious as to how bad it was and also the anons saying it wasn't that bad anymore. Still seems bad to me. It forces you to do minigames at every opportunity, like the constant and annoying space highways, station scanning, etc..

So any anons tried these bridge simulator games like Artemis, Pulsar and Quintet? How are they?

I'm still waiting for a good single-player bridge simulator game. Having to deal with other people always drags down the experience.
As far as I know, the only real game of that type is Bridge Commander.

He's Egyptian. I think.

Did they speed up progression? I haven't played in a while but creative feels cheaty and survival is boring because everything takes a century to do plus you don't have tools like building in mirror mode because of muh realism.
Also what do you think of my mining rig? it's supposed to be as compact as possible and able to go through it's own hole

Pulsar is pretty fun and comfy if you have friends to play with, need at least 2 others really. There isn't much content and planets start repeating after a while but it's still good with friends. Space battles are intense as fuck and space itself looks great. The ships are also really cool.

Reminder that the Taiidans did nothing wrong.

Naw, still slow as shit building ships you have no use for other than to mine the resources for more ships. I really wish they took more of a Subnautica approach where you had to actively explore for ship and part blueprints instead of just mining with the occasional battle with shit AIs

NASA Simulator already exists, user. And a new update is coming out for it soon. First major revision of Orbiter in 6 years.

USAF's gotta have those flashy jets for airshows. They aren't even gonna do shit in a real war.

Well, they lost in Homeworld 1, so that's not exactly true.

Rebel Galaxy is pretty shallow. If you haven't figured it out by now; missions for the jew guild will always be a trap on the upper tiers.

Have a good shield, booster, engine, and flak cannons. When the 50 ships appear, book it and don't stop firing the flak. Collect your 1million.

I'm pretty sure they did something wrong there.

Actually, I just saw some video for Orbiter 2016. Looks neat.

Converted the 720p to WebM; had to break it up to 2 files though.

...

blow up the giant grey crystalloid asteroids. they drop faces of gozu every time.

A wild, tiny flicker of hope for Sins 2. Add non-retarded AI, AoMythology-tier campaign and fucking multithreading and you have a legend of a game on your hands.

Starflight with modern graphics and mechanics.

are you the type of person that also thinks fusion will never happen despite "massive funding"? Because I got news for you, neither gets massive funding in the context of other R&D projects(or government spending in general), not even close. Let me put this shit in perspective for you with the pics related.

That aside, how about all the other not-easily-calculated ROI from space investment in the way of technology and other sciences created/understood/researched, such as GPS, tools, telecommunications, materials design, aircraft, metallurgy, computer science, biology, cosmology, and a million other things that are difficult to quantify? Dismissing research because you cannot directly understand its benefits does not change the fact that you, right now, are benefiting from it and have been doing so for your entire life.

forgot the other pic

Subnautica is a better space game that actual space games.

I'd just be happy with an performance update for Sins 1.

Can you have a Space Ship manufacture in Space Engineers that Orbits a planet?
I'd imagine that being very comfy.
Building a ship with a Planet under you.

There was nothing to verify and those fucking Somtaw dregs would have told any lie to scare off the Taiidani fleet from defending its space.

No, and speaking of fusion, in my country the biggest opponents to nuclear research are the ones who want to cover the country with windmills and solar panels.

...

leftism is mental disease

A MMORTS set on ringworld covered mostly in oceans.
Each player commands a waterbound version of the mothership from Homeworld, roaming about, gathering resources (lost alien tech left behind by the creators of the ringworld), fighting other players over the choice spots, developing and refining the abilities of the smaller ships you can carry, managing relations with AI factions and engaging in naval warfare in general.
Combat would be based around attacking from beyond visual distances and drone scouting to spot targets, hack or jam enemy drones, setting up signal relays to keep you in contact with your drones, etc.
Weapons would range from CIWS, for shooting down incoming missiles and drones, deck guns for knife fighting and hard hitting short range attacks and longrange missile/attackdrones and large artillery cannons for when you need to hit someone 50-100km away.
The smaller ships aren't standardised, but instead have 5-6 basic hulls that can be equipped with a variety of equipment and weapons to fulfil various roles, from AA defence to vertical launch missile sub or drone carriers/tenders. Rather than earning XP, players gain expertise with the different hull types and weapons, allowing them to modify them, for extra speed, or larger fuel stores, every stat change having various drawbacks along with its bonuses. So if you want a heavy battleship that can tank tons of damage, you are going to have to find a way to deal with the massive speed reduction all that extra armor will give you, and the other way around if you want to be a speed freak.
Another big issue will be radar visibility. Namely, how big a blib your ships make on enemy sensors, which will tie into how far away their sensors can reliably spot you and thus shoot you form. This is ties into the need for sensor drones you can send out to scout ahead of your fleet, but they have limited range, loitering times based on their fuel, and signal strength, determining how far away they can remain in contact with your ships. Using signal relays, you can extend the range of your scouting, at the expense of having to coordinate more and more drones. The more powerful your radar is, the bigger your own signature becomes, and the easier it is for the enemy to spot you aswell, making a case for stealth drones with passive sensors you can send up to listen for enemy sensors, and so on. Add to this jamming enemy control signals and radars, to reduce their effective ranges, hacking drones to hijack or crash them or to feed false sensor data into the enemy sensor network to misdirect. The main weight of the games combat should revolve around this EW, and figuring out how to most effectively get a shot at the enemy before they get a shot at you, and hoping like hell their missile defences won't shoot your missile down, as it can be traced back to where your own fleet is.
For endgame and clan stuff, you have constructable naval bases that allow access to new hull types, automatic resource gathering for the clan and serve as trade hubs. Another neat thing would be clans fighting for control over land. Resource rich islands where specialised landing ships can deploy ground troops to fight over objectives on land, where ships must supply their forces, bomb enemy positions to help the ground troops and destroy valuable facilities. Islands in return can have shore guns defending important points, deployable hidden missile batteries, radar installations surveying the area and airfields for launching drones and planes into the surrounding area at the command of whoever controls the place. Also, factories and mines for producing valuable resources for the clan controlling it.
NPC territory would mostly be naval bases and island chains, with most of the rest of the territory left mostly unpoliced.

So kind like a Homeworld MMO, with EVE's anything goes approach to player interaction, grounded mostly in hard science and revolving around playing hide and seek with enemy fleets with your drones and ships.

No Man's Sky :^)

The fucking windmills, christ.
There is more than one airport in my area being forced to close because the provincial (Ontario) government approved windmills directly in the circuit and approach path to the runways. The only person who can overturn the building permits for the windmills is the national Minister of Transportation, and since the federal government is strongly allied with the Ontario provincial gov, he'll never do it. So multiple airports get closed in favour of a handful of windmills we don't even need. In fact, we already produce an energy surplus, and the more we produce, the more it costs to get rid of the excess, and the more it costs per kWh.
More than half of the province's power is already green in the form of nuclear, and we have the largest operating nuclear plant in the world. We have more energy than we know what to do with, so we pay other provinces and states to take it off our hands. But we better build more fucking wind turbines.

Not to mention the devastating effects on the environment that windmills cause. For example, between May 1 and October 31 2015, Ontario wind turbines killed an average of 18.5 bats EACH, meaning a total of over 42,000 in the province. In the same period, over 14,000 birds were killed. 12% of the bats killed are from endangered species. The maximum permissible mortality rate for bats per turbine set by the province was 10 per turbine per year. The study also estimates that 52% of carcasses would fall outside the region they examined, meaning these numbers probably have to be doubled.
And by the way, there is a law that says killing an endangered animal is punishable by a fine of one million dollars times the number of animals killed. Fortunately, there was an exemption written into this law to exclude wind turbines.
If anyone has forgotten what happens when you kill flying insectivores en masse, please refer to Mao.

Protecting the environment indeed.

Does anyone have/know any site or something that discusses or shows how a realistic battle spaceship would look or work?

been playing fractured space, it's bretty fun but it takes a fucking while to get in matches.

playing House of the Dying Sun and wishing the ships had strafing abilities instead of just pitch/yaw/roll.

I've talked to those people and the main reason they want that shit rather than objectively better power generators than what we have now, largely boils down to "people are bad, we should live in caves until something from space kills us but its too late for that, so I want to live in luxury while everyone who I don't like feeds me through subsistence agriculture or dies and that's OK because there are too many people on this planet".

If someone actually secured working fusion, either through Tokamak or Polywell, they would probably react very badly about it. Deep Green, never ever.

projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/index.php
Enjoy your reading.

How is it?

Actual game campaign isn't in yet, so currently it's just 'pop in, destroy X, then get the fuck out before enemy fleet can send a warship in to wreck your shit' missions. Main problem I'm having with it is the controls. Just can't find a set up I'm happy with.

Also the guns use a reload mechanic to limit firepower instead of a heat or power management scheme. It's annoying as fuck.

Besides those things, it's ok. I'd say wait to buy until they add a proper game campaign though.

Maybe after the summer I'll be able to join the stars once more

I figured i'd ask here since every other thread is just an endless downward spiral of bait and shitposting

How is No Man's Sky, actually?

That actually also implies to my country, except for the fact that our nuclear plants are getting old and are in need of repairs and outfitting which would cost a lot. Funding for that and research is what the Greens are going after while yelling anudda Fukushima, like the situations are comparable in any way.

It's like there has been a paradigm shift, people who believed in all green energy productions would been taken for cooks a few decades ago, but now they are the ones trying to appeal to common budgetary sense and refusing to believe in science.

Get adequate cooling, it's down clocking to not fry itself.

Of course blocking upgrades and repair funding is what caused Fukushima in the first place.

sage for double off-topic

Not if you shut them down and burn some coal instead, I mean that's what the germans are doing.

Well Satan if you would stop causing this heat it wouldn't be a problem also I am on a laptop so If I had money this wouldn't be a problem.

Which is why their emissions have gone up after years of being flat. I wonder if these people even care about the environment of if they're just funded to have us go through a power source "changing of hats" to generate economic activity (payoffs). If you've ever played fate of the world you'll know how beneficial a "balanced" climate outlook is for a country, otherwise the green groups bomb your approval for things such as daring to expand gas to get people off coal.

My condolences. Cooling pad with fans?

If I can afford one which one would you recommend user

Make sure you get one with blue LEDs.

Sounds like someone has been gaslighted by a narcissitic parent his whole life.

Anyway. Never had one myself, but you want large slow fans so it's not so damn noisy. Any one should do so long as it's not complete chinese shit.

hey! they promise to eat their half of the universe and leave the taiidan alone

That's better though, they'd just probably fuck it up like Mass Effect and the Reapers. Yes I'm still pissed at them for not delivering a campaign like they said they would in Sins Rebellion.

just use this and call it a day, works for me

NEVER EVER

I like blue though, but why do they have leds for a fan?

Thanks user and never had any myself just wanted to know what brand was good

I thought about that too but all I have is a a ceiling fan

Yes.

The whole thing is gonna cost more than WWII (and yes it's after inflation).

Do you still wonder why people think that it needs the axe.

Basically it was a cheap plane to replace the immense F-16 fleet(s) (15k a piece). Except they cost 130k a pop.

Basically you can buy China 1 citizen at a time for that cost.

You go "good morning Mr Ching Chong here a check for 100k Yuan to pledge on your ancestors honor you won't harm America. And here's 100k for your son, and 100k for your wife, 100k for your step mother, 100k for your father, 100k for your mother. Have a nice day Mr Ching Chong".

You do that for the BILLION of Chinese… and it would still cost less than the F-35 program.

Well it doesn't really orbit, but you can put one in space just outside the gravity well. Or just inside if you feel like spending extra power on thrusters.

...

no bully

Setting up something like this will require offboard organization, I think. We'd have to figure out when everyone is available. And FS multi isn't the easiest thing to get working.

Someone would also have to knuckle down and make a campaign for it. Not the hardest, but it will take some work if you want a good campaign.

I hadn't thought about that. Even on insane, three players would breeze through the retail campaign easily. Maybe some BP missions would be hard enough? Or could we handicap ourselves with trash weapons?

Going through the trouble of making a campaign for a handful of people to play a dead game together potentially once or twice sounds like a bad idea, though.

So have I way back when, and it wasn't much so idc, I'm starting to get a Duke Nukem Forever vibe from this game, going to come out at some point and be a total mess.

That Juggernaut is so red and shinny.

All that spending and like nothing to show for it

I had to look up what this gaslighting thing was, sounds like something my parents may have been doing to me but not purpose as far as i know any way.

I think the worst part of this is not the abysmal funding, but the fact that every fucking new president we get guts the last active program for his special snowflake revision, even if that last program hasn't even gotten into production yet. The only way we are going to go anywhere significant in space again is if we get into a engineering contest with an enemy world superpower again, and with this globalism shit everywhere now we are more likely to congratulate them and cut funding further than actually compete, and until private efforts are completely separated from public facilities, they aren't going anywhere either

Same could be said for every program.

Anyone wanna get together and have some SotS Games? I got a ts we can use and have some fun, its a pretty timeless game

Wasn't it riddled with desyncs?

Maybe 2, First one worked fine

I think so but it would be pretty hard since you can't actually make it orbit, but you can give the ship an automated route. And you can also make ships self sufficient when it comes to power and oxygen

Currently dowloading this, i remember having no patience for it back when i played it for the first time; which means it's probably good

Real question, how is Space engineers? It's only $5 and I want to play a space game and just enjoy myself. I'll even give a few of the extra keys away.

I have Freelancer installed, but I put that off to play during Autumn.

I think that having something like an X multiplayer that's not EVE online would work but the problem would be if we only had people from here playing on it, we'd just get the odd shitter and that would be the conflicts of the game

The one reason i'm actually excited for NMS is that it seems like it's just space engine with actual plants and animals and a bit of gameplay.

More like Basketball-American.

Yeah, that's really all I want at this point. Space Engine with plants, critters and basic gameplay.

Gonna have to wait awhile. 0.99 is probably 1-3 years away, given the release tempo.

Where did you get that game?

I can play NMS and other games until then, as long as SE keeps getting improved a little wait is fine.

enjoy muh 18 trillion planets

Thank you, user, I will.

Gonna play NMS on my friend's PS4 later today

inb4 it's shit

See if you can actually encounter another player user :^)

Does anyone have a list of good spess shows and movies?

There was a movie I hear was good but seem to have forgotten the name.
The cover what white and yellow.

I thought it was called Farscape but that's a show. Maybe the name is similar.

Why?

And good luck against those other players , i hear those space dog-fights are gonna be a doozy

Are the players bane crashing the game with no survivors?

I just want to explore strange new worlds, user, I don't want any MMO or CO-OP bullshit. I know you're mad because that is what your ass lusts for but you've already got a ton of games catering to your shitty taste. I didn't buy NMS to play Eve online or Space Engineers, I bought it because I wanted to play a bigger budget Noctis.

Or perhaps you should be wondering why would someone advertise a game as multiplayer , while in fact it's not

Watch Farscape. It's top notch.

Asynchronous multiplayer is a thing, user. It's a game about exploration and that's what the devs talked about, naming stuff for others to see, big changes getting carried over to other players.

Okay.
Anything else worth watching? Movie or show.

you got me

If you think about it, even a game set on earth is a space game because earth is a planet in space.

Lexx
Babylon 5
The Fifth Element
Space: Above and Beyond

...

If you are up for some campy cheese, Invasion UFO.

If you want something with an even lower budget there's always Blake's 7.

B5 has grand wars, interstellar politics actually has its characters deal with the fallout and repurcussions of wars as well, not just fight. The effects are severely dated though, especially S1. But the writing was ground breaking and visionary for its time, pioneering the idea of overarching story lines, WHAM episodes and character development. Keep in mind that S5 is optional and was added after the main storyline was finished.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes if you can stand some animoo's. The scope is gigantic, most of the characters in the story die along the way, the action takes years, millions are killed in the gigantic battles with hundreds of thousands of ships and so on. In short, the story was written by a history nerd, nerding out on the politics of empires and the course of wars. Its the only show I've seen that can get away with dedicating entire episodes to clipshows explaining the ancient past, and still be interesting.
An incredible show that is so big it will never be given an english release. The closes we will ever get is the fantranslation.
Also its 110 episodes long, plus several spin off movies and 52 episodes of spin off side stories.

If you are into mythology or just explorers down on their luck bumming through the galaxy, Farscape will be your thing. Not as epic, but much more personal, and the effects work of the muppet guys is amazing. Even by todays standards, most of the show looks great.

If you want modern soldiers in space, there's Space Above and Beyond. A surprisingly good show that got cut short after one season for no good reason. Kind of like firefly…

Firefly. The show that was infamously killed off by Fox despite being a major hit. Its outlaw cowboys in space.

Spaceship Operators. Another animoo, this time about a military schoolship. The gist of the show is that their country gets invaded while they are on tour and surrenders. Rather than hand over the ship to the invaders, the kids run off with the ship to organise a resistance fight, and fund said fight by letting a TV station make a reality show about the ship fighting said war, live.
A questionable setup, but a very good show that investigates all the neat bits of its premise, from using the live show to spread disinformation about their tactics when the enemy starts using the show to try and predict what they do, the effects of being thrown into a very real war for what is essentially a bunch of highschool kids, political scheming, backstabbing and ultimately that the goal of their campaign may well not result in what they want.
Also, this is one of the only shows I've seen where orbital mechanics actually play into how they fight. On top of that the sci fi is fairly hard.

Planetes. Last animo on the list, I swear. The life and times of interplanetary garbage collectors. Possibly the hardest sci fi show made. A fun comedy show about the less glorious side of space travel.

Lastly, there's Star Trek. There's a lot of different series and everyone has their own ideas about which ones are best DS 9 obviously and there are a lot of really bad episodes in every series regardless. But if you cherry pick your episodes, definitely a lot of good episodes to enjoy too.

Terrible series, Cuck Whedon can't write for shit.
I prefer TOS and Enterprise myself.

Are there any space games as over the top and batshit as Lensman? I feel like too many want to be realistic instead of breakneck ludicrous fun.

I've been thinking about B5.
I'll give it a shot.

LotGH has been on my list for a while.
I'll watch it at some point.

Farscape sounds interesting, so does Space Above and Beyond.

I've already watched firefly. Good stuff.

I'll give Spaceship Operators a whirl and the setup for Planets sounds fun.
I watch plenty of animu so it's fine.

You are right about Star Trek DS9 is best.

Firefly is fun.
The characters are fun and the setting is engaging.
Wheadon is a cuck but that show is good.

DS9>TOS>ENT>TNG>>>>>>>>>>>>>>VOY

Why am I so bad at Elite: Dangerous? I just want to be a simple space-trucker.

Explain yourself.
You're bad how exactly?

Just can't seem to keep all the systems in my head at once. Simple stuff like forgetting to turn off my pulse-jump thing when i'm on approach to a planet or forgetting about landing gear. I was mainly bitching, i'll probably get it down eventually.

How drunk are you when you are playing?

I usually play when i'm either drunk or can't fall asleep, so i'm not at my best either way.

Does anyone here play Endless Sky?
And if yes, then how the fuck do I get through the Pug War without owning either a private flotilla or a dreadnought minmaxed to extents that aren't even fun?
The ships I'm given as support get fucking annihilated and I'm almost tempted to load the save right before syndies use a nuke on you, disabling the nuke ships and getting one for myself.

Try some drugs as well to get the authentic trucker experience. Maybe also murder a prostitute as well.

This tbh fam.

It's not amazing or anything, but it wouldn't be the worst thing to throw 25 bucks at.

The gameplay is still pretty fucking rough for how long it's been in a playable state, but you can indeed mine and craft space ships AKA submarines, like 99% of """"space""" games.

Last I heard they were having trouble getting the fucker to run on account of the PS4 being generally shit.

does Holla Forums have a survival server for sperg engiqueers?

Okay after playing NMS, I can see it getting old rather quickly, unless you do a lot of planet hopping. The exploration boils down to finding everything that is procedurally generated, so plants, animals, terrain, caves etc. The rest of the stuff to do on planets reminds me of Ubisoft open world games, and a lot of it is copy pasted. It can get quite addictive trying to reach every nearby point of interest, but you soon realise that the planet is so big you'll just end up doing the same shit over and over unless you leave and explore another planet. Managing resources and your inventory is a pain and you are constantly battling your inventory for free spots. The monolith and alien language stuff is kinda cool but I don't know where they are going with it.

Truer, sadder words were never spoken.

That's pretty funny user.
Es ist auch sehr traurig.

Schadenfreude to you too, friend

which is how it should be

Im still not over the ending though. Fuck Biocuck.

There was no schadenfreunde in this whatsoever user.

Now you made me remember.
Thankfully I never bought ME3.

that pic is from a vanilla lewds simulator space game?

that would be nice or maybe have a qt alien copilot and hold hands

Legend of the Galactic Heroes
nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=608492
I hope you have a lot of time in your hands and harddrive

like this?

Nah, Lensman is infamous for that exponentially run away arms race. The books had intergalactic warfare with an arms race that ends up with entire solar systems being rigged up as giant lasers with the systems suns entire output of energy focused into the beam. And that wasn't the end of that arms race either. They used planets as ammunition in that war…

Holy shit.

What you are describing sounds like some things anons were doing in star ruler

Like
said, Star Ruler is the closest game that comes to mind.
Although it's not spess, The Wonder 101 escalates quite drastically, just like Gurren Lagann.

that reminds me of a nip game where some ugly living ships used planets as rocks and throw them around, it has a loli hittler, to bad it will never ever be translated

You forget miss perfect Mary Sue lead character

You must be from the bizzaro universe

No, I was listing reasons why someone may want to watch it.

In the pale moonlight.
Or is this that weird Berenstain universe where that episode turned out to be a dream sequence made with romulan mind control technology?

What is some cheesy Space Vidya Holla Forums?

Tharsis, I love games that fucking hate me

...

Scott Bakula was a great Captain and Porthos is a good dog.

YES YOU ARE. WHO'S A GOOD BEAGLE? YOU ARE! YES YOU ARE!

I want to feed Porthos cheese

Anyone play Space Engineers that knows of a good currently working dark skybox?
It's like everyone who plays that game is a solar panel worshipping casual faggot or something. Every single skybox is bright as day, and the only dark ones I can find are two years out of date and no longer work with the current build of the game.

All I'm looking for is:

I have a personal one

I don't know how you get rid of the sun though. I'll grab some pictures here in a second

Here's the main picture

So the main bright point outside of the Sun, is the Galaxy in the distance

Honestly I had forgotten I made until until I loaded up the game a few days ago. It's dark for the most part with star clusters.

Not really. No chocolate though

Stanford toruses are the future. Bernal was a fucking crackhead and O’Neill forgot to realize that no material is strong enough for his dream.

Funding ≠ success.

what is the space vidya equivalent of euro truck simulator 2? preferably with the occasional laser pew pew

this shit has always irked my autism, without cockpit view i feel like im smashing my face against the fucking windshield

all i want is a good space game with a cockpit view, is that so much to ask for?

...

Rodina had an update recently.

They added FPS mechanics, though they're pretty basic.

Hope they'll keep improving.

Game is still fun.

Yeah, it's not bad.
I used to play on sunless black voids, though, sometimes even without a starfield at all. It feels like you're deep inside a dense nebula, or at the bottom of an infinite deep sea, and it also gives the game almost a survive horror vibe when the only light you ever see is from artificial sources of your own construction.
Losing power on a pitch black sunless map is like your air hose coming lose from your suit or something.

Under the current new lighting system, even on the maps that claim to be "dark", if you go inside a building, turn off all lights and close all doors, you'll still be able to see. I want my absolute blindness back.

Oh yeah that. I know that Edge of Darkness skybox people were asking him to remake his skybox to do that.

Yeah, that was a promising one I saw, but alas.
I'll just give the game and the mods another few months to good and check back in 2017 to see if dark skyboxes are working again.

to cook*

isn't that what Elite Dangerous is? or am I thinking of another game?

It can be. Then again I don't understand how Euro Truck is anything but a boring fucking slog.

You could always become a drunk sea barge captain. At night it wouldn't be all that different.

There's nothing nearly as good as Lexx in video game form.

Would you really do something indecent like that to another player? You'd really make another user your handslut?

...

Instead of giving money to dishonest developers, maybe you could continue playing Noctis for free.

Of the two, that would be my choice.

Blake's 7. Budget is 70s tier BBC, but the writing quality is happily inversely proportional to the quality of the special effects in this case.

The premise of the show is quite similar to Firefly in some ways, except much less sensitive. In fact I'd go so far to say that Firefly ripped it off, but I can't really be too surprised since Joss is pretty damn uncreative. The ship designs and characters are pretty neat too.

If it looks nice enough, even driving around is pretty comfy.

When you're doing super nuclear reactors confined by super magnets or going into fucking space, at some point you need some funding.

The maths behind controlled fusion are essentially done, all there is to do is build prototypes until the proper ""tuning"" is found.
It's pretty much in state where all there is left to do is throw some money at it until it works.

But since it means building things that won't work (until one does) nobody is doing it.

Could be worse, could be cuddling

...

It's a shitty western with a space ship. I have no idea why people cum in their own mouths about that trash.

Maybe because they like western?

But user, the "Space Western" has been a subgenre of Science Fiction litterature for nearly a hundred years.

Please die.

I suppose you replied to the wrong post.

Ah sorry, it was meant for
Mea culpa

what if you had to scan for planets that could support life before you jumped to them or you could go to a hardcore planet that would require effort to survive on.

Yo Way Yo, Home Va-Ray

They released the whole series out on DVD. Sure the leveling and picture quality is alright on those, if you can find a copy. Go from there.

Of course it's PAL; no problem if you play off computer though.

elite dangerous and starpoint gemini warlord (who is in early access)

Anyone getting tired of these voxel based bullshit games like Space Engineers where you build your own ships? Even space strategy games where you design your own ships are starting to piss me off. It's like they include it not as a feature but because devs are too lazy to design and balance their own unique ships.

Are shit by default.

Also I'd rather make my own specialized units rather than have a choice of a few standard ones.

It's about the right degree of detail. When I'm playing a large-scale strategy game and have to design a dozen different warships consisting of 100 modules each while also finetuning the economy, managing a complex research system, babysitting my explorers, optimizing trade and weighing the 20 variables that decide which planet would make a good next colony, that's obviously too much. Such games need a good, competent AI assistant to do the menial tasks without fucking everything up. Combining the ship from several options for the 3 or so large superstructure slots and then placing weapons and some special features like in SOTS is usually a good compromise.
But having to manually replace a dozen level 2 power generators with level 3 ones on the interior grid in 20 designs while the new one is slightly bigger (Polaris Sector, the rest isn't bad) can be really fucking annoying.

That Star Wars mod for Mount and Blade.

what happened to the Mandate shill? did he an hero?

I'm glad there is a space thread, I just started playing pic related, its super comfy but slow. Anyone else played these games? Is it necessary to play them in order?

Close but not yet user

So did they stop development of this game or what? What are they working on right now and what is the next content update?

They are waiting for gamescom to announce some stuff… Question is: how big of an update is it? But knowing frontier I'd not bet on something huge.

Most people, including me, would suggest going straight for Albion Prelude if you are not interested in the story. If you are, you should probably play X2, X3, then TC. Never played X1 and don't have the desire to do so anyway.

shill for us, I need more mandate info

Early access in Q1 2017 and no multiplayer but they said they will have a road map, things went south fast with these last few updates but I have to go down with the ship because I was to hyped for it. save yourselves

I still have hope it might be good and like I always say don't buy the game

Maybe

...

my life is currently on the potentially good stage

But, annon is it fun?

Also is
in the 'X' series?

Game looks cool, thanks for mentioning it.

But on the bright side they have started to update once a week and update their main site page So it might still saved.

I wish you luck user

No man's sky, aka. the best game ever made.

0/8 m8

there is not much of a story, I think, only played X2 all the way up to X3

SJW writers hired?
got bought by EA?
second kickstarter?
country where they are based is now in a civil war?

Nope to all of these but they did hire a community manager who worked on TOR.

No, you don't have to play them in order. But you should note that while the newest X3, AP, is the most technically refined, the storyline and major questlines are far smaller. If you are not interested in them, go for AP, otherwise TC or Reunion. There are lots of mods, and those for TC and AP are in general interchangeable.
The secret to winning space battles is strafing (wasd).
You can use the time accellerator (j) to make the game run up to 2-10 times faster, you can set the factor in the options. It's somewhat problematic to use it while your ships are fighting, especially in the same sector, as it abridges calculations and can lead to collisions with ships and asteroids.
You can tune your ship's speed, turning rate and cargo size in shipyards and trade stations.
Automatic docking wastes a lot of time, if you are on an urgent mission open communications (c) with the station, request docking permissions and dock manually. Max speed is 40 m/s, you can come from any angle as long as you end up in front of the clamp.
If your ship has been damaged and you don't have much money, disembark and fix it with the repair beam in your suit, and note that the flickering when your energy is low doesn't change the actual repair rate.

KSP: Interstellar.

...

I feel your pain user.
Let us hope the game comes out in good health and that the folks they hired in there wont fuck shit up.

it is but you have to actually care.
its not the type of game that will unfold by itself.
it s an old school type of game with modern graphic.so it differ greatly from all thoses modern game who made this current genaration of gamer "born with a silver spoon in one's mouth"
and expect (verry) quick rewards and clear objectives… and i aint even speaking about some who want to become THE hero or THE villain …

tl;DR
ED is not for everyone
i d recommand it. you start as a scrub and end up like one, your "goal" is to make someone (anybody) care for you and not stay like another living space dust.
the most obvious way would be piracy but you have tons of other things.
obviously, if you are Role Playing ignore the above

(2nd post to add a link to an explicative video of why ED is not for everybody so you can see if elite is or is not for you)
if the Embed fail youtu.be/uwk-GB1r7B0?t=1m40s

i know the next big expansion will be about fps, boarding, walking around your ship and space station.
but IIRC it s not for now. so the next update may simply be : planerary landing which is already present but only on planet without atmosphere . so the update may bring global planetary landing and it exploration (including underwater)

nec22

bump

Someone recomment me a good space game wherei can explore, land on planets and all the stuff.
Not like parkan 2.

Sprore

Space Engine

I guess No Man's Sky fits that description.
I can't really think of one where you can land on planets with flora and fauna.

Fuck you user.

If you can deal with playing old games Starflight is one of the best games that offer just that.

Not my fault satan there really aren't that many games that allow you to land on planets and explore and most of them are terrible like starbound.

sounds good to me. More games like that?

hy satan, sorry but i do not play copy pasta screensaver.

I know, that's why I mentioned NMS.

I never implied it was a good choice.
I wanted to mention Outer Wilds but I didn't know the name. I had to look it up.

Star Control 2

Which even has procedurally generated planets, technically, although the generation was all done developer-side and the final product is fixed.

Protostar is sort of an spiritual successor to Starflight 2, it's quite good but not as good.

Star Control 2 is a much more accessible game but the planetary exploration amounts to much less and it's more arcadey. Worth a go anyway since it's a great game.

If you want an RPG there's Hard Nova and Sentinel Worlds.

There's the roguelike Prospector that's pretty cool, still in an unfinished state however.

I would recommend Noctis but it's hard to run on modern systems, haven't tried NMS yet so I can't recommend it either. There's very few recent games featuring exploration like that due to the graphical fidelity expected these days.

The first Mass Effect also had some very limited exploration, likewise with the Russian game Precursors.

Oh yeah, OW is really good too. The final game is ever so slowly getting closer to release but even just the alpha by itself is excellent. Never seem anything quite like it.

Wait I do remember another game. It's an rpg called cyber knight

...

how many planets? it looks like it would just have a few? And how is the landing on planets managed? With a loadign screen inbetween?

Anyone got the webm of Worf breaking the neck of Weyoun in the last season of DS9?

Yeah, there's very few planets (six IIRC) and it's not seamless. It's also much less focused on exploration than the other games I mentioned, it's a shooter with RPG elements and simple space combat.

Closest I got I'm afraid.

...

I know they had power and replicator issues, and had to strictly ration use of replicators, but I don't recall the specifics or when the issues were resolved.
Is it possible that the "no way to replenish" line was partly a result of those problems, and that once they were fixed they could make more torpedoes?

God damn was Voyager shit.

Endless Space 2 coming out on Early Access August 30

Endless Space looked mediocre.
Endless Legend is great.

Never played either but space 2 looks better than the first

And the two dozen or so shuttles they lost?
You don't suppose it was just because the writers and actors on that show simply didn't give a shit?

Fuck.

This is the future.
Any vidya depicting this?
We need change soon. I hope it isn't too late.

But it's still a series that aired and is canon, so an in-universe explanation is good to have.

New thread when?

When it reaches page 16.

I'm holding you to that promise user

its funny to see how the explanation of how no man sky failure is found in Braben's video during elite kickstarted

but in case you dont want to watch the hole video:
>if you imagin every planet when you get down to the surface and it s just a different eco hi-map that would be VERRY VERRY DISAPOINTING even with lovely atmospheric effect
[…]
