If such a feature is dependent on online connectivity then how can the game work without it? At best, I can see it being a bit of a fun gimmick or side dish like multiplayer in Souls games, not something that will revolutionize the whole medium or is even essential to the core game. I have to admit, all this talk about a "rope" and "stick" sounds really cool and intriguing, but at the same time makes me cautiously optimistic.

If you look closely there are some red things, it's supposedly volcanic activity, and the black sand is also a direct consequence of that.
The area it's supposed to be is the same as the country of origin of the guys who made the song playing in the trailer.

People talk about the story in MGS a lot but what people also love about the series is it's stealth action gameplay. Tense, tight, with a variety of rewards and unlocks for each game.
It'd be hard to describe all of the games in detail, or at least it'd take a while. Emulate MGS:1 or pick up the HD collection or something, you won't be disappointed with the gameplay if you like sneaking.

I want to say it does, but its arguably most import moments lean towards postmodern art and 4th wall-breaking. And I'll be honest, I've always approached this series with a completely different mindset, and simply enjoyed the games because they were cool and campy, characters were charismatic, and gameplay was arcadey and fun. So even if you don't buy into modern art at all, you can still appreciate these games on a "surface level", I guess.
The problem is when I used to visit MGS forums I couldn't stand the type of pretentious Kojima fanboys that circlejerked over MGS2 because of this reason alone, and saw other games as inferior because they weren't as "artsy". These people conveniently ignore the fact that the heavy-handed story IS a problem, because codec calls and cutscenes get in the way of the gameplay and interrupt you every few minutes. This is why I still feel like going back to MGSV after hundreds of hours of playtime and want to start a new playthrough. Indeed, cutting back on cutscenes and exposition was a blessing for me, but on the other hand, that game lacks the personality that made the series so memorable.

The theme of the game is ropes, well ropes can be used to take people prisoner as well as tie things together. A child could be a metaphor for the future of man. And the guy grieves over the loss of his child, the loss of his future maybe.
Not sure what those figures in the sky were but assuming we are continuing the theme of rope and ecological destruction they could be 'fishermen'. They are floating over the sea and wildlife has ended up on the beaches.

Knowing Kojima's style it's probably something like greedy corporations dig too deep into the sea bed for oil and these beings come out and drive the fish out of the sea causing mass disaster.
Ropes can be used to make nets which can catch and secure things. So maybe the player has to catch these beings and put them back. He himself has handcuffs on so he's an escape prisoner.
