I still play things both modern and old, just pretty much zero Western shit since the gameplay rarely interests me and the leftism leaves a bad taste in my mouth that I can never get rid of while playing since I have a hard time completely separating a work from its creator.

Last year I emulated a bunch of PSX/PS2 shit that I missed out on since I grew up on almost nothing but Nintendo, but I think I've played pretty much everything from older generations that I had even a vague interest at this point. This year I've just been playing some newer JRPGs and having a decent time with most of them. I'm hoping I can keep busy until I can import Persona 5 next month, but I'm not so sure since the genre is spread pretty thin on consoles these days and most handheld ones don't hold my attention unless they're just downscaled ports of console games. Shit like Etrian Oddysey just bores me to tears.

Honestly, after living a life of pure neetdom for over half a decade I feel like I've played enough video games to last me a lifetime and this feeling is only amplified seeing the industry be co-opted the way it has. Games rarely excite me anymore, I only continue to play them because it's what I've always done and I have nothing else. I might try to find a job after Persona 5 because I don't expect anything else to top it for years and going back to the same old shit after would be insanely depressing.

I play games all the time. The thing is, being nearly 30 years old with a full time job and other obligations means I don't have as much time. I often have to chose between games or other things.

So I get maybe 10 or so hours per week..maybe more if I have a weekend where I'm determined not to do anything else.

That time restraint means that story heavy games are really not going to grab me like they used to. I tend to head towards more action oriented games.

What I tend to play are all older games, and since the series they're from have been dead for a decade or so (if they even were a series to begin with), I acknowledge that there's no real point in making a thread that might only garner ten posts (half of which likely my own) before 404ing. I suppose that's the drawback to playing classics; the quality might be better than stuff is these days, but there's little draw for discussion a this point besides posting about them in more broad threads where they can fit (OST or system/genre threads, for example). Maybe that's just how I see it though.

At least with ongoing series, be they good or bad, news regarding it is enough to generate interest in discussing it.
